Since the Spec 2 update I struggle to connect to rooms, not sure if it is bad luck, connection, or game disk...

I can now confirm I have more problems with the gamer after spec 2.0.
749 error so I cant connect or LS on several players that will get me disconnected.
Online is basically useless! And I only wish to play online..

New update around the corner, but guess it will do nothing good.. Ill probably report back in this thread.

Also, I have tested a "new" ps3. I used to play on a 40gb fat-version. No I borrow an even older 60gb version. Same problems. Will probably get a slim version in a couple of weeks (on warranty)
But so far, changing PS3 does not do anything with the problem.
It seems to be that GT5 does not function properly with certain ISP and router combos.. :(

Now I don't know about the 749 error on spec 2.0 but with the loading stripes, leave and rejoin the room. Worked for me.

I having problem of cannot find online players room. I have set the Region to All over in world, i ususally easily to find Japanese player room. after i updated to v2.01 yesterday... can't even find a single one... what should i do???

I refuse to buy DLC packages before they fix the online connection problems..
They should really sort out major issues before dealing with that stuff. All people should be able to race online without issues..
How hard can it be? In every other game I have played online works..

i have alot of the probs u r on about with getting disconnected its so annoying my bro has gone and got a xbox i dont want 2 i love ps but hes not getting kicked from races i mite have 2 go down that road pleas help i have tryed the port thing still s**t i think its been bad since the psn got hacked again HELP

I got to be one lucky guy, I race in a championship every weekend and it do happen we have some problems, but they always seem to be fixed.

And when it comes to private lounges. It's a mesh system, working peer to peer connection so if you have your PS3 on a fixed IP and DMZ your router to that IP problems can occur if only one in that room did not fix his problems. Everyone in that room can get problems because of him.
In a room with fixed ownership, the owner need to have it fixed, so it's not up to the guys joining.

I don't say it's the reason, all I say is that it might not be just as easy as you fixed your part.

online problems:

Private Lobby:
- continuose people that disconnect from the room
Into private Lobby physics is not the same. Depends on the Host. Yes, I've tryed with my friend (host in his lobby) and with the same track and car we can't set time down 1.36.5xx (supra @Fuji).
My friend disconnected and I was the host. After that he returned to the room and newly we got the practice.
After 2 laps we set 1.35.2xx for the best time (he & I), ONE SECOND different

Public Lobby (free host):
- when you change the track when a guy connect to the room it beging BUGGED, people don't see others and the list of the pole show you first (but is false)
Phisycs is not the same, if you are between some cars physics set you slower, if you are alone you are faster then the "group cars".
I will pray PD to resolve all problems and reduce significantly the different physics beetwen offline and online

Have now gotten a new PS3. But did not get the slim version after all.
But I guess people have problems no matter what PS3 they play on. Would be extremely strange otherwise.

Nothing new with the problems here.
But I might find the lobbies with fixed room ownership to be less likely to have problems.

I also see other people are still posting about problems too. Not always in this thread.
On the first page of GT5 Questions and Answers there were two threads regarding connection errors! 250 and the well known 749 from this thread.

Hope someone from PD sees this and starts working on the more important matters that ruins game experience for so many players.

Last night I tried to join an endurance race we had planned, and it wouldn' let me join with the 749 message. Being that I spent a couple hundred thousand credits and practiced all week, I wasn't going to give up. I restarted my PS3, and when the room had 15/16 people, I turned the wifi on my ipod off (to be safe, it was the only other device taking up bandwidth) and it let me join, without any connecion problems later. Restarting your PS3 works MOST of the time.

If it only was that easy for me to fix. Have tried it xx times..
Does nothing for me.
Been connected directly to modem without anything else on taking bandwith without a hint of improvement.
I never use wifi anyway. Always cable.

I would like to try serious leagues. But really no hope in it due to the problems.

Free online, whatchya gonna do. Doesn't Playstation Plus offer some sort of priority connection type deal?

And my account is spotty too. Sometimes I can have high bandwidth and connect to a server for days. But usually I have a connection thats standard and connects for about an hour or two to any given room with more than 4-5 bars.

ALL THiS-^... Seriously Though PolyPHONY. I'm going out on a limb and trying to run and organize a top-notch racing league, and in two days of preliminary testing, I have ran into nothing but [749]troubles... And people being ghosts on the track for other people. Fail PD, FAiL!!! (btw i am NAT2):scared:

Tried to google the problem again. No solutions to be found for me..
Here are some relatively new posts on other sites that I found in no time.

