True, but the movies have the most important things covered and then some. And it has significant changes too, so... dunno.

People who don't watch the original series are definitely missing out. It's an anime requirement.

*Yawns*

Rain + Me (at peace) = one hell of a nap. :D

Now, we're talking about NGE? Definitely, definitely watch the original. I don't go near compilation OVA's; not even for Gundam. It's NGE (anime), and then EoE, or GTFO - that's not to say 1.11 and 2.22 aren't good because they are, but still, originals first.

Speaking of which I swear I saw the Spear of Longinus somewhere today.

 I took a nap today too.

The local Wal-Mart has this little pack of drink stirrers. I am tempted to buy a pack because the red ones totally look like the Lance of Longinus. I want to get it for my Revoltech Asuka.

Right. That's the point I was making.

Now onto something else..

Dayum. It's been 6 days since I watched any anime. :(
The withdrawal symptoms are painful aren't they?:P

Now to play Pokemon Black Version, gotta beat it before the end of the year!:scared:

No, actually it hasn't been too bad. I've been watching some badass live-action flicks.

In fact, I actually applied my anime schedule scheme to movies, to make it easier to decide what to watch next out of my 1000+ movie collection. Now instead of picking from over 1000, I'm picking from just 5. :P

Some animated movies on there too. Tales from Earthsea and Wings of Honneamise are coming up soon...

....but totally overrated :P

Finished Hoshi o Ou Kodomo. Such a good movie, definitely a must for any Miyazaki fan. 10/10

I hope it's uploaded soon... it'd be nice to get it while I'm still on a fast connection.

Guess I have to wait until I get home

And that's just the beginning really.
Rebuild also needs to cover why Mari's bewbs are abnormally big.

Too many private area jokes, too little time.
"Hentai..."
"You don't seem that pissed off when Mari gives you massages."

Well that IS what I said...

Saying it's a must-see for Miyazaki fans doesn't necessarily mean that it's not a Miyazaki film. It could be a must-see for Miyazaki fans because it IS a Miyazaki film and they're the only ones who can be pretty much guaranteed to love it.

But I figured you knew it wasn't Miyazaki, since I've mentioned on here plenty of times that it's Makoto Shinkai's latest film.

I definitely knew it wasn't Miyazaki. Thanks for believing in me!

Still gotta watch 5 cm per second. I guess I'll watch that later tonight or tomorrow. Seeing as I'll be busy with Skyward Sword.

5 cm is awesome, you'll love it. 👍

It is really good. I am thinking of watching Voices of a Distant Star tonight.

I did just watch the latest Mirai Nikki. Pretty good episode and the next one should be great too.

Definitely do. It's less than 30 minutes, and it uses its time quite effectively. The most negative things that could be said about it is that it's one of Makoto's earlier works and so the animation isn't as refined as what's seen in his subsequent works, but it's still a visual feast. That, and like Miyazaki, Makoto's works (at least 5cm, Distant Star, and Place Promised In Our Early Days) all have very similar thematic traits. Hoshi o Ou Kodomo seems to have expanded the breadth of themes in his works somewhat, but I haven't seen it so I can't say for sure.

Goodnight, everyone. I'll try and watch a bit of Excel Saga tomorrow.
"I wonder, who put that mistletoe above your bed, DK?"
*whistles innocently*

I haven't seen anything other than Hoshi, but it's more mystical then the vibe I'm getting from 5cm.

That's nice, but I was referring to plot themes, not "vibes".

A prevalent theme in Makoto Shinkai's work would be young lovers, and in particular, them growing more distant as they grow up.

I don't know if that's in Hoshi or not, but that's what I meant by theme... Not setting or mood. :P

I hate how I got interrupted from my sculpture making... half the thing is dried now.. :grumpy:

One cannot call themselves an otaku if they don't buy figurines... let alone even want to make one, amirite, TC?
