So how do you get your anime characters inside the 15kb limit?

Do you hand trace them? I tried using the trace bitmap option in Inkscape, but I am not even close. Even when splitting the image up into chunks.
Is there some secret method I am missing out on?

I wondered this, the Nier one I used came in 5 pieces but I've seen many full images on the discovery area and I'd love to know how this is done

minimize the path, reduce color choice, united the same color path that all will be help. Usually person use compression image online for svg like compressor.io or https://jakearchibald.github.io/svgomg/ but making that all under 15kb with only 1 image is one hell job you must reduce the quality but still looking good. I bet there's some way but I didn't figure how to do that

here's mine SVG for 2 character I still can't manage under 15kb and I must divide till over 5 parts

if you want know better maybe should ask some Japanese how they do that.

I know someone who can do anime decals and it's @Mistah_MCA. He did some of my anime decal requests and they all look fine. He might help you.

There's no easy trick, they're just really efficiently drawn, using as few nodes as possible, in a scale that requires as little decimal accuracy as possible. It's hard to achieve this at all if auto-tracing, and time-consuming to get right if drawing by hand.

If anyone needs help getting decals for this competition, let me know. I'm off this week so I can definitely crank some out.

If anyone is curious on how I do it: I hand trace them. I've tried the auto trace feature on Illustrator, and personally I've never been satisfied with the results.

Comes down to how many nodes are in the vector graphic..less nodes = smaller file size

FINAL ENTRY

So after missing the inhouse work LEC, I decided I wouldn't miss this one as well. I'm not into itasha at all, despite being into anime quite a lot, and this one was my first ever try at this particular style. The protagonist had to be my waifu, EVA's best girl, the one and only Queen Asuka...luckily, the Discover section was my friend and I found this beautiful portrait of her split into six parts.

The car was designed to be a fictional M6 GT3 racing in the Super GT300 class, and of course it had to be from EVA Racing. The paint is a large flakes orange (O1 I think), the livery is Sport Mode compatible, though the small rear plate is not (but it is mandatory in a SGT car, so it is what it is). Hope you guye like it! You can download it here if you want:

EDIT: and of course I forgot the yellow headlights. Will edit it tomorrow. :banghead:

EDIT 2: fixed the headlights, they are now yellow (as indicated in the GT300 regulations). Also changed the link with the updated one.

I feel a bit colour blind with all these entries. I've already expressed my thoughts on itasha and I just struggle to see variety. This is my opinion and of course not everyone likes everything! So don't take it personally. I just know I'm going to find it very hard to choose my poll choices! So complex so far in the designs and here you have my generic race car with a woman on it haha

Don't worry you can pick mine! My entry has a teenage boy who's part of a biker gang on the side of it :D:tup:

you dont need a tablet to execute amazing vectors

I have in the past done a lot of pen and ink drawings based on a certain style of drawing and characters from an old C64 computer game. My hope was to recreate those. There are other ways I could do it (I.e. physically draw, scan, then retrace) but I was hoping it would be less time consuming this way.

I think I may change my entry a bit, having seen a few more examples I'm not sure mine is as 'Itasha' as it should be. The more I look at it, the less happy I am with it

FINAL ENTRY

First of all, when it comes to Asian manga/anime art I feel something like Jon Snow.
Since this competitions allows animated characters of all over the world I’d like to go with Disney’s NEMO.
I created my “Racing Nemo” Ferrari 458 GT3 because of its slippery design and because I love Disney’s films
and characters too. Hope you like it. I really had fun creating this funny livery.

Nice work from everyone so far !

I’ve started 3 different projects but they are all time consuming as the decals didn’t exist yet...

I also was thinking about a Metal Gear car but @Azabear6 Zonda is already amazing (even if it is not the one in the competition). Hopefully I can finish at least one of the three this week-end !

I'd love to see an MGS theme'd car, the decals needed would be a fair bit of work I think though... I still want to do an MGS2 GACKT livery!

Anyway, look alike I can't get some decent internet from today (Saturday) till next week. Have need moving and I use mobile internet lately and it near limit, so I can't lurk almost everyday or everyhour.

But if you think breach the rules or something just tag me I'll read it or maybe Cy and other guy will help together to make it right. :gtpflag:
