As what happened to me earlier proves, you're probably not, it's just us nerds are generally reclusive.

I guess it changes when you get older. Everyone I know watches anime and they are all very outgoing people.

Wonder if it'd change for me. I graduated from high school in June, I'm currently not in school whatsoever, and I have a part-time job at a movie theater. Still struggling to find an avid anime watcher. I've had to still explain what I'm into because people are unaware of what anime is, though a very select few know what anime is, but don't watch it.

Something to think about, what would happen if Madoka miraculously got nominated and won the Oscar (Though we all know it won't even get nominated) as Oscars can cause popularity spikes among other things for a movie? I can imagine tons of people trying to wrap their heads around the idea of animation being used as a serious storytelling medium, and some "cute" magical girl animated movie being rather dark and "edgy".

I actually play that game quite often. When I'm in the subway, there's tons of youg people coming out of their schools and such, and I often come across a guy or gal and I'm like "I bet he/she watches anime", and I then start looking for stuff that tells the tale, and sure enough, several times I've found a keychain figure in their backpack, or some buttons, a t-shirt, necklaces with anime motifs (coolest one of the bunch was a Gurren Lagan drill), or when they finally step in the train and the doors close, they pop out a manga off their backpacks and such. So it works!

Never talked to any one of them, though. Only with that Sailor Moon girlie I talked you guys about at ARM.
What do you do to get into little kid's backpack, Cano? ಠ_ಠ

Candy?

That would honestly revolutionize the way the western world thinks of anime. But like you said, I really doubt it would be even be nominated because of the genre it's made under & that it bears little significance to everything a movie is and little influence on the general western public.

More like animation in general.

Still a shame it won't get much attention, the committee will pick the American animation fare which is always kid movies (Nothing wrong with them existing as they can be quite good, it's just the lack of variety for western animation can be a bit frustrating) and *maybe* The Wind Rises. Though as some on ANN have pointed out, casuals on news sites might Google it and wonder what the heck a Madoka Magica is. Hey, maybe they may even try the series.

Maybe you should talk to them about it. Every person I talk to about Anime tends to like some random stuff or feels like they are shy about it as I am.

Noup, I'm done talking with local anime fans because they think everything is good and when I tell them 98 percent of anime should burn in hell they simply can't wrap their head around it. I know maybe a couple people I can talk anime with without going "yeah you narutard" all over them. I for sure won't venture with some random guy or girl in the subway wearing a Hatsune Miku t-shirt. They scream "I suck" just with that. I'll pass.

Read what I said above. You'll eventually get to that and will talk EVEN LESS with people about anime, specially anime fans, because narutards. You stated so recently iirc, but I don't remember if it was here or in ARM, but yeah, as you gradually mature and... bleh, maybe don't watch less because, well, you exist for watching anime practically, but your taste gets more refined, your conversations with anime people will be even more scarce because you'll find everyone to be idiotic. Mark my words.

No, I just open the backpacks. If they say something I spit in their face.

No, silly. Everything is out of the backpacks, like the keyfob hanging off the zipper and stuff like that.

Lol so naive both of you. It already happened and nothing was revolutionized nor anything, don't be silly. Specially you TC, you should well remember what you say, becasue amidst all of the stupid stuff you usually barf around, you're right in one thing. Anime (animation should we say here) is a niche. Matter of perception? Absolutely, but that doesn't change anything.

People already do try and extract meaningful themes from animation. They've been doing it for a long time, even with media that's not anime. How else do you get a bunch of folks not liking the storytelling of pixar films or acquiring ratings?

Bought my ticket and booked flights to see this:

The dates coincided with me visiting my parents for New Years, and the flights to and leaving Honolulu were cheaper this way rather than just doing one direct flight (almost all inter-island flights stop in Honolulu first), saved like $30 and I get to be in Honolulu for a couple days.

"yeah you narutard"
 That's probably the reason why I avoid bringing up anime in real life. I just watch anime peacefully, in the safety of my closet.
I for sure won't venture with some random guy or girl in the subway wearing a Hatsune Miku t-shirt. They scream "I suck" just with that. I'll pass.
Something random: The other day when I took the train, I saw a dude who looked like he was a member of a band, looking high on something, wearing a Hatsune Miku hoodie. Big pink and cyan slapped all over a dude with an angsty punk looking expression. One of the weirdest/coolest **** I've ever seen.

Yeah right. What were you doing stalking little kids on the train then?

And uh, guys, what's the third Madoka movie about? I thought they covered all the episodes with the first two movies? Is this like a continuation or something? Will there be a 4.44 then? :dopey:

Whats wrong with Naruto?
People talking down on others isn't cool and I'm going to suggest you all don't forget to keep things polite in here. Just because I'm retired doesn't mean I can't raise hell. :mischievous:
Using "tard" in any way directed at other people or members of the forum is an AUP violation. Keep it clean and fun, don't make it difficult and don't forget the forum rules apply in this thread like they do in any other.

Here's a different trailer.

I'm a little let down that their facial expressions aren't as convincing as I hoped. Square Enix still does it better. Would've been awesome to see Toei match their level.
