Haven't even opened the livery editor and I'm probably 20 hours into mine :scared::banghead::nervous:

... might be time to consider an alternate entry.

On the left is about 18 hours of hand tracing the image on the right.

It seems okay so far, drawing it up and trying to keep it efficient, but what's done so far is 30 decals (which I still need to optimise) - though breaking it down so far to sensible chunks has taken all night tonight. :(

Still got a way to go to replicate this photo I took in to 2015...

This is just incredible. I thought that I did a good job when making my Civic Jean Graton Art Car (and I even considered entering this round with it), but I'm miles and miles away from what you did. I really hope that you can make it in time !

Your NSX liveries are awesome, I've got quite a few of them, all with your work on them

Thanks ! It is really appreciated. I have some of yours too ;)

@syntex123 I'll try to check the entries before the deadline. There is many new people and even if the rules are quite simple if you're a regular user, the code and size are not that obvious if you are a beginner. Also for the next theme, I'll see what I can do as a demo entry, like I'd done for the Le Mans Team Work theme.

Looking through some of the entries here, and i feel like my Alpine livery is low-effort compared to some of the others' liveries (even tho i spent almost 5 hours on detailing )

Great job guys 👍

If @MatskiMonk is able to get his entry finished in time then I strongly believe that there shouldn't be a poll! Seriously if he doesn't win this competition then it'll be a massive disservice to the time and effort involved in recreating a detailed piece of artwork within the confines of the game's limits.

No offence to any of the other entrants, but what he's aiming to achieve is next-level and beats any livery created with Discovery section decals hands down.

I've been working on a new replica for the last week or so and keeping tabs on the other entries here and each day I've been in two minds as to whether or not I push myself to finish it in time or not. Today I'm firmly in the 'What's the point?' frame of mind.

Matski's efforts aside, judging by the reaction to certain entries so far, and as I feared when we discussed replica competitions last week, this is boiling down to a popularity contest rather than show of skill or attention to detail. With what's on the table so far I can't see how what I'm working on will stand any chance.

agreed. Before I entered my first comp I immediately thought the regulars who are known to churn out good work are going to be at the top of the poll but I'm just happy for people to see my work and ability!

but 100% of this livery is indeed complete, id vote for no poll and @MatskiMonk to get the win on this one. its not about the best looking car, its about the best replica. It should be equal if not better than the original and votes should be made based on quality, and detail. The alpine so far is my favourite! @OJT6627 low effort in your eyes but a great reproduction nonetheless

Agree 100% if Matski pulls that off it's a hands down winner.

And agree again on the popularity contest thing but it's a thing with the GTPlanet livery contest, like the rally car contest was won by a non-rally livery that could have applied to any car in any contest. It rarely boils down to firstly the theme of the contest, and secondly the detail because the locked comp shots don't let people show off the finer details of their creations, it's a good comp but seriously flawed.

Update on my entry: added the download link to my livery so you can check it out youselves ;)

Thanks a lot! Nice to hear that people like it :D
and bearing in mind that the car you have referenced looks like a render so your car looks more genuine with the chrome lights surround

Well I appreciate the kind words! As I think I said previously, it isn't be the case that the best liveries are the ones with the most amount of time spent working on decals, and being honest I'd probably never be able to achieve something like this if I wasn't simply copying something that already existed. In principle it's really no different to any other entry and there's plenty of great entries into this competition already 👍

I do want to take the time to compliment you on an incredible piece of work, be it copying/replicating or not. It takes heaps, and heaps of time to so so. And just to think about doing such a thing, you would need proper motivation to even start it. The aligator of my bomex brz for me was already mind boggling, and it isn't even accurate!

Good work! I love your commitment!

Get it done mate it will look awesome

its a combination of effort and likeness Your livery is going to be very identical to the original, without a doubt. but that amount of detail and likeness obviously comes with time. My corvette took me a good 10 hours the first time round and that wasn't done properly! Added another 8 hours fixing the little bits but I know Its still not perfect so by that, I wouldn't vote for it! Time spent isn't the deciding factor, time spent perfecting it is

Holy smokes, Matt. Keep going! The dedication you’re putting into this stretches beyond what I thought was possible. So good!

