BINGO...............I went back and looked on the disc, and this time I used the copy and save function. The screen not exactly very helpful, but it copied a file to my thumb drive. I just put it on my pc, I saw where it was indeed PS3/SAVEDATA/BCES12345-GAME...and when I fired up GE, it worked and now I have GE available.

Ummm, so, now I guess my target is updating GT5 from 1.04 to 2.11? Do I need the patches? What do they give me?
Thanks everyone for your patience with the old sod.

Version 2.11 is the best version you would want to be because succeeding versions take out the modded files and would revert any modifications made in it back to original, except for some properties though.

But in case you got to above 2.11, there are other people who mentioned here that not viewing your modded car in the garage, which was modded in 2.11 or below, will not make it revert back to normal.

Still, modding in those updates would be such a hassle because you would see that modding your save file via the garage editor won't be the same and easy as those updates 2.11 & below.

They give you lots of bug fixes & new features. You need them. If you intend to do hybrid cars, then make sure to stop at 2.11. Here's a full list of what the updates contain, just click on the relevant link: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/thre...version-history-documentation-project.353607/

Thanks for the info. Very interesting. My journey begins. BTW...looking at the cars in GT5..a bit(lot) miffed my car is not in there, Porsche 911 close gate manual turbo. Had this girl from new and fantastic car. Apparently, it is in the GT Sports?

I think this is all, or at least some, of the Porches available in GT Sport:
  • Porsche 356 A/1500 GS GT Carrera Speedster '56.
  • Porsche 911 GT3 (996) '01.
  • Porsche 911 GT3 (997) '09.
  • Porsche 911 GT3 RS (991) '16.
  • Porsche 911 RSR (991) '17.
  • Porsche 962 C '88.
  • Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport '16.
  • Porsche 919 Hybrid (Porsche Team) '16.
Source...

Have a look at the Ruf cars - they're a small German company who build cars based on Porsche bodies. The Ruf BTR is basically a modified 930 Turbo 3.3 with 375hp, while the CTR is a much more heavily modified 930 with twin turbos and 470hp+.

The Porsche situation with videogames has been contentious for the last 20 years - they wouldn't allow Polyphony to use any of their cars in the Gran Turismo series until GT Sport.

Jumping ahead of achieving my updates for GT5 yet, just did the first Edit it the GE, and it worked, well the credits did. When I was playing with additional cars though, I got a few errors..eg, 414 and appears GE not happy. Though maybe because I am still at 1.04. Is there a list of errors and what they mean. Also, is there a manual of some sort that some kind soul has put together

Hello. I would like to ask a question in this topic. I would like to know if you still have to add costumes and helmets in GT5 even after the end of the online service if there is any way to add them by some hack like the GT5 Garage Editor, or if there is not any possibility of adding this function in this save game hack program? I would very much like to have more costumes and helmets because I started a new game and I only have 8 costumes and helmets and there is not one that is cool. It would be great if you had this function. Thanks !

There's no easier way to receive suits and helmets anymore after the server got closed down for GT5 last 2013, I assume. AFAIK, the GE does not have the option to add these too but I may be wrong on this one.

No the garage 1.3.1 that I have got does not have that option, and I think the other programs don't either.

Part of the reason I never bought GT6 is because all the stuff it took me 5 years to earn was unlocked for everyone in GT6 which means they realized their mistake but want to pretend that they didn't. Like the used car dealership, some cars were so hard to get it would take years to catch one of them for sale. Lord forbid we own two of the same car, because that's cheating! Then you can buy any used car you want from the dealer in GT6 like it's nothing. )

GT6 is fun too, I've been going through its early races slowly over the past few months here and there. But I do miss the concept of the Used Car Lot. I miss the surprise of finding THE CAR I was looking for, after so many weeks and even months. Even with the Garage Editor, which allows me to add any car at any time, I still check the UCL.

In other words, I've been in the habit of doing a few races, checking the lot, doing a few more, checking the lot again. GT6 offers no surprises, since almost everything is available from the getgo.

If this program had this option, then yes it would be complete. in a previous save I wore Kazunori Yamachi's helmet with a white suit with purple and I wanted to have them again in my new save game

I'm also looking for items that's not usual in the game. In my case, I'm looking for car horns but I wasn't able find at all. Even the GE doesn't have it, which is a sad thing. When the servers for GT5 were still active way back then, it was easy to get some just by participating in the online races but now, it's not like that anymore.

Once I have completed a title several times, I like to go back and load up on all the items so that I can stick it in anytime I feel like going back for some quick fun runs after work. That's what frustrated me about GT5 until I was able to trade online for things I was unable to locate on my own. I got the GE after online service terminated and that has extended the play life of GT5 for me being able to paint my cars in hidden colors not available normally. I love that kind of stuff. I can relate to the Porsche dilemma. Porsche and Ferrari have their own respective languages spoken exclusively by fans of those marques. Need for Speed Porsche Unleashed was one of the least popular titles of that series because it was only Porsche. But I loved it precisely because it was all Porsche and I learned so much from that game about all the various models of 911 and the associated "Porsche Science" :) I love all the little details of the cars that make each one unique. I even look up names of paint colors to see why they name colors things like Tivoli Blue or Ascari Red Pearl. It's very interesting if you love cars.