Just posting to say I have the exact same problems you do :indiff: but unfortunatly I can't help offer a fix as I've not found one yet either, like you I alawys get it with the same people, either can't join their room (get the 749 error why they keep changing the number I dont know cause the problem is still the same) or I join when someone else who is host and then person with the problem connection joins but will have the constant loading stripes.

Like you I've also tryed all the list of things to fix this but to no avial and GT5 is the only game I have this problem which means it cant all be my ends fault just that the way PD's servers work are very pickey on who it lets get good connection.

I tryed opening all the recomended ports from that guide but recently read that I need a static IP for them to take effect and I have a dynamic IP but im no internet guru so maybe they did take effect but just not help at all?.
(According to my dad, who pays for the internet so I have no choice in what he does with it realy, is that the way Virgin Media Internet is designed to work using a dynamic IP and that switching to a static IP would cause more problems in general, not sure if thats true though.)

My ISP is Virgin media, my router is a Netgear model WGT624v3, Nat Type 2, I usualy get between 10mb - 19-mb download speed and between 1mb -2mb upload spead ( it constantly changes when I do the test on my PS3)

Hopefully one day PD will fix all this for us as it seems every single other devolper has been able to have good servers or someone will find a fix that works for everyone that doesnt involve going out spending money changing routers and your ISP as I see that as completely unessasary when its only a GT5 related problem.

That is a real shame Maccer_42.
It really sucks!

Another new thread on online problems named "How often do you have lobby/connect issues?"
https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=235201
Check out the poll with how many people that are frustrated with the online part of the game!

PD, really really thanks for the GT86 car i will recieve before/this Christmas, and the upcoming update. I love that car, and the update looks nice! :)
I may even consider to buy this DLC to contribute. But seriously, fix online issues ASAP!! I wish to enjoy my DLC online without issues!
Some people say PD is listening, they should really listen better and fix fundamental game issues before other less important stuff.

My online experience is very unstable. I also see a lot of the same problems for other people. I also gave up on trying to play with my son as it is practically impossible to carry both our PS3's connection for GT5 at the same time. We can play other games with no problem though.

ERROR 717 FIX!
Its todo with NAT type theres three modes open, moderate, and strict. It needs to be open to join people one way to check your nat type is on call of duty if you have moderate you can join people with open nats and sometimes moderate. If strict you'l be lucky to join anyone. Now the fix.
Find out your routers ip address range then set all 3 of the first numbers to the same as when ur ps3 is on automatic network settings then the fourth to a higher/lower setting depending what your range is. Now on your router firewall settings enter that new ip address and allow all incoming and outgoing traffic from that ip. This should set ur nat to open and that fixes error 717. Its was tryed by me and confirmed by me and freinds that this works. Also i recomend wired connection.

I guess it is the NAT type you are referring to as Open, moderate, and strict is 1,2 and 3.
I am on NAT 2. GT5 rate my connection as high, but it is only 3000/1000. Eiter way, all other games works fine.
My routers adress range is 192.168.10.50-192.168.10.254
I have my PS3 set to a fixed IP in that range. I have also tried to have it under the "50" range, referring to last number here.
I have forwarded ports mentioned in the link below, wich is the same as in the GT5 manual.
http://gaming.stackexchange.com/questions/27459/how-to-fix-network-incompatibility-error-717-on-gt5
My router can not be put into DMZ mode.
I have never seen my PS3 in NAT type 1. Even when i had i directly connected to my router it was type 2.

I have tried with UPnP disabled or enabled. Does not matter. Either way it is not supported.

Result of all this and alot of other tries, no improvement.

According to this thread
http://gaming.stackexchange.com/questions/34860/how-to-fix-error-749-on-gran-turismo-5
A few months ago I posted a question about the "network incompatibility error 717" issue that was plaguing some of our regular racers: How to fix "network incompatibility error 717" on GT5

This was answered (thank you Tom Wijsman) and people who followed the instructions have never had any problems since.

Recently we've had a bunch of new people start up racing and from the second week on they started encountering "error 749" problems (I am not sure the exact wording of the error but I believe it says something about network incompatibility.) I pointed them to the 717 question but the answer given doesn't seem to have fixed things for them.

