Hey guys, I had a look on the recommendations list...
Currently I have K-ON under the Comedy category....

Do you feel Slice of Life is more appropriate?

Uh, yes? K-ON had what, one kinda sorta funny moment in it, total?

Your face had one funny moment in total.

Anyway, here's a revised version of my queue. Fixed the typo, as well as the double Sora no Woto. Also, added color-coded tastiness so you know what shows I've already watched or tried to watch. :P

Changed.

If anyone feels a show should be moved to another genre, please don't hesitate to bring it to discussion.

Speaking of which:
Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is also under Comedy. Should it be moved to Slice of Life as well?
Panty and Stocking under comedy, should it be Action?
Nichijou under Slice of Life, should it be Comedy?
There's a Mystery/Horror/Psychological and a Fantasy/Magical genre... I'm finding that a few shows fit better under "Supernatural"... but I don't exactly want to go and make another genre. Should I make another genre and move some shows over or put that with one of them? If you feel the latter, which category should I group it with?

Speak up people, this is your community!

Well, there's the conundrum... some things just flat out are multiple genres.

If it helps, I watch Panty and Stocking for the comedy, not the silly action.

Slice-of-life IMHO should be considered a secondary genre, only classifying shows as such if they really don't fit any other genre. From the clips I've seen of Nichijou, it looks very funny and also a bit too ridiculous to be true slice-of-life, so comedy. 👍

That almost made me day.

Here's some slightly calming soundtracks with dinky vocals:

There's one for the other chicks but those are more awful than these.

Are dice, Randy and maybe VB and sly the only ones here to watch IS?

I watched it a little then dropped like a bad habit. Ok, I just watched this.

Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou 1:

Hey YOU! Yeah, you the little punk who wants some funny. When your two best buds don't put on your little sister's skirts, but you do.. you know you got some funny going on.

Papa no Iukoto wo Kikinasai! 1:
Yui Horie!!! :D Makes Randy a happy boy, especially when she's playing the beautiful senpai that our hero is interested in. Sora's cute (played by a new comer), Miu is a fun gal (Eri Kitamura, Yes!!), and Hina just is adorable as all get out. Himura + Daiskue Ono = Hell yes. Yuuta + Wataru Hatano = Win.

4th & final Zero no Tsukaima TV anime series to get subtitled DVD release later this year
Sentai Filmworks announced on Tuesday that it has licensed Zero no Tsukaima F (The Familiar of Zero F), the fourth and final television anime series based on Noboru Yamaguchi's light novel series. Sentai Filmworks noted the series will get a subtitled DVD release later this year. Crunchyroll announced on Friday that it will stream the series in North America.

Yamaguchi is overseeing the scripts for the series, and Yoshiaki Iwasaki, the director for the first television anime in the franchise, is returning to direct Zero no Tsukaima F. J.C. Staff is again animating the final series, and the company GENCO is again handling production.

Ichiko, who sang theme songs for the first three Zero no Tsukaima television anime series, will return to sing the opening theme song "I'll Be There For You." The main cast members, led by Rie Kugimiya, from the previous anime series are also reprising their roles along with new cast members.

The final television anime series will premiere in Japan on January 7 on the anime channel AT-X.

Update: Press release link added.

Update 2: DVD release information added.

There's hope for this series here again! Let's hope it actually sells for them, it didn't for FUNimation (The first season that is.).

If this sells, I can only hope they get the first three seasons (Especially season 1 which has been OOP for quite some time, and is going for quite a lot now.), and possibly even When They Cry and it's sequel.

The sky is falling, Media Blasters is now in trouble a week after the news on Bandai. They just had a big layoff.
Exclusive: Media Blasters Lays Off 60% of Its Staff

N. American anime, live-action series distributor plans to continue releases
John Sirabella, CEO of the North American anime distributor Media Blasters, confirmed with ANN that the company laid of most of its employees on Tuesday.

