belgam, thanks for the clock info! Ill post it in my first post.
If someone said that to me, I would probably laugh. Adjusting the clock makes online function better for some players in GT5?? Seriously, how is that possible?
I think it proves that there is something fundamentally wrong with online part of the game.

My clock were also wrong. Adjusted it.. Unfortunately it did nothing. Atleast not for now. Been very busy in the holidays not not much game time.

Went online again yesterday (after a two week break), and like Maccer_42 already had experienced.
THE 749 error have now changed to 755 for me as well.

Have been reading a little on this forum in the last two weeks, and yeah, new small threads regarding online problems keeps popping out all the time..
If people want to link them to this thread, or post links to all the small ones in this thread, please feel free to do so.

KingSakery, nice to see other people experimenting with stuff too.
My account have 1100+ cars and near 40 friends.. Really do not want to start over. But will do it easily if that would be the "fix". But seriously.. We should not have to have several small accounts...

I've been having this problem since the first update(2.0, I believe)....kicks me off the network into the lobby, telling me that i have been disconnected, then some times it'll say "entry was refused due to network incompatibility with room host" I'm hard-wired, changed to static ip address and port forwarded my ps3 with no luck...sometimes it's o.k. for an hour or two but most times it's not. It also doesn't matter what the bars and stars look like in a room. The issue is not with my internet connection nor with playstation itself, like I said I get kicked to the lobby. I am wondering if it has something to do with a person's NAT type. I'm out of ideas and nobody else seems to have an answer, hopefully this well start happening to more people and get the attention of Polyphony. Right from the drop of the with this game they've dropped the ball for the online networking end of this game.

as an avid gt5 online player, my advice for anyone d/cing like crazy/having incompatible with host error message/experiencing loading stripes...is to create a room and host themselves.

iv played online since release, and everything TS talks about, iv experienced it all. iv done pretty well every fix you mentioned...going hard wired/clearing cache regularly/reset modem/port forward/minimal room settings/disabled mic,etc..

pre spec 2.0(or around there) it would be 50/50 on whether or not id get the host incompatibility message, then when i got into a room, 50/50 on whether or not im going to d/c within a minute. but i could eventually find a room with...whatever, compatible connections? or whatever...to successfully join.

but after 2.0, it seems i flat out, cannot join rooms without getting d/ced. i tried the other day for like a good hour, tried joining approx 30 rooms.

on a strange side note, i host a room quite frequently...and...i have virtually no issues. for whatever reason, it seems like the host gets immunity from everything. iv had people say 'wow XXX is lagging like crazy' and XXX will literally be perfect/100% lag free on my screen.

as long as you have a solid friends list,(my friends list is purely dedicated to gt5 online racers) people will join, and you can get some races in.

iv always had hope that there was some magic fix that would make all the d/c issues go away....but im really stating to think there isnt one. although, not an entire loss of hope, because in the end, i can race. because i host. haha

I think we are on the wrong way .

With some dutch guys we each called sony nl helpdesk and urged them to make separated case nr's and send them to the UK .

Sony NL says the problems are new and they never heard of it .

I advice everyone make a summary of problems u got and call your local Sony Helpdesk that way they get lots of complaints .

We have got an official case nr and they have to reply them if not we call Sony again in a few days and ask them how things are

PS see you online someday senor bloodredsky lol (my cars run on Heiniken)

Host advantage at play. There's no dedicated servers for GT5, everyone connects to the host.

So, say, XXX is able to upload the data to HOST with no issues, HOST then has to ping the information from XXX back to YYY and ZZZ and so as well as do the same for every player and that's where the glitches, lag and problems can come from.

Basically, if you have crap internet, and not just speed, ping as well, stop trying to host games.

Dedicated servers should have been a priority for the game anyway, though.

If that was true my ping and speed are very good we need to start to stop debating here and call our locall sony helpdesks THEY need to resolve the problem !!

Apart from dedicated servers, there's not a lot Sony or PD can do... isn't there an option that gives you optimal settings for online set ups in game? Again, I'd say there's more at play here than just "it must be a sever issue" because the game only uses servers for matchmaking.

You are right and we cannot solve that we need to stop complaining and discussing it and do something !

Togheter with some dutch guys we did call Sony the more complaints they recieve the better !

I just don't think tying up Sony's care line is the way to go about things. People may need genuinely need help and waiting on disgruntled Gran Turismo fans doesn't really make their experience better. Sony, realistically, aren't the people to speak to. You need to get in touch with PD either through letter to their office or via Kaz on Twitter. No reason a game of this calibur should have anything BUT dedicated servers and Sony's helplines are just call centres, they don't really have the ability to influence one thing or the other.

So a fault that is probably affecting thousands of players is not important?
And some peoples "single cases" is more important?

I say, go for the stuff that ruines game experience for a lot of players.
I agree that we should contact PD tough. How do we do that??
I dont use twitter, could we reach PD or Kaz there?

Here is their website:
http://www.polyphony.co.jp/english/index.html
I do not see a way of contacting them, and I have checked on their site before too.. Maybe I should contact Sony instead. That way the issue would have a bigger chance of getting noticed by PD. Im sure they would take it more serius if Sony contacted them about the issues several times.

Anybody here knows a way of getting a message trough to PD?

I'm not saying it's not important, I'm saying it's not the sort of thing those helplines can really deal with. Complaints about specific software need to reach the specific developer not the hardware manufacturer or publisher. I don't know why Gran Turismo is so special that people think tying up helplines is a good way to approach it, people don't for any other game...

