Has anyone seen Ep. 13 of Kill la Kill yet?

I should have known something was up when Narita or whatever his name was had a fringe over his left eye! I wasn't expecting Nui to return so quickly and kick Ryuko's ass again, either.

I'd guess that Ryuko's about to join...
...NUDISTU BICHU!

^
I watched it today.
Looks like she now lost her Kamui. What is she going to do now? I never would've guessed that to happen so soon.

I started Psycho-Pass a few days back, and thus far it's very interesting. I really like the opening and ending songs too. Suppressing crime via pre-judgment is a pretty intriguing way to do it, but I feel even that won't hold up much. To be honest, living in that kind of world is a no for me but I can see how it makes society safer.

I just remembered what my favourite anime opening is. (Still not quite up there with the Thunderbirds opening, however.)

Thoughts?

To put my thoughts (on KLK 13) into a single image :

Anchorman-well-that-escalated-quickly.jpg

(please let me know if thats not the anchorman meme; its not showing up for some reason)

It's showing up fine for me, and I fully agree with Ron about the latest episode. ;)

Assuming I'm moderately understanding what you mean by "lameness", most of it comes from Vash and his intense insistence on either being a total pussy or injecting totally inappropriate humour into situations, yeah?

Turns out that it's a fairly vital part of his character. It's not just for ***** and giggles. If you're expecting Gurren Lagann levels of awesomeness, it's never going to happen. It's not that sort of show.

Then again, Kenshin has kind of the same thing and you said you dislike that as well, so perhaps Trigun is not a show that you'll ever enjoy. Not because there's anything wrong with the show, but more because the message being sent isn't one you're interested in. There's a few shows where the protagonist was an enormous badass and the show follows him in his twilight years where he's reformed/tries to make amends/whatever, so it's not a unique type.

(I should note that while I like the concept of Kenshin, I dislike the series past the first wee bit simply because of it's Dragonball Z levels of epic foot dragging. Get on with the :censored:ing story already.)

I'd almost say that Bebop is an example of this type of show, in that Spike now goes around helping people instead of being an epic yakusa badass. Faye and Jet don't fit the mould really, but the Spike-centred storyline does anyway.

Those types of shows can be good if you get into the character development, but you really can't approach them expecting the same things you would from a more action oriented series. By definition, the whole point of the story is that the protagonist avoids confrontation by any means possible.

Translation: it sucks. But thanks for putting it in a scientific manner. Maybe Seph will understand now. He's a cientist you know 👍

also I'll say this: even if Spike isn't in bad-ass Yakuza mode, he is always in bad-ass mode in stark contrast to the Vash and Kenshin idiots who are always in idiot mode and 3.5% of the time in bad-ass mode. They suck.

I just remembered what my favourite anime opening is. (Still not quite up there with the Thunderbirds opening, however.)
Thoughts?

I sometimes forget there are "new" members to this community. Do your life a favour and get the album from which Duvet comes, Twilight by Bôa (Watch out for the craptastic Boa k-pop band, however). It is one of the best albums you've never heard. Ask the people in here.

If you're talking exclusively about the op secuence of Lain, yeah it's bad ass. But Twilight is even moar bad ass.

Way to take what I said out of context. It sucks FOR YOU. Don't try and twist my words into something they're not.

For those of us who enjoy and appreciate that kind of show, it's one of the best of it's kind.

Most people can appreciate a good show even though it's not to their taste. I'm not into magical girl stuff, but I can see how Madoka is pretty awesome to people who like magical girl shows. You apparently can't do that, which sort of negates any validity that your opinion might have had.

If you can't see why what you've called "idiot mode" is a central part of Kenshin and Vash's character, then you're never going to get it. You don't have to like it, but that's the story that the author is trying to tell.

And here was me thinking I'd found another fun thread to talk with people on GTP. Oh well, ignore button and move on.

Hey Imari, don't let Cano ruin the thread for you.

Cano, stop acting like a jerk.
If you don't like the show you don't like the show but don't act like your opinion is the final verdict and outweighs anyone else's.

Just remember to keep it polite.

This picture is exactly one of the many reasons why Cano does not like Trigun. Trigun tries to be badass then falls down to kiddie level stuff, just like Eureka Seven.

I am still willing to give both another shot but stuff like that bugs me. Code Geass kinda does it too, but Lelouch is consistency badass, and the lighter moments are when he's doing stuff a student would normally be doing. Unlike Vash being a clumsy idiot and Renton being a cry baby and playing soccer out in public WHILE THEY ARE ON THE RUN.

