So I finished Welcome To The NHK. The ending was alright but the show itself was good. Sato just made me facepalm in many instances.

I started Death Parade just now and wow, I'm feeling it

Debating between starting Initial D or Nichijou after DP.

Week... 24: C.C. (Code Geass).

Definitely not an unpopular one, but heck, the expression of melancholy is illustrated so well in my eyes.

Start. Initial D. Already. If you still haven't.

Every time I debate about watching anime, it's "Rewatch Initial D again" or "Watch something new". Like... Hajime no Ippo, for example. Still haven't seen it.

Grr. I'd be making Itasha Hot Wheels.. but I ain't buying a new printer yet.

That Junketsu Aventador idea still has not made any progress either.

You're fighting a losing battle, knowing your opponent (aka the person you're quoting)...

I'll put it in a better way; if you're a huge car fan, and just want to see some metal go sideways while Eurobeat plays loud on the background, watch Initial D. If on the other hand you want proper storywriting, care for characters and expect nothing short of deep, engaging plots, don't watch Initial D. As a car showcase, it's great. As an actual anime? Not so much... It feels a bit hollow most of the time.

If you want a car showcase, play Gran Turismo. Initial D has worse graphics, lacks interactivity (let alone a decent handling model), and tries to tie in the most bland plot line in history.

Watch Nichijou if you want to laugh your head off.

Considering there is only few cars or motorsport theme anime out there, I think this one should be interesting :

Yes, it's fanart though, and also I found this in official Toyota Gazoo Racing website http://ms.toyota.co.jp/jp/wec/special/24h-lemans-cartoon.html. The site is Japanese so I not really understand what is it about, but the drawing is nice though...

I thought this could be an alternative from the mainstream shows we have right now, especially for petrolhead!

Damn... imagine watching LMP class and GT class cars racing each other in La Sarthe with added story, drama and a bit of plot twist that would be amazing! XD

I would genuinely pay attention to something like this.

Well, if anything, they both lack a course creator, so it's not like they don't have similarities. Initial D does manage to have less Skylines per square mile than GT, and they're in the hands of proper drivers (for the most part).

But jokes aside, I know that Initial D is flawed, period. But making an interesting car anime/manga seems to be an utopia that no one can achieve. Not yet, at least. So, we have to take what we can get, even if it isn't the best quality product around...

 you're not helping your cause with that gif, it's terrible  as is Initial D.

No! We dont! That's exactly the matter here. Initial D is beyond terrible, and it absolutely numbles my mind why would anyone want to see it, it sucks, plain, simply and plainly and simply. You a "car fan"? Go watch Hot Version videos instead, and don't lose your time in something so excruciatingly bad.

If I said I wasn't expecting you to say that, I'd be a terrible liar, really. I won't say much more, since I am already familiar with your arguments, so can we at least agree that we can have right of choice and leave it at that? I won't even try to contest your point.

Of course, everyone has the right to watch trash as they please. I just feel I should warn them.

As long as I don't watch Mars of Destruction or Violence Jack, I'd say I'm good enough in thrash avoidance, thank you very much. Now that is true trash in my eyes. To be duly honest with you...

Fan service in Initial D: when a car approaches a corner, you catch a glimpse of panties brake calipers or exhaust backfire.

What is Initial D for me? Much more than just an anime. Something I rewatch far more often than Evangelion. Especially the Fourth Stage, my favourite. My friend, who doesn't like anime at all, got addicted to this when I showed him a couple of First Stage episodes.
I don't understand why some anime addicts don't like it. Maybe, it doesn't have what they expect of a typical anime. No moe, no pantsu?.. :D

I just had a weird idea a few days ago: some sort of cross (but not an actual crossover) between Capeta and Girls und Panzer.

I second this.

Initial D in terms of technical execution and production quality is admittedly trash, for lack of better terminology.
That being said, it got me pretty pumped and hell, I like cars.
This is a forum based around automotive culture, so I wouldn't seriously be surprised to see that Initial D is held in generally high regard by many people here.

So my opinion? I loved watching Initial D but I can understand Cano's viewpoint of "oi m8 it's trash."

Kind of off topic but Girls und Panzer isn't that far off from Girls und Panoz.

I'll see myself out now.

General body position sketched out, but it happned again, I missjudged my proportions and as the drawing happened, it turned out too big, so no full-body this week either. But it's coming along nicely 👍 I'm liking the armor.

People are allowed to watch Initial D* and enjoy it all they like. It's just there are much better ways to spend and enjoy that time, such as doing the washing up, watching paint cry, or searching restlessly for socks when your train leaves in eleven minutes.

/brutal honesty

*Note that this logic can be applied to almost any anime.

Pardon me, I'm going to watch Initial D now. I might as well watch Lucky Star as well, since I haven't seen either of them. Is there any other crappy animes that you guys don't like but I might?

/sarcasm

Or, y'know, alternatively watching this:
strike_witches_assemble__special_by_ioriasakura18-d692rwc.jpg

That show can't be that bad, right? Uh, right?

Pretty much all of them. Even a lot most of the ones I like love to little pieces are trash. Most anime is like comfort food, you don't watch it because its good, and certainly not because it's good for you. At least watching paint dry builds patience.

If I don't tell you to avoid an anime like the plague, it means it's something truly special or that I'm being sadistic!

They need some trousers.

Funny thing is, since we are talking about an anime (and especially since its Strike Witches), they would probably be sporting some (very tiny) skirts and then the designers/producers would say "There, now their pants don't show up. Except when wind happens. And when the camera angle is pointing upwards when they are climbing up a ladder. And..."

Firstly, that .gif was only posted due to it being of a GC8. ;) second of all, I never said it was good, all I've said it's worth the watch as a car enthusiast. If he watches the first episode and can't stand it, there you go, no harm done. But look at it this way, you yourself watched Initial D to try it out and see if you like it, so why not allow Tayeez to do the same? People have different tastes that are based on how they enjoyed it and whether they found it good - I didn't find Initial D to have outstanding plot but I sure as hell loved it for what it was. It changed my outlook on car culture, taught me things and looked awesome. And none of that would have happened if I had avoided it because someone didn't enjoy it.