FINAL ENTRY

Michael Shank Racing Acura NSX GT3
#86 and #93 from 2018 (Jessica Karp design)

Some of you may know that if @syntex123 is a Nissan man, I more tend to be a NSX guy... When you speak about NSX and replica, the Michael Shank Racing team provides you a nice collection of bold, modern and stricking liveries. From the white and black sticks launch livery to the Liberty statue and Uncle Sam of last year's Watkins Glen, they are all nice designs (and you'll soon see them all in GT Sport but shhhhh). Following the trend of a pair of complementary liveries, Jessica Karp designed the 2018 versions with an urban look.

These two beast were a hell of a job. Half SVG, half in game shapes, they took so long to do... The two cars are not the same, nor they are symetrical. So basically despite looking quite similar I've had to build four liveries. In fact, at first I didn't want to enter with these ones, because the designs were so complex I thought I did many mistakes. But when I tried some comparison shots, it appeared that I was pretty close... so here they are ! One thing I like with this livery is also that it is not at all destroyed by the Sport Mode plate, so you can enjoy them as you wish !

I've also included the suit to fit the rules to the best, but with the low count of shots, you can see it better in the "race suit & helmet" thread.

That is simply fantastic, Julien. It looks identical! Like people have said, these competitions have escalated quickly, this round has been insane. Can’t wait to put up the poll!

Thanks, really appreciate it! And that’s true - we’ve gotten quite a lot of new people this round

As for the speeches about judges - we might need to introduce that if this level of awesomeness continues. Keep at it folks!

FINAL ENTRY

I tried to make my own tribute of the famous Vailant-themed Kremer Porsche 935,
Also I'm very new so please help me if I'm doing this wrong.

Is this the right format?
It looks right, but would like a second opinion.
Thanks!

Ouch. I thought my Corolla had a chance until I saw this. Fantastic work man.

It looks ok to me (though I can’t check picture sizes).

Though your images look a bit too blue? Did you change the camera settings at all (listed in the OP)?

How about a team of judges that give an extra award? The poll still remains and the winner gets to pick the next theme as usual, but the judges give an extra prize. You get to be a judge after you win a LEC for a said number of times (three may be a good choice?). How about it? Because indeed the level is rising insanely. This comp really brought out some insane stuff, I have no idea how I will manage to pick only three.

Not sure if I follow 100% here. Sounds like you’re onto something though

FINAL ENTRY
This is my first ever entry into one of these competitions so forgive me if i've done anything wrong!
So about the car. I love the Japanese Super GT500 series, it's such an amazing event that gets such little global coverage. When we was graced with 3 2016 cars in the game i knew straight away i had to make as many as possible. I did a few 2017 models but for full on accuracy i concentrated on the 2016s as they were all correct regarding aero and wing width.

This is the 2016 Honda NSX GT500 Drago Modulo. It was by far the hardest livery I ever made as i wanted it to be as accurate as possible to it's appearance at Suzuka, right down to the correct weight ballast. It used all 300 decals available on the body and in total was well over 400!

I've made a replica of one of the drivers suits and helmets to compliment it. This is Oliver Turveys as seen in the 2016 season. The helmet is as accurate as i could get but the terrible restrictions in the suit editor left me with little room to play with so please forgive any missing stripes!

The spoiler image is taken at the exact same spot at Suzuka as the reference photo!

Just wow, game over

Well, the situation is similar to what usually happens here in Italy during the Sanremo Song festival, where the winner is picked by spectators via SMS/social networks voting. Usually the winner is the most popular singer, not the one with the best song, but there is a jury of experts that gives another prize. Sure, the overall winner is still the one voted by the spectators, and his song is the one we people are forced to listen to over and over and over again on the radio, but the jury prize is still much sought after and a great honour. Since this point has been raised here as well...why not?

As for the contest, I guess I'll enter with a replica I've already made, I have no clues on what to do, especially considering how high the bar has veen set...it's Mount Everest high :P

I think something like what you’re suggesting is in the works already. More on that later. I don’t want to spoil anything yet. :D a few of us here are on the brink of a ‘LEC revolution’ ;)

I'm changing my entry. What's the chances I'll be allowed to edit my last post to something relative in the thread and post another with the new car so it actually gets seen?:confused:

It will get seen in the final poll regardless, so just editing your original post will suffice.

@syntex123 looking forward to that :P

No honorable mentions or outtakes, just your final entry, and no double posting. Other than that, do what you feel like. :)