Large amounts of letters showing up every day will get the message across rather than individual cases in different Sony helplines across the world.

Tweeting Kaz is the alternative but, again, it needs to be en masse. Tweeting Yoshida, president of Sony Worldwide Studios might help due to direct contact with developers.

Just to bring this thread back to the front page i'll post my latest attempts at trying to fix my connection issues and loading stripe players problem today after getting frustrated with 755 error after 755 error for no reason.

Following the port forwarding guide
(http://portforward.com/english/appli...smo_5index.htm)
Did as it said the ports all open'd sucsessfuly but no improvment in GT5,
still getting the same 755 error code and was still getting loading stripe players.
So port forwarding for me was no sucsess.

Tryed something else, noticed an option in my router to set up a "static route" not sure exactly what this does but was able to set one up and get my my PS3 to connect online threw it.

By doing this it ended up putting my PS3 into a NAT type 3 which I thought would be bad but i'll still try it anyway, get onto GT5 and to my surprise I was able to connect to the room I was getting 755 error code before and not a single player had loading stripe that used to get them.
So that somewhat helped.

Later on tryed to join a different friends room and couldn't connect at all, which was odd as this person was one of the people on my friends list who I didn't have many connection problems with before.
I was getting a message saying "Network Incompatibility with Room Owner" I can't remember if a error code was at the end, will check tomorrow.

So this hasnt fully fixed my problem but its the only progress I made, but I just have a feeling all i've done with this is partialy fix one problem I had with certain users and create a new problem I never had before with users I never had issues with :indiff:

I just wish I could find the source for the problem rather than trying anything and everything and creating new problems for myself.

Would be helpfull if the error code 755 at least had some kind of explaination to what the problem is insted of just leaving me clueless to what it wants me to do to fix it.

(It's good to see the "Online game breaking flaw" thread getting so many responses and people trying to figure out the issue and what causes it, good to see the comunity working together, Just wish this thread could get the same kind of activity to help it get fixed. But it seems our problem is on a much smaller scale than that one.)

Seems that way.. Altough it is very clear that there are many people having online issues..
Id also guess most people with the more serious issues have given up by now..

I have not been online for some time now.. A new update came today.. Any signs of improvement in terms of errors and disconnections?

:banghead::mad:🤬
And often exactly in those races where I manage to get into the lead of a 15 cars race.... plop... youve been disconnected... nice...

I hate this. I was racing in a room with about 10 other guys and managed to get my RX-7 into first place. I kept the lead over the whole race (5 laps), but for some reason, GT5 didn't want to pay out the winnings and I got disconnected about 10 feet from the finish line:banghead::mad:🤬

I was playing online last nite hoping the "improved online performance update" had got rid of the black screen of death problem, no its just as bad as ever! I don't think that problem will ever be fixed.

I feel your pain, have been there and tried everything, clearing cache and everything net related on PS3, everytime I actually managed to get in a lobby there would be at least a couple of users with L/Stripes, if I started my own lobby nobody could get in.....I never had issues with other games or online events or iplayer etc. Basically every tip provided on here and elsewhere had been tried, I too thought it was a fix that Polyphony weren't addressing.
I'm UK based, with a BT Connect router (I'm running wireless though always had a strong signal 95% typ.), I had a spare new one because I had a faulty power pack on my last one, decided I'd try that......and dare I say, I've not had a problem since, got into every lobby I've entered, not one 749, 768 etc message, ** my tip to all those struggling, change your ADSL filter and ask your ISP to send you a new replacement router **, they are usually very obliging if you've been with them a while (both SKY & BT have happily supplied me 2nd units).
I don't normally respond to these fixes, but I love this game, and if it helps others, then great.

i was hosting a room yesterday started the race then race started i was only car that could move all the others were stuck at the loading screen.
took about 5 mins for them to be able to drive
at witch time i was driving backwards through the grid gave them a bit of a surprise when they loaded and saw me coming at them

99% of the rooms I enter either disconnect me within 1 minute, disconnect me on the loading screen, or give me an incompatibility error. My new DFGT is going to be gathering a lot of dust... Hope this week's maintenance fixes it.

Hardwire to, and reset your modem.

hazellnut134
Hardwire? You mean set up a wired connection?
Resetting does help a little.

Yes. Wifi cannot keep up with a hardwired connection. You may not notice a huge difference... until you see everyone else glitching and crashing.

In a game like this that is reliant on time, speed is everything.

Thanks for the help. I'll try to get my dad to sort out a wired connection as soon as possible. Will I still get problems even after I set it up?

+1 If i still would have hair it would be gray by now, trying to get a stable connection with the WIFI signal; tried port forwarding, static ip's, etcetera etcetera, nothing worked.

A ethernet cable for 3 euros solved all my problems.

hazellnut134
It's gonna take a while to get it set up, anything I can do ti help improve stuff?

Avoid using mics, clear your system cache, sync your clock and trophies, disable custom music.

reset both router and modem with no luck also cleared cache with no luck. I noticed that my DST was not set correctly and was an hour behind. fixed that and resynced my trophies, turned off my my BT and tried to join and everything fired right up! I turned my ear piece back on once in the room and that works now too.

Thanks for confirming my theory. Time and trophy syncs seem to please the demon in my PS3.

Ok my dad ordered some stuff, basically you get 2 box things to plug into the mains. A wire from your router plugs into one box. This connects to the other, which has a wire which will connect to the ps3. I think it's called mains Ethernet or something.

The more connections between the ps3 and the modem, the slower your connection is likely to be. Good luck.
