GTVO819... No Worries ... I always admit to being wrong... You are absolutely "correct" in that the HKS will revert back to it's original color of red and bleed through somewhat. I painted the unpaintable HKS with Mitsu pure white in GE and tested it at the X. To save you the troubles, I have completed a short video which I'll leave up for today or so and will post it here very shortly by editing this post.

As promised here is the race reply video proof. Watch carefully during the camera transition when the car is far away as GTV0819 mentioned and the bleed is very clear when going under the tunnel...

Here are some photo stills which I will leave up after deleting my video after today...

I really like hearing of new glitches that I’ve never heard of before... so... thank you GTV0819 for bringing this to the forum... I do wonder if it is just the HKS race car or any other unpaintable GE hybrid including road cars.. ?

See, I told ya I was right.

This is what I'm actually trying to say, although I haven't tried this yet with another car which has a semi-modifiable paint. I think we should call it like that so at least there's a term for those cars that have paints which can only be changed using the garage editor.

I'm also curious to see too which among them have the same characteristic as that HKS Evo. Good thing you tried and see for yourself if it does happen. Try other cars like the 330 p4, xj13 or any other cars which also have semi-modifiable paints to see if this thing happens. If not, then it may be an isolated case for some cars there. Whether it's because of a glitch or the fact that the car has a fixed code in its paint, I guess it's inevitable and it seems there's no way to fix it once you see them like that.

I thank you for seeing my point in my replies and volunteering to post a video about that matter so that other players would be aware of this.

The XJ13 is a paintable car so I don’t think that would be an example although the special chrome colors I used are hybrid... you try the 330 P4 and let me know...

Intriguing.. I still don't have it yet but I also didn't knew you could do that with an xj13 after all. I'll try the p4 someday.

Good to know that at least some 20m cars are paintable too.

Edit: I finally found a link that works for a Garage editor. I want to make hybrid cars again, how many updates do I update until I stop if I delete my GT5 data?

Do I stop at 2.13? Because I heard 2.14 removes all the hybrids. It`s been a long time since I`ve been into all the modding. I should know this because I had one of the original modded cars back in 2012 (I think it was, could be wrong lol) was a red modded Civic `97. Would love to create that again!

Better stop at 2.11 if you want the best results. And the official garage editor is the one with 1.3.1 by slim355 & q-k. Otherwise, the 1.5 hybrid editor there is made by a different team, though it will work for until update 2.14. Still, 2.11 is the best version for hybrids.

Like GTV said, stop at 2.11.
Because I heard 2.14 removes all the hybrids.
It was 2.12 and onward that did that. However, it's worth noting the hybrids won't reset unless you view them. If you never touch them however, they won't reset.

I reverted back to 2.11 last year and I found that many of my hybrids I never used after updating were not reset since I never viewed or used them.

It was 2013 actually. As far as I can tell, it was January when we were introduced to hybrids in GT5, but it didn't become mainstream until months later.

Yep 2.11 is the to go... gotta watch out on some of the downloads lately... I’ve been looking for a Brute Force download for GT6 but every one that I have scanned is loaded with various virus... sure would like to find a clean BRUTE FORCE one, but always smart to scan the file first before unzipping...

The good thing that I like with the hybrid editor 1.5 is that it also allows you to place horns on cars that normally don't have it, which is good. This feature isn't present in the garage editor 1.3.1. The hybrid editor also allowed me to have hybrids until 2.14 before because all updates after 2.11, the garage editor became useless. And in update 2.15 onwards, you can never have or make any hybrids anymore. So if you want to make hybrids for personal use, better stick with 2.11. No hassle at all.

Wow, been hybriding for years and I didn't even know that!
I beg to differ. The editor did not become useless, just certain parts of it.
Pardon me lol I didn't mean to say that. But update 2.12 onwards destroys the essence of garage editor. You can't swap engines anymore or any other parts and use hidden items, which is sad. So it's really best to stay in 2.11.

However, I haven't tried to use my modded cars from the garage editor on updates 2.12 onwards and not viewing it in-game but still, I wouldn't risk my life for it.:lol::lol:

Oh, so it was just figure of speech then? Gotcha.

I do wonder though if you were to swap the engine to a car while on 2.12 and up, not view the car and then go back to 2.11, what would happen then? I imagine it would work as long as you don't view the car, but I frankly don't have the attention span to do it.

Maybe not because update 2.12 & above won't allow you to do so.

So you still have to revert back to 2.11 and do the usual thing again for the car to have it. If you don't have the 2013 Edition of GT5, which the update begins on 2.00 if I'm not mistaken, it will be a hassle and will take a while to go back in 2.11 once you remove the data files of this game in your hard drive.

By doing that, you also lose the tracks you made by track maker, replays and screenshots. So it's good to make a back-up for these files if you don't wanna lose them at all. :)

In theory it could work as long as you don't view them.

If you expect to drive them that is.

Unless you have jailbreak (which I do), it becomes a lot easier then, but I can't say much more than that.

But you can't always expect to not view them all the time which is a sad thing, especially if you race a lot and you love to play with the settings.

And even if the console is already obsolete, I wouldn't think of going in jailbreaking it maybe for personal reasons. Just my 2 cents.

Indeed. Now that I'm on 2.11 again, I have no desire to update it again.

