Wait wait wait. By "close to crying", do you mean teary AT ALL? I'm not talking about something dripping down your cheek, but maybe eyes watering or almost..

It's the action of where it could lead to tears, but no tears actually really started to form.

You have no soul!

That's what I've been saying since Clannad After Story Episode 16!!!:(

How in the hell do I still have a 75.3% anime compatibility rate with roriconfan, the toughest anime critic known to mankind practically? He makes the harshest critics seem like the most generous people on the planet.

Here's how things go with the other two most well-known anime reviewers on MAL.

In the world the show began that is the ending. In the other world that appeared, Nagisa lived after giving birth, but that popped practically out of nowhere.
Nope, still no tears. Not a single one. Really, it takes A LOT for an anime to get me to shed actual tears.

Basically you have no empathy? Makes sense I guess.

When you know, family you have dies, those scenes will probably hit a bit harder.

Guess you didn't know all my grandparents are dead, with the last one dying when I was 14.

Already experienced the death of family members before.

Oh, and did I forget to mention in this thread how I had to attend a funeral months ago for my aunt?
Noooooooo!!!!! Gintama is finally *gasp* over?!?!???
He...posted!!!:scared:

Yeah, it's over just like Bleach and Beelzebub. People are calling this the Shonen Jump massacre of 2012. Whether or not we'll see the Gintama anime return is unknown. It's kinda baffling considering it sells well on DVD (On average it's literally OVER 9,000 copies per volume which is great for any anime), and gets good TV ratings.

Not to interrupt this discussion, but Adult Swim is totally showing DBZ right now. And they are supposedly showing Gundam next.

Just putting that out there.

Edit: And they are running all of the Toonami bumps too.

How can you directly relate to it, in the most literal sense?
I'm pretty sure no one in here has gotten married, had a kid, and have their wife die after giving birth, and then years later have their kid die.

Tivo is running as a result. It's OVER 9,000 on [as] right now!!!!

I'm in MASSIVE nostalgia mode right now. Toonami bumps all over the place. They're also going to be airing Tenchi Muyo soon.

Here, let me list this for you.

Didn't met one grandparent, died before I was born.

Dad's mother died when I was 7.
Dad's father died when I was 8.
Mom died when I was 9.
Dad died when I was 22.

Then the friends of mine that died in high school. One girl was eaten by an alligator (not making this up) in Africa over summer break.

Various extended family beyond grand parents.

Oh and I was married. She didn't die though, but that has happened to friends of mine. Oh and watching my dad deal with the death of his parents back to back and then his wife dying was pretty eye-opening in hindsight.

So yes, your life is rough and savage and full of emotion and death.

I hate dbz and have never seen Gundam so there goes my T.V. watching plans tonight.

I'm going to call you complainkid96 from now on.

The only half decent stuff Toonami had was IGPX, Bobobo, and The Prince of Tennis.

Wow Azureman, getting a little hostile against me, aren't you?

He...posted!!!:scared:

Yeah, still watching anime. Hajime no Ippo most recently was great.

Azuremen is 40% reason why I'm not back here much, generally juvenile level of discourse is other 40% (not exclusive reasons there), lack of time on my part the final 20...

still watching the thread, if I see anything intelligent of course I'll get involved in the conversation.

am mostly found in the DYSAGT thread nowadays.

Nice how I'm being lectured on not crying over Clannad After Story Episode 16 when nearly two years ago, I was told by someone to grow up because I had cried from one of my relatives deaths. Guy was like "Grow up the 🤬 up. When my grandparents died, I didn't shed a single tear. The death of a relative is not worth crying over." Guy probably would have insulted all those people who had cried from the ending of that episode.

Oh how things would go if Xajen and Azuremen met. You two are a lot alike in certain ways.

Wow Azureman, getting a little hostile against me, aren't you?

Look through your post history. Most of it is complaints. Not sure if you are aware of this.

Azuremen is 40% reason why I'm not back here much

Don't think anyone has missed you much, based on comments like this:

So now your comparing me to internet tough guy that has the emotional standing of a bro?

My point was there is a lot of life you've not experienced. Dead grand parents sucks, but it doesn't really relate to sitting there watching someone you see on a very regular basis die. Right in front of you.

OMG. I thought Toro was trolling in the face of AFD, but it's actually on.

Outlaw Star, baby!

Now for a serious matter, everyone cool it.

blah, blah, most of this thread had become image posts (moistly pretty nice), and blathering on about shows I don't watch because they're too simple/violent/etc not what I'm looking for in a good story. Anime as a whole has a great record for producing some amazing stories (Miyazaki, GITS, EVA, Bebop, and so much more), but this anime thread (GTP relation should be assumed) has not been as great at conversing about current anime...

Well aren't you a mean one...

yeah, sorry, I love anime, and storytelling in general, but if this thread is going to be superficial about it, and frequently absurd with silly personal attacks, I'm not going to spend much time contributing.

But I do think an anime thread at GTP is a good thing, so I'll keep watching. As years go by, and wankers get bored and disappear, I will eventually come back to join what will be a glorious discourse at the intersection of my two greatest loves. Until then... um, no polite way to say it. I'll just wait in the wings for more substance.

It's been a long time since I had anything that I wanted to absolutely max out my receiver when watching.

The last five minutes, starting with Faulconer's Vegeta's SS theme picking up when he blasted Cell and going throughout the end credits, was enough to get me to do it.

Dammit, it's Tenchi Muyo OVA 3, not OVA 1, my on-hold list shall grow even more, gawdammit [adult swim].

You know what the problem is, Jeff? Anime is crap now and you know it. Good story? You're still living in the 90s; a good story in anime nowadays appear ever so scarcely. You only want to get into discussion about great anime? Sure, how long can you go on about GitS for? Not forever. You can only talk about old shows for so long since it's been talked enough times. We on the other hand moved on and are watching new shows so we all have seen the same shows and this brings about new discussion and social activity. It may not be intelligent, but at least there is something new to discuss. We keep the thread moving along with the trend of anime rather than pulling out the stops to reminisce on the past. Just look how much activity this thread has gained over the past 6 months... it's all been about new shows, and serious discussion and speculation has taken place before.

I'm not saying you should switch to conversing like us, I'm saying your idea of this thread won't keep the thread active and about imo.

Nice how they're actually PREMIERING something. To my knowledge, none of Tenchi Muyo Ryo-Ohki OVA 3 ever aired on basic US cable.