Actually don't bother with Trigun, just watch Code Geass.

I couldn't stand the art of code geass.

I just can't stand the art itself.
The characters are all so poorly styled that it comes out looking like a child drew everything while watching episodes of Yu-Gi-Oh.

I liked Trigun, but i remember seeing CG on Toonami or Adult Swim or W/E it was on and thinking it was just a really dumb and out ther kinda show but since i was into Gundam back then and thought its view toured mecha was odd i'll give it a chance again down the road.
And ive heard of Lelouch but seeing as how this is the 1st time since it aired that ive heard about it again it couldnt of been all that great..

Now that i see Kent's reply i remember bits of it now and ... Yeah maybe not lol.

Is rather watch Witch Hunter Robin, anyone remember that ?

Isn't that art style CLAMP's thing?

That's because it's 'old'. When I finished watching it, I was astounded on how I went without watching it. Funny art or not, it is in the top 10 shows I recommend. There are so much moments with Code Geass, but the one that sticks out the most is the relationship between Lelouch and a certain female.

If you like Breaking Bad, you will like Code Geass. Similar character developments between Walter and Lelouch.

Same. I couldn't before I got into it, but once story kicks in, art didn't matter anymore and it later grew on me.

Translation: it sucks.

Even worse than me. And only one person gives you flak for this garbage....

After listening to some of the KLK OST, I think I'll order it now :)

👍 After a short talk about deciding what we thought was the best OST of 2013, I chose KLK for its variety of battle themes over AOT.

And you're still missing the point. Vash (and Kenshin) are self-determined pacifists. The core value of those characters is that they refuse to fight. Saying they're not badass enough is like saying that Buddha wasn't Jewish enough.

That you two don't enjoy characters like that is fine. But you can hardly knock a show for having them. Do you say that rom/coms suck because the protagonists spend too much time crying or cracking jokes?

You're trying to fit the show into a mould that it doesn't fit, and complaining about it. It's quite good at being a character driven dramatic comedy. It's a fairly awful action show.

And there is a difference between Vash and Renton (who I will admit was genuinely annoying, for most of the same reasons that original Shinji was bloody annoying). Vash is clumsy and stupid on purpose. The show is so unbelievably clear that all his antics are a big snow job that I don't see how you could miss it.

Code Geass is an entirely different kettle of fish. Lelouch is willing to cast aside any and all morals for the sake of results, and is (nearly) unflinching in paying just about any cost. He knows exactly what he wants, and gets it however he can. The show is far less about his personality (which is pretty simplistic) and more about the political machinations and tactics employed.

Dude... I would destroy/obliterate/ruin/implode Anya and Kallen. Then do it again. Again... And Again. Take a break. Then again.

IRL the best thing you can do is let go of the ridiculous ideals of anime.

Regarding Trigun,

I believe he meant buhda isn't hindu enough... Not exactly sure about the reference.

That said,
Vash and Kenshin were, indeed, both pacifist. They are both so incredibly badass that they only avoid taking lives by pretending to be idiots. Both have the skill to easily walk over opponents (and regularly do) while avoiding situations where scumbags force fights and end up "doing-themselves-in" without even knowing it.
If you can't appreciate the character development and importance of the pacifism that both vash and kenshin show then say you don't like it or say it's not for you- don't insult everyone who likes the shows by calling them crap.

Wise-up. :unamused:

And what is my first impression while gazing at Trigun? It looks like a pretty badass action show. And it's not.

I never said it's crap, I said I don't like it for reasons you stated. It's an awful action show. You're taking this waaaaay too seriously.

God forbid we should actually discuss the shows...

I never said it's crap, I said I don't like it for reasons you stated.

Then my apologies for assuming.

Cano is stating that it's categorically crap, which is a grave injustice to the show. I wouldn't want someone else who might enjoy it to read his opinion and think that it actually applies universally.

I mean, my favourite show is Haibane Renmei, so that sort of shows you in which direction my tastes lie.

Finally, Go! Go! 575's first episode was subbed.
It's a shame to be so short (5min), but that art style is so lovely.
Besides being Japan's best Trance producer, Hiroyuki ODA is also a great illustrator.

You're taking what I said too seriously. I'm hypothetically speaking. I guess this is why ARM exists :P

Trigun = Americans who have seen it when they were young = overly attached. My hypothesis.