I won't judge anyone who refuses to jailbreak their console. Though it's worth noting with jailbreak I was able to downgrade to 2.11 without even deleting all my stuff from my game data and I even tricked the game into thinking I was on the latest update, when in reality I am on 2.11, so no more annoying update prompts! :D

The game data has a PARAM.SFO file like the save data does and it contains info of things like what update you're on and such. If you replace it with one from a later update, the game will think you're on that update when you're not. Though I will not say anything more than that.

The risk of updating the game onwards 2.11 only becomes apparent if the system is connected to the internet while you're playing the game. In that case, it's annoying that the pop-out dialogue appears everytime which reminds you to update the game to the latest version and if you accidentally let it do the thing, then that's hard. But that could only happen if you are careless enough lol.

Long noob question incoming:
I'd like to use the "Receive All Presents" option in GE to get all the standard GT5 racing suits and helmets. Ideally I'd like to complete the game to 100% normally after getting those racing suits.

Does it actually give you every present in the game or just re-reward the ones you've already obtained? Does it cause problems in the future (i.e. when winning new prize cars/presents afterwards). Also, I'm all ears if there's a better way to add all that gear into my inventory!

I have one off topic question.. I'm on 2.17 so I won't bother with editor now.. I'm just enjoying it like it is.. But you mentioned helmetd and suits.. Is there way to get them somehow now when there's no online.. Because I didn't know that they disappear when you use them once and now my a spec guy look like an idiot..

I would like to make hybrids maybe in the future just to 'fix' alfa romeo FF cars and make them proper AR . FR

EDIT: Now that I said that I want to make proper Alfas so bad hahaaha.. I'll do my homework I guess

Of course, especially if you have other people who play it. Anyways, the point of my post is with jailbreak you can revert back to 2.11 and stop that dialogue box from showing even while connected to the internet. Just a thought.

If only I have more than one PS3 lol I would have considered jailbreaking it but I only have one.

Hi guys, I’m new to this community, and I’m also finally getting around to playing GT5 for the first time. Been enjoying it for several weeks. I’ve won gold trophies in most of the non-race car A-Spec events in the game. But I need some race cars to keep going. I’m a little too impatient to re-race a 5 or 10 lap race with an $80k prize 7 times for every $500k car I want. I need some $1m and $2m cars too. So I did some googling and found out about GE.

I have a PS3 at version 4.84. I have GE 1.3.1. I can edit a save file in GE, but when I put it back on the PS3 it doesn’t have any of the edited data on it. Has anyone else had this issue? Is there a solution?

You must downgrade the game back to version 2.11 for it to access and recognize the modified save which contains the modded cars. Updates above that won't allow for doing or using the mods anymore.

Crap. So that's what's going on. Because I just started messing around with the editor last night, could not see any results!!

Another thing. How come there's no instructions with the GE program? There's a readme, but all it contains are credits for programmers. I had to go on YouTube just to figure that part out. I got the editor from a website (can we name it? Or is that not allowed?) and it is 1.3.1

Not sure about that. Maybe they didn't include that at all to avoid the game developers from using the editor or something like that and to avoid these programmers are able to modify the save files of the game itself using this program.

I see. I wonder how far back 2.11 is? How much content would be missing? Would it be worth it? Guess it's time for more internet searches.

My first project. I was going to make the Audi A4 Touring Car with a Quattro drivetrain. hee hee

EDIT: version 2.11 goes back to 2013, so that's not so bad.

--The performance point (PP) adjustments that were made in the 2.10 update has been cancelled, and returned to the calculation method in 2.09. (I don't care. I never pay attention to the PP system).

-- The automatically selected rain tire type has been adjusted. Please note that this may change the normally recommended tire when entering the pit, and the pit timings of opponent cars during races. (This might be a problem for the AI, but I always manually select these tires)

--Adjusted the autopilot during changing road moisture conditions. (not sure what that means)

As long as the latest system of tire wear is in place I think I'm okay. It'd be too weird to back to the older system of tire wear, even though I like that system more.

EDIT 2: Version 2.02 contains the "tire wear speed adjustment" I'm thinking of, so I'm good there. Source.

You can still use the editor on update 2.12 and beyond, but if you expect to modify cars beyond their original parameters (such as engine or chassis swaps for example), that however will not work. The editor has plenty of other things you can do though. ;)

You really aren't missing anything on updates 2.12 and beyond. Going off memory, all they really did was remove hidden content and attempt to kill off hybriding. The latest update, however, did make it so you could still install previously bought DLC despite the servers being shut down, but I doubt you would have a use for it.

Bottom line, stay on 2.11, the later updates are just not worth it.

Sonygamer: hey thanks. I was reading this thread earlier today so I know that we can update past 2.12, but this limits how much modding we can do. So right now I'm only going up to 2.09 or 2.10. :)

VBR
:Awesome. You just saved me a lot of time! Because that page links to a site which displays how much memory each update contains. So I was able to make a list of how much megabytes (or kilobytes) each update contains, then cross off this list one by one.

In other words, my PS3 does not say which update is being processed, it only says how much ROM each update consists of,.

....Ah. 475 megabytes. That is update 2.06..... only a few more minutes.

If you have the 2013 Edition of GT5, it wouldn't be much of a hassle to go back in 2.11 since the game already comes in Spec 2.0, which means the update on that certain edition starts at 2.00.