I'll mention this again in reference to Helmets, Suits, And Horns... In Garage Editor by reloading over and over again the "Receive All Presents" you will be able to get most all the GT type Helmets And Suits just by loading it, saving the game and redoing it again and repeat. As far as horns you can easily get to 150 horns by simply adding cars to your garage to a max of 2000. As you get to a higher number you will start getting rewards of horns especially between 1800 cars and 2000 cars in your garage. No online required.

Great idea though I've yet to see if this will work for me. It's only now that I've learn about this stuff, that it's actually possible with the use of GE. Thanks for the tip. ;)

Hey, so I came here because I've been having problems recently with the GT5 Garage Editor. Basically, whenever I transfer my data from PS3 to my PC and I load the save file into Garage Editor it shows my data like credits and gamedays etc. but all of it is grayed out and I can't use it. I can't go to other tabs either. I tried redownloading but it didn't work either, can anyone give me help? I think my game is on version 2.2 but I don't remember what it is on. Any help is great, thanks!

Updating it to 2.11 will solve your problem. I also had that issue before when going in GT Mode while I was in 2.02 or 2.05 something. I'm not sure though what's causing that gray out either. Must be a menu bug in that update.

It seems that my version is 2.17 which should be the latest patch, if 2.11 is the only functioning patch for GE is there a way to go back?

Delete the Game Data in your system and download it again. If you have the Spec 2.0 or the 2013 Edition, you should be able to see that there are 17 updates from version 2.0 that will be downloaded. If I'm not mistaken, you should stop in the 9th or 10th downloaded update, which will show in the screen as 9/17 or 10/17. Along the way, there's also an update, version 2.06 that has 475mb. Then the other succeeding updates are much smaller than that. Just make sure to stop at version 2.11, as it's the latest update in the game that lets GE still work fine. After that, not anymore.

Here's more information containing about these updates.

It says there are 27 updates but I'll check the version after 9 to make sure. I'll let you know if it works, thanks!

Ah, you must've had the older version of GT5 then, the one that doesn't contain Spec 2.0 yet. It will take you more updates to get there then.
Anyways, good luck and welcome to :gtpflag:too. :)

I probably went up to 2.11, I don't remember. Glad to see somebody here remembers me from earlier times.
Sonygamer, if you remember me from my early days, you'll remember my occasional online brawls with HYBRIDLVR. I used to chastise him for hybriding GT2 back in the mid 2000s. And he used to call me "boring" for sticking to the vanilla game only.
I remember you in my early times here, but not your early times. I prefer vanilla GT2 as well, but that's a good story for another time.
But in case you got to above 2.11, there are other people who mentioned here that not viewing your modded car in the garage, which was modded in 2.11 or below, will not make it revert back to normal.
It was I who mentioned this and I'll say it again. If you update to 2.12 and beyond, your hybrids won't be reverted unless you view them. If you don't view them, they won't reset.

I updated to 2.17 years ago and didn't touch many of my hybrids in my garage. Then once I went back to 2.11, I noticed all my untouched hybrids were still intact.
GT6 offers no surprises, since almost everything is available from the getgo.
I actually prefer this over GT5's UCD. I will admit, I did enjoy constantly checking the UCD in GT5, it gave me something to look forward to, but it was also annoying at times. I could see a rare car like the 2J show up only to realize I do not have enough credits and then once I get the credits, it's gone and I have to wait forever for it to show up again only for the situation to repeat itself. And then of course you have the oil and engine which is bound to bad and you'll have to get that fixed which can be pretty costly.

Though I prefer GT5 over GT6, I do love the convenience of being able to buy any car at any time.

That's odd, it doesn't do that with me unless I haven't loaded mine yet.

Not to be snarky, but did you click "File" and "Open Garage" and then navigate to your save game?
It seems that my version is 2.17 which should be the latest patch, if 2.11 is the only functioning patch for GE is there a way to go back?
I know I'm too late, but GE works on updates 2.0 and above according to NGU and you can still use it on 2.17, but certain things, like engine and chasis swaps obviously won't work in game. ;)

That's why version 2.11 will still remain a lot special to people who are into hybriding in GT5.

Yes, we all know that GE can still work in 2.11 above but what's the point of updating above it when you can risk losing all the mods to your cars which may revert to default if you suddenly view it in your garage for tuning purposes or that you can never use certain useful mods of GE to your cars there anymore like engine swap, chassis swap, any other parts swap and etc. because the game negates it? Even if you have the files for the saves and game datas to back it up, it's not worth the time if you ask me.

That's why people prefer staying in that certain update. People who used to tune their hybridded cars might not be satisfied seeing their rides revert to default forms once they view it there. I have experienced that a few times before and it was really frustrating.

Oh I don't disagree with 2.11 being the best for hybrids, I myself prefer it as well, I was just clarifying that the garage editor will still load your save on 2.17 since Moony apparently thought it didn't.

Even if it does load up in 2.17 or any other updates above 2.11, it's still hard to recommend it though. The risk just isn't worth it at all.

And I agree 100%, but again, my point in posting that was just to clarify it still can load saves on 2.17. It certainly ain’t as good as 2.11, but it's still useable.

Thanks for the help, I got my game updated to 2.11 and now it works. It may be my version of GE that doesn't allow me to use it on 2.17, because it did not work for me on that patch, so it's probably a problem on my end. Either way, it's fixed now, so thanks!