Is 749 a different problem? How can they fix it?

some people managed to fix 717 errors this way it seems, but not the 749.

I and many others have never seen a hint of improvement no matter what we do. I still urge people to try to fix it, because stuff mentioned in my first post seems to work for some. And if someone know of more stuff I can try, then ill try. But feel like I already have tried everything 3-10 times... Just with small variations.

When I first got my PS3 i had some trouble joining servers in Battlefield 1943, had to try several times. Went on google, forwarded two ports. Problem solved. I don't play that game much anymore, but latest half year I have not had ports forwarded for this game. Seems like the people behind the game made it not necessary or something.
Again, all other games beside GT5 works just fine. Been using hours on hours trying to get GT5 to work.
All threads about online issues really states that there is something with the servers/servertype/netcode that needs to be fixed. I have no not doubt that there is a fix to the problem that PD could do.

Nice thread you got here.

I to have trouble online, but lately it was okay.

Problems I had earlier was: friends not getting in, myself being host getting disconnected, join diff room and after 2 races disconnected, and similar.

Few weeks ago, I started getting more trouble again, and during sending messages I noticed GT-clock and PS3-clock were 1 min wrong.

Next I did reset my PS3-clock, and had far less trouble as before.

3 days ago, again lots of disconnecting, getting stuck between start and race ( black screen with trackmap and moving icons, that was a new one), last in room with loading, ...

Yesterday, I noticed again a diff in the 2 clocks, so again, I did reset my PS3 -clock according to GT5-clock.

Again, I can race every room, no problems at start, ...

Since I never saw this in a thread or reply, thought I might share this lil bit of info.

Might help for you, might not. For me it helps

Cheers

More info to work with.

As I said in previous reply, thers is something with the clock's.

Last couple days I have had hardly any trouble with online issues, untill yesterday.

A friend, who I race allmost daily, tried to join but failed. Plenty of people in room, but only he could not get in.
When entering, 10-50 sec later he got disconnected.
He got error 555.
Other room later in evening, with other people racing, he tried again to join. Again without succes.

I told him to check his clock's.
5 min later he was in room, online racing without trouble.
He thanked me, and said clock's were wrong by more then 1 minute. And that he reset his PS3-clock to the GT5-clock.
We have had multiple sessions together since, yet everythings keeps good

It's a diff code then 717, 749, but it could help.

I have made some "experience" with the issues too.
First months there wasn´t any problem at all (almost no PSN Friends due to my buddies playing on the XBOX).
But after I made some "friends" due to my good racing manners :D I think it got worse.
Many friends, high amount of Cars/Paints/Gear etc. made it laggy and disconnect friendly.
(At least I thought so)
=> I tested a new Account.

Made a few Seasonals to level up and getting a FGT for the FGTC I compete in.
First race with the new Acc was superb.
Only had the Series-Leader as Friend and my main account. But as Time went on I added more friends to the 2nd account too and made up a good garage (70ish).
I have now minor issues again.

I have a 16mbit connection and the PS3 connection test is always perfect me think (Nat2, 12-15mb download and 900kb-1.1mb upload => should provide a good stable connection).
I clear the cache (PS3-Browser and GT but I think it´s the same), clear the cookies and all the other things you can do while beeing at the PS3-Browser.
I´m well prepared but my internet doesn´t like a few people. I or them have to rejoin and I don´t know why. Normally I´m one of the first without the Loading-Bars but still I have to rejoin to see some people.

But know I can race good with my main account again => I´m clueless.

Example: MW2 I always was at ping50-60 regardless of router-reseting etc.

I hope the onlinemode gets a refresh of PD respectively I hope it doesn´t get worse.
Maybe a 3rd account should be created -_-

TSracing have you or anyone else made any progress in finding a solution to this problem? Im still getting it daily but noticed they changed the error code to 755 (originaly 716,717,749) now since 2.02 update but the problem is the same.

I tryed the time sync as mentioned above as I noticed my PS3 clock was faster than GT5 time but that didn't help at all. :( Maybe, just maybe 2.03 update will finally fix this for all of us but I doubt it. :indiff:

It just feels like this is a lost cause now the games gone through several major updates and server maintinace but it seems like Polyphony Digital is unaware so many users are having these issues.

And to make things worse these threads drop off the first page very quickly and considering there's at least 10 seperate threads all talking about the same issue or one very similar to it with none of the threads getting a definate answer.