Sirabella said that Media Blasters' staff decreased from 15 to five or six regular employees. He noted that the company will ask former staff members to continue to work on a freelance basis, but he does not expect all of the laid-off employees to agree to this. Sirabella also stated, "All of the small publishers are going through this sort of thing right now. Not just anime. Everyone's transitioning from full-time staff to freelancers."

The Media Blasters CEO expects the company to continue releasing the same number of titles as before the lay offs. Upcoming planned releases include Blu-ray versions of the action drama anime video Kite on February 28 and the entire first season of the Squid Girl (Shinryaku! Ika Musume) comedy anime on March 13.

The New York-based company began releasing anime in North America in 1997. It has distributed all-audience anime under its AnimeWorks division as well as adult titles through Kitty Media. In addition to anime and manga, Media Blasters has licensed and released live-action Japanese and Asian films and television series such as GTO: The Movie, Kamen Rider the First, and Riki-Oh: The Story of Ricky.

GO!

Ok, I'm back. With good reason, other than to spam. Anyone here know or watched High school of the dead? I'm doing a media project and I need to analyse a horror graphic novel so my mates suggested it…Is it actually even slightly scary?

And Sephy, no, I still ain't joining. :P

I would look up all the "iunnos" to see if they perhaps have a potentially more fitting genre, but the internet is being really slow here today. :indiff:

I think some here watched it. I didn't, but from what I hear it's not horror at all. Mostly typical anime nonsense only.

I'd definitely say move Nichijou and Azumanga Daioh to comedy. K-ON is funny but I think it's a good fit for SOL. A Separate Supernatural category could work but I don't see why it can't be thrown in with Mystery/Horror/Psychological or Sci-fi/Thriller.

High School of the Dead completely sucks after the first couple of episodes. Extremely disappointing show, and no, it isn't scary at all.

You will join eventually. Muahahahaha!!!!!!!

Also, I think that "Board Games/Gambling" is waaay too specific of a genre. Maybe there's some way it could be combined with Sports?

And perhaps there ought to be a "fanservice" genre for poor excuses for shows which really are just badly disguised vessels for fanservice, such as HOTD and Demon King Daimao?

Seriously? It looked like it would be a fun watch :(

It starts off great then it just goes downhill. Way downhill. It's a fanservice show more than a zombie show. I was extremely let down by it.

Then there's the OVA. Oh god, the OVA. :yuck:

So it's just loads of young girls in relatively skimpy clothes getting touched by perverted high school boys then? :P

Oh, good to know .Should make NGE look like a god send after watching HotD for the bloody analysis. Forced to watch it because it's "director's orders". :indiff: :grumpy:

You wish. :P

No HOTD, man...Do Elfen Lied.. at least. That's a BS response. I can't think of something scarier at the moment..
Onboi

Good boy, *slowly pulls you into Moe Squad's lair*

EVERYONE DISCUSS THIS NOW! ESPECIALLY YOU, JEFF! stop idling and speak!

I feel that something like Haruhi fits best under Supernatural alone, but to be mixed with Horror or Sci-fi sounds a little odd, because you have to remember, when you combine genres, that labels any show as a mix of the two rather than just one.

Seriously? It looked like it would be a fun watch :(

Here's what you do: Watch episode 1, then stop watching it after that. That's what I did, and I'm left with a pretty good memory of the show, without ever hitting the disappointing moments.

Also, yes. I was thinking about merging Sports with the Games thing together, I only pulled out the genres initially from animefreak. They had a list of genres and was easy to access for the sake of creating the categories at the time.

Ok then, though the fact that the series was 'notorious for featuring nudity and strong graphic violence for the major duration of its run' seems a bit…wrong for school work.

I still don't know what "Moe" is. :P

All this discussion about anime recommendation and categorization has me thinking about this idea I've had for a while now...

I've always liked Leonard Maltin's movie guide books and thought it'd be cool if there was something similar for anime. I searched to see if anyone made something similar, and the closest I found was a very short but fairly well-produced PDF guide to a small handful of hentai OVAs made by some random internet guy...

So... I've been toying with the idea of making my own anime guide thing. What do you guys think? :P
