As for the title of the latest season of Highschool DxD, why am I reminded of this video whenever I read or think of it and would I be surprised if the characters did a cover of this?

Yep, the title of the music video is "Born to be Alive". :D

In my opinion, this song goes a tad bit better with DxD BorN than the song you've suggested, which it's quite catchy, I have to say.

Still, people have pointed out that BorN can mean various things: for example, Boobs/Breasts or Nothing (self-explanatory), Butts or Nipples (referencing Vali and Issei's fetishes, respectively, for the "b-side" and breasts), or even make a nod to the Ragnarok (think about it; first off, Loki is going to appear in this season).

I'm tempted but I'll wait until the season is done

If you've seen it, how is it so far?
Well, I guess you know, it's a spin-off based on the alternative story shown in Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya. Only the characters are the same as in the original Melancholy (except for Yuki, who is completely different, and Asakura doesn't try to kill Kyon anymore (but there is a reference to the original Ryoko in the very first episode :D) )

I've read the first two manga volumes and I thought I won't like it much (romance - not my favourite genre), but after the first anime episode, I say it worth watching. Something to laugh at, even more funny moments than in average Melancholy episode.

Asakura will be seen way more often than in the original story, I like it. One might say, she's one of the main characters.

How horizontally slanted Homura is in that parody of Tombo's Propellor is off the charts.

Also, I gave Disappearance of Nagato Yuki a whirl this morning. Seems like it's going to be a fairly dumb watch. It's not by KyoAni and each character is a bit less like themselves. It's a spin off, and my expectations were elsewhere. Therefore any further watches can be called off.

The big question now is will it be a hit or not.

Not really. I don't think it's a very question to ask because we have no idea what to expect this early on.

A better question we can instead ask (towards the end) is whether you feel what messages it tries to convey was worth the amount of time you needed to commit to receive it.

The messages were blatantly obvious even from the start. If the show is able to stretch the messages out and to do it well until the ending passes, is something your question tries to ask.

edit: wow, I'm thinking like a teacher...

Granted I haven't seen the episode to confirm that, but some shows I've watched deliver a message in the first episode that doesn't match that by the last episode. I like to believe Shigatsu was one of them.

Got my Madoka Rebellion Limited Edition in the mail. Shipped on the 3rd and arrived on the 4th. To Hawaii. Via the US Postal Service. Probably the fastest I ever had anything come in the mail.

I thought the box would be a little bit thicker than the US LE of the TV series. Nope, same thickness. But I have the Imported release as well so whatever.

I've finally got around to watch the first episode of High School DxD BorN. I've decided to watch it before seeing my Furious 6 Blu-ray copy. In my opinion, it has been a great debut for the third season; I loved the brief discussion between Issei and Azazel at the Underworld onsen. Only High School DxD can make perverted talks absolutely majestic and awe-inspiring. Plus, the episode introduction was heartwarming and funny at the same time: I almost wetted my undies when I saw Akeno popping out from the sheets. She then started flirting with Issei - something to expect from her - but that came to Rias and Asia's chagrin. Cue the catfight.
Come at me, episode 2! :sly:

Think I'm gonna take a break from anime for bit....

Well because yeah, these arrived.....

Yay, now I won't be the only one playing Enthusia on here. :D

Thought I was the only one right now, the Enthusia section is quiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeet.

*sees Ridge Racer V, Auto Modellista, and Enthusia*
You lucky bastard. I'd love to have a PS2 with just these three games (and Gran Turismo 4, too).

Don't get me started on the PS1, Bust a Groove for starters.... That's why its good to keep your consoles:sly:

Anyways, back to your regularly scheduled thread topic

I had a think now, I guess some games could do with a GOOD anime adaptation.

Parasite Eve (I think I mentioned it in this thread) and Xenogears, man Xenogears would be great with an adaptation.

If memory serves, Gainax or Madhouse made a short film for Final Fantasy VII which was pretty much the story for Crisis Core. Was it decent at least if anybody has seen it?

A peer of mine is reassuring me Plastic Memories is going to be a good show despite it only being the first episode.

Guess I'll give it a whirl so we'll have some common ground. It seems he's the type of anime fan I don't converse well with.

Auto Modellista

You ain't missing much. The cel-shading, cosmetics and garage personalization are fun, but the physics take the fun out of the game pretty fast.

lol if they put Auto Modellista on the PC with a few graphic touches and a revamped physics system then people like me would stop playing Street Legal Racing Redline.

On a more related note...

If you liked Chobits, then you'll surely have something to like about Plastic Memories.

I've never watched Chobits, but I remember dropping it for some reason.

Oh yeah. This is Winry Rockbell. Full Metal Alchemist. Next week's looks good.
