No, he's making me LMAO HARD

Samurai Champloo, K-ON!, xxxHolic, Welcome to the N.H.K.

Can't forget Cowboy Bebop!

And if you really want to lay on the Watanbe thick go for some Macross Plus while you're at it. :sly:

I can't believe no-one's mentioned Cowboy Bebop.

As for that guy who asked if any of us have considered making our own anime/manga, does designing your characters to look like they're from an anime count?

Yes.

@Technicolors Nope. I used to draw stupid comics that tried to squeeze in all the kinds of humour I knew or have soaked in from previous media, so little of it made any sense and it had no plot of any kind. None of it was manga.

Closest to manga making was just one-off illustrations. I'm working on one now actually.

Admittedly yes, and I have no idea where I put the disastrous result. It's better that way.

I myself am thinking about doing a manga. It's actually been rolling in my mind for a while now but I never got around it. I got a little story planned out but it's not written anywhere. I didn't even draw anything these past few months.

Might as well recommend these two I'm watching!

Black Lagoon: Because, damn, this is generally a good show! Revy acts exactly like a Quentin Tarantino character, Dutch for some reason reminds me of Terry Crew's character in the Expendables 2, Intro music's got the rare honor of actually being listenable (Love the end credits music as well, sounds like it should be in a movie), and the action scenes... They're fan bleeding tastic!

Hellsing: I love it's atmosphere, the characters are so rugged, they're practically cold-blooded (Integra is essentially Mrs Thatcher and George S. Patton rolled into one, Walter's the personification of a gentlemanly thug, Alucard's what happens when you take the T1000, Sweet Tooth, Kratos and Dracula and throw them into a blender and even Seras seems to undergo an evolution similar to Sarah Connor in the first two Terminator movies) and it's villains are... Well, let's say you wouldn't want to meet them in a dark alley. Ultimate essentially does the Spinal Tap (turns everything up to 11).

Sarcasm I assume.

So does anyone have any suggestions on something good to watch (that isn't Eva or KlK)?

You definitely need to see Cowboy Bebop. Fantastic show.

So many suggestions, so little time (tomorrow is my last day off :nervous:)

Seriously, it comes off a bit cliche to some but...
Cowboy Bebop

It is genuinely one of the greatest anime of all time.
Single shot story, only 26 episodes (maybe one or two have more than one part to them so at most 28).
The animation, soundtrack, story, and overall quality are all top notch. 👍 👍

Of all these suggestions, you can only finish one from here to tomorrow, and then rewatch it again in this time lapse. You now know what to do.

FLCL is always the answer, almost like Miata but with no girly stereotype 👍

I'm currently re-watching Madoka Magica with my best friend, who is seeing it for the first time. I forgot how glorious that show is.

I got the first half of the second series of K-On!! on DVD today.

and wow

The anime is good, but I forgot what DVDs look like on this monitor. X___________X

Once you go Blu, you never go back...

Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence was a fruitful trip. I finished it just now. It got me good when it went all time-jumpy. Then I was sold, even though I didn't pick up on half the stuff.

Dat OST tho. The min'yo esque BGM is just... Beautiful, I tell you.

I had to rewatch the latest releases of Arise about two times just to get the gist of what was happening.

Waiting for bigonanime to post the american view # for the premier of Space Dandy.

just discovered season 6 of Gintama exists! and then a final movie. Loved every 256 episodes of that show, so glad to discover there are 13 and a movie more! And, inspired to rewatch the whole freaking series.

We're not going to see the Nielsen ratings that don't matter (Because they're the total ratings, not the demographic ratings (And Nielsen TV ratings accounts for only an extremely small portion of the US anyway)) for another couple of days.

We'll probably never know how well it did in the ratings that actually matter that [adult swim] doesn't show us anymore.

Chyea, Innocence is awesome. 👍

No offense, but... it definitely is not good.

Not opinion, just cold facts.

But to be fair, I haven't seen the second season of K-ON yet, and I've seen other shows where the first season sucked big hairy donkey bananas but the second season turned out much better... *cough*clannad*cough*

Not that I'm trying to imply that this might also be the case with the second season of K-ON though, since, y'know, it's K-ON. :P

I agree, Black Lagoon is one of the best series I've ever watched. It's pretty much an anime for Tarantino fanboys, but that's far from an insult.

I meant that in a good way. And I am bit of a Tarantino fan, now you mention it.

Not yet, no. But the first season of xxxHolic, while not stellar or anything, certainly didn't suck anything either.

Jesus, you guys really love crapping on people, don't you?

This isn't the first instance of "the thing that you like sucks because it just does omg" that I've had here, either.

Your opinion is still opinion. Saying "LAWL THAT ANIMU SUXXX" literally helps nobody. I've noticed that in specialist circles like this one, nobody seems to grasp the concept that the most effective way to get someone to listen to your points is to be nice to them. This is one of the most unwelcoming threads on this entire forum, and I watched the way you ritualistically rip into eachother for a long time before working up the courage to post here. The issue is that I get chewed out every single time I post about an anime that I'm currently watching, because one of you believes that their opinion means more than that of another person. Your opinion is not fact. Nobody's opinion is fact.

It's exactly the same in the audiophile community, the furry community, any specialist videogame forum (4Chan's /v/ is a real hole) and again with music fanatics; it's common practice that if you don't like someone else's opinion, it's totally okay to take a dump on them and bash their tastes to make yourself feel superior. Unless another person is actively insulting you, I really don't see a valid reason to carry on behaving in that abrasive manner, especially not to someone who's relatively new to a thread.

I'm not even going to bother going into my reasoning as to why I like this anime. Nobody listens when I do; you're probably more interested in trading insults than you are in actual worthwhile discussion, anyway, so there's no point.
