Just checking this is the right folder before zipping again (zipping the main BCUS98114 folder)
Nope, that's the game folder. Savedata is in another path. I'm not at home to check but from memory, it's dev_hdd0\home\<userId>\savedata\BCUS98114 or something.

You using RPCS3 or is that ftp to your PS3 console? If it's RPCS3, there should be a tool ror getting to the save data (somewhere in the menu bar at the top). But if you tried to open the game data dir in the editor instead of the save data, that would certainly explain the error you are getting.

Glad to see you got it worked out! I guess the takeaway here is you were trying to load your game data instead of the save data. :P My tutorial for getting all the DLC is in my signature if you need instructions on getting the DLC.

Hey guys. Just thought of something. Lets say someone is using the PS3 Emulator (RPSC3 I believe its called) and they are playing GT5 and decide to update to 2.11 . Is it possible for the DLC method to work towards the Emulator or is it PS3 only? Im really curious 🤔👀

I would like to know. If you can.
It's the same game, it works the same. The only difference is that the save data doesn't have the Sony layer encryption on but I recall I had support for both types of saves. And even my editor didn't have support for it, you could use other tools to make the save Sony layer encrypted so that it would be supported (e.g. for other save editors out there that were made before RPCS3).

While I see a lot of things that have been done with hybrids in GT5, something I don't see very often is people painting stock wheels and while Tim mentioned it earlier, there hasn't been much talk about it in here. Some cars have stock wheels that CAN be painted despite the game not allowing you to do so normally. There was a glitch people used to do back in the day that allowed them to paint stock wheels. While it's long since been patched, we have save editors that allow us to do this of course.

You can find a list of cars that allow this in these two threads:

Of course, I got curious and decided to test out a bunch of these cars by painting their wheels red on 2.11 just to see if it could still be done and this was the result:

There are many more I could cover, but I didn't find out about the others until after I took these screenshots. I intentionally chose red so the result would be easily noticeable and as you can see, these cars still work!

Now here is a little-known fact, the High End Performance G37 used to have paintable wheels via this glitch I mentioned earlier, but it was patched for some reason. I attempted to paint them on 2.11 and this was the result:

However, going back to 2.00 on the same save game, here was how it looked then:

Through my own research, I learned this car was patched in 2.04 so its wheels could no longer be painted and Razerman believes they updated the model to do this. Fortunately, we're in a day and age where modifying the game data is doable, and theoretically, I imagine just replacing the model from the earlier version of the car would allow them to be painted again on later updates, but I have yet to try this to see if it works.

So I am sure some of us who have used GE 1.3.1 before probably remember how it has a name changer, which allows you to change the car name here:
Gran Turismo 5_4.png

But when you look at the white text box that pops up when you change the view in your garage or look at the car in various other parts of the game, you notice the original shortname is still there:
Gran Turismo 5_5.png

You might be wondering, why is this? Well the truth is, they're two separate things. Much of the GT5 save data is an SQlite database and when viewing the database itself, we can easily see a lot of things in the save game, including the entry for the Toyota I posted above. That being said, here's an explanation for this.

What the name changer in GE 1.3.1. alters is the name_EN section for the car, which is where the name we see in the first photo is stored.
1.png

As for the 2nd photo, the car_code section in the above screenshot is what controls the name displayed in the white text box in-game. What the number for the car_code represents is the entry in the game data (not save data) to where the name is stored, namely in the specdb. In this case, that number is 1768 for this Toyota, and when you look at this ID in the specdb, you can see the car's ShortName matches that of what's in the white text box:
Untitled.png

So what this means is if you wanted to change the name in the white text box shown in game, pretty much the most you can do with a save editor is change the car_code to reference another preexisting string stored in the game data. If you wanted to type in something silly or personal though, you'd have to modify the game data itself to do that, which means if you change the name for the Toyota 86's entry, chances are every other Toyota 86 in the game would also have that name too.

Also, it's worth noting when you change the body for your car in GE, it does not change the aformentioned car_code in the save game. Which also explains why we still see the name of the donor car when looking at the white text box in game. In this case, the donor car here was a SambaBus which had it's parts swapped to that of the Beetle, yet it still shows the SambaBus's name here:

So anyways, if you ever wondered why GE 1.3.1 doesn't change the name in the white text box or why swapping the cars parts doesn't change the name either, well now you know!

So I mentioned this earlier, I got curious and decided to change the 86's ShortName to "Meow!" in the game datajust to see what happens and this was the result.

As you can see, by changing that, it means both cars in my garage will display that name in the white text box, but it don't stop there! This name also shows up in the dealership!

And even in races.

So yea, this post is basically an extension of what I said earlier on what happens if you change the cars existing ShortName in the game data.
