I think I should ask because I've maybe hit a language barrier here. I mean it as harmless joking around but maybe "trolling" is meant to be used only as actual trolling? People seem to get touchy whenever I mention it, as if the "joking around" meaning can't be attributed to it.
I don't have a sense of internet sarcaism. I use trolling as a joke also because I can't troll nor do I know how to.
Yeah, but that's not Bandai Entertainment, an anime licensing company. The Bandai you're talking about is involved with video games.
Eh?
Nope, Bandai Entertainment= Bandai Visual which is owned by Namco Bandai

DK
Then why haven't you joined Team Asuka yet? There's a free Asuka clone in it for you if you sign up! :D

A bit late for the pic of myself, but meh, who gives a crap:

Because I will feed my clone to Mari as soon as I get my hands on her.

EoE won't come until it comes back into print.

Nothing, he'll just be brought to his knees going "What did I just watch? This is amazing!!".:P

Too picky to buy it used for $48?

For the record, Bepop > NGE

For the record, nope. :P

It's very close... Bebop's great, but I think it personally comes down to tastes. If you don't like dark and 🤬-ed up, then definitely Bebop would be the better of the two. Otherwise, I think NGE wins out.

Higher than the MSRP bro, higher than the MSRP. Not paying higher than the MSRP on something used. Plus, I gotta other things to buy that are limited editions, or limited edition only that I don't want to pass up the chance to own.

Now the dubbed-only VHS (Back during the days you had two options, subbed or dubbed tapes.), that I could consider since I *shudder*, have a VCR in my room, and it's not that much higher than the MSRP.

You're something else, you know that?

You'd pay a million dollars to import a limited edition Japanese release of an alright show because it's "MSRP" but you won't pay less than $50 for one of the greatest anime films of all time because it's "above MSRP used", even though it's pretty reasonably priced given it's old and rare.

There's a difference between buying something for hundreds of dollars that's in print, and something that's hundreds of dollars and out of print, and can only be bought from third-party sellers.

Also, if you pay full MSRP on a new anime DVD/BD, you're doing something wrong. Fate/Zero's MSRP is $498.98, yet I'm getting it for $369.98.

Sorry, but Bebop is too dark and F'd up in a very human way. NGE is amazing, but it's more abstract (instrumentality). Bebop is more on par with Monster, much less philosophical and something most people can appreciate. Bepop=10/10, NGE = 9.5/10, Monster=9/10 (too long and sometimes weak animation and funny ending but really great story.)

But this isn't hundreds of dollars, nor is it something that got produced in extremely limited quantities to create artificial scarcity.

It wasn't manufactured to be rare. It had a decent run, but it's out of print now and copies are becoming rare. It's not going to get any cheaper, only more expensive. So while you're all worried about not missing your chance to own all these fancy limited edition releases of mediocre shows, one of the best anime of all time is slipping through your fingers even though it's a fraction of the cost of the other crap you're buying.

Leave this thread, NAO. And when copies of End of Evangelion turn up for cheaper than MSRP and you buy and watch it, then you'll be welcome back. I won't be holding my breath for your return.

Bebop's pretty dark, sad and depressing... but it's also very human and has a lot of warmth to it as well. It's not a completely dark and twisted mind****, which is really what I meant.

If you think Cowboy Bebop is messed up and dark, you should watch Elfen Lied. Then you won't think that.

Also...would dropping Ghost in the Shell and/or Wolf's Rain be considered a sin? I mean, if we're talking about essential, influential anime series...There are several others...but, I don't think any anime has more impact than GITS, Bebop and Astro Boy. ('cause Astro Boy started it.)

OMG! What a steal! :D
Again, that set is not for you.

And yet the price at times drops after a certain time, or depending on the title it gets picked up. The NGE TV series is out of print, but do you really think it's going to stay out of print? It will get picked up because it's NGE. There is a chance that EoE will get license rescued. FUNimation has been releasing the Rebuild movies, and those have been doing real well (Some of the only anime to sell 100,000+ copies here.), so it would make sense for them to pick up the movie. Hell, if they try rescuing the TV series, Gainax may include EoE as part of the deal as package deals are actually fairly common.

Now on slipping through people's fingers, FLCL for example was out of print for years, going for hundreds upon hundreds online, and want to know what happened? FUNimation picked it up, and released it on DVD and Blu-ray (Despite using the horrible Japanese masters that people complained about.). Thing became a big-seller for them. Excel Saga was in the same situation as FLCL, and here it is, back in print for $50 MSRP.

Also, these shows may be "crap" to you, but not to me. Fate/Zero was far from crap in my eyes, and I'm really looking forward to Fate/Zero 2 in the Spring.

Wow... The price... Never knew people would spend that much on DVD/BDs..

So you're going to risk missing out on End of Evangelion like that because "eh, maybe Funimation will pick it up and re-release it someday"??

Are you ****ing mad?!

Yes, yes I will. Rebuild movies have done real well for them, so it's in their interest to pick up EoE and the TV series.

Doesn't change the fact that it was the darkest and most messed up anime series ever made. I still haven't finished it....I should...but I can only handle so much brutality. I just had to take a break.

It was brutal and graphic, but I wouldn't call it the most messed up anime series ever made. For instance, Bokurano, while there's almost no blood or gore in it, is much more messed up than Elfen Lied IMHO.

Roger that. Now leave TGAT already. You can come back when and if Funimation re-releases NGE and EoE.

Elfen Leid is so dark and messed up that I stopped watching it after like 3 eps, as it seemed that dark and messed up was the entire point... need a story, too. But not knocking anybody who followed it through, certainly had promise, I'm just a bit tame.

What episode did you stop on? I recommend finishing it. The gore is woooonnderrfuull and the story is tragic. Although some can't handle the... errmm... "controversial nudity"..

Hey Jeff. I'm sorry for asking like this, but you're a girl, right? :P

Sorry to ask a dumb question... But why is it limited?
To be honest, I don't really know. When shows come out limited edition only, pretty much only the company knows why they're doing it.

Limited edition and standard edition together, those make more sense.

Also Blu-ray for anime in general tends to be limited in Japan, I don't really know why. Also one big advantage limited releases tend to have is they don't have to reprint it. Imagine reprinting this again.

Hmm, "Controversial Nudity"? My interest has increased (assuming its not something that cannot be unseen).

The overall plot is weak, but there's some really great and ****ed up backstory with some of the characters... :D

Lots of tits. That's all.

Just watch the GitS original movie and you're alright with that. WR might seem awkward, since it's old, but definitely a must watch. Sin if you don't appreciate either after giving them a chance. But, I tend to be preachy and elitist, so don't listen to me.

Yeah, and totally offended by the Turn-A Gundam Cock-pits!:grumpy:

I'd also recommend checking out the 2nd GitS movie, Innocence. It's very good as well. 👍

I think I stopped after the episode where the kids kill the puppy to bully the girl.

Most of the nudity, I don't mind, but the pedophile scenes were a little much. (And I'm not even half way through and that's how messed up it's already gotten...plus two of the main characters are...umm...kissing cousins.)

The only part of the GITS universe I don't own are the SAC main story movies and the second manga.

My Wolf's Rain collection needs replaced, unfortunately. But...luckily, I do have CB Remix, now. 👍
