The GT6 Epic Whining and Crying Thread

Looks like it to me. That's a thin line you're walking.... This thread is space set aside for people that want to complain about GT6, not to ridicule what others feel are legitimate grievances. That's called trolling and it won't be well received. Word to the wise - if you wish to be a part of the community, baiting people for no reason other than selfish and puerile gratification is not the right approach.

My intent was humor. I apologize since I have clearly caused offense. It was unintended.

I was simply trying for an "epic whine". I missed the mark clearly.

I have to say this is a very good critique IMO. But like I have said before, there are a good variety of things to look forward to, some games have everything the player wants and after a few months of playing, and completing become useless, furthermore if any sequel is introduced it is usually lacking being simply the same game with different looks.

GT has bugs, that is good, we have something to expect. Though if GT7 on PS4 doesn't drop jaws like the transition from gt3 to gt4, then I will join in with pitch forks and torches. :)

I just want two or three of the things improved and maybe for it to be on PS3 at the same time.

To me, the graphics of GT6 really do look fantastic (apart from the frame rate).
But graphics alone is not what made me a fan of the series

Many key elements that made GT what it is from the start are now missing.

Remember when there was that "GT tokyo geneva concept" thing released that wasn't really part of the GT series?
Well, for me, GT6 is not part of the Gran Turismo series.

A better title would be:

Gran Turismo - BETA - PRE RELEASE - B-GRADE -CONCEPT - MERCEDES VISION GT PROMOTION EDITION. - prologue

My biggest beef with PD right now aside from this game being incomplete is the realism factor. PD says they are trying to make GT6 more realistic. If this were true, we wouldn't have "Premium" and "Standard" cars, the modifications would be available for ALL cars, Nitrous would actually improve lap times, the AI cars would not be "moving brick walls", and the cars could be tuned to the max.
Calling this realism is nothing short of a lie. I have been a "GT loyal" from the beginning and I must voice my displeasure as far as what I see now in the world of Gran Turismo.
Granted, there is supposedly more coming to GT6, but the expectations are definitely high from those of us who are loyal to this empire. PD must pay attention to their fans or risk losing a huge market. Adding a boat is NOT a step in the right direction!
I urge PD to start working on the important details and not feed us all a bunch of nonsensical crap! I don't know about many of you, but I have no intention on buying GT7 if this is what they consider the best they can offer.
Quite honestly, I hope PD does the right thing and proves me wrong. I love Gran Turismo and I sincerely hope to see great improvement over the next year.

Fortunately for us, there are new games coming along, such as ProjectCARS, that while it doesn't yet offer us a huge collection of cars, they offer what Gran Turismo fail to deliver, such as 'realistic' engine sound, 'realistic' car damage, etc. And it's worth remembering that PCARS isn't funded by any major developer.

This + there's many good racing games out there already (I'm having a blast with race pro at the moment which is older than GT5). It's just a matter of broadening your horizons and letting go of this lackluster franchise.

Anybody else noticed how much of a mess the NASCAR Race in Daytona at Night is? Jesus Christ, the shadows are repulsive, the constant flickering could cause epilepsy and the framerate in the replay looks like stop motion.

That makes photography very difficult in this game - the weird shadows.

Is anyone else finding this thread to be soothing? And also quite civil considering the topic...

Since I started posting in GT p again, I've really soured a lot in recent weeks... I come here (this thread), realize that nearly everyone shares the same disappointments, and prevents me from spewing vitriol in other threads...

No one here is more than content with GT, and of those they are casual players. And I am envious of them... I wish I could make up excuses for PD's lack of follow through but my common sense just won't allow it.

You know what everyone else has done instead of complain? Gone back to GT 5... My who friends list who play GT are all in GT 5 now... And many never played GT 5...

Think about that for a second, you skipped GT 5, got GT 6, a fair assumption that it should be better... After a few days/weeks, they are left a bit hollow... So they pick up GT 5 for a few bucks used... Just imagine you never played GT 5, were disappointed with 6, then play GT 5 for the first time... Why would you ever go back to 6? GT 5 had a long tail...

And comparing GT 6 to where GT 5 was at the same point of launch is like trying to make two wrongs right... Games are progressive endeavors, not digressive unless your changing genera or mechanics.

I was looking forward to going back and purging all my complaint threads after an update or 2, but I fear so much time has passed that I can't keep track of them all anymore...

Is it possible that my complaints have outnumbered my constructive posts?

Any other game I would just move on, but GT 6 in its current state can't stay this way, nearly anything that could improve the game is simple low hanging fruit!

You don't need to be a developer to see that, but if you are, then its one big "wtf? Oh, they have to fix that, it's just silly they missed it..."

If the rewards in gt5's career mode were better and the AI was good it would have been even better than the one we have now. In gt6 PD supported casual, average and hardcore gamers because of the endurance races, challenging special events and licenses. It also had more content and lasting appeal as a result. PD seemed to have removed and lessened the qualities that gt5 for reasons unknown and that proves them stupid. Obviously PD have just changed the game to suit only casuals and people who mostly or only care about graphics which is a bad decision because it results in not only the more hardcore gamers disliking the game, but also the casuals because they will get bored of it quicker.

I haven't played gt6 for 2 weeks as a result, I still haven't completed it yet because the desire to play it just died much quicker than it did on gt5 and when I'm driving mood I play Assetto Corsa or even Euro Truck Simulator 2.

Edit: I'm also questioning my past self on spending £35.00 on a preorder for an unfinished game where the developers are to lazy to even copy and paste & adjust features from their previous game. Even though then I wasn't expecting it to be like that.

you all could just ignore him ...

I feel the same way and I'm really beginning to wonder in a serious way, what is going on at PD? When the little patches started flowing and ninja updates I thought it would be a 2 or 3 times a week thing and all the little stuff would get patched. One can't really say they are working on a few specific things like the course creator because only a handful of people would actually work on that aspect of the game. What is everyone doing there? What are the car modellers up to? Where are the new tracks?

I've come to the conclusion in the last week or two that the poor sales figures have them in panic mode and they are focusing most of their efforts on GT7 thinking it will be their saviour. PD being PD will probably draw the erroneous conclusion that GT6 isn't selling well because it's on PS3 and not PS4 and not realize the problems with the series are much, much deeper than that. I have a feeling they will rush out a PS4 version by next Christmas to compete with PCars and Drive Club hoping they don't get pre-empted by them in the process. I think they expected a two year run of 10 million copies of GT6 on PS3 and realize now there's now way they'll even reach half of that.

I believe panic has set in, and GT6 will suffer as a result.

I didn't get GT6 and have stopped paying it attention, but what you say about GT7 is exactly what I think is happening too.

I sure hope that's not the case. I care for the series, as I'm a Playstation fan, and have been playing since the first GT on PSOne. I didn't buy or played GT6 so far, since I find no enjoyment in what they're doing right now. Many games on PC offer me what GT doesn't. Polyphony Digital are making so many wrong decisions, it almost hurt to see what the great
GT series is becoming. Around the year 2000, I remember everyone talking about GT, now everyone around me talks about Forza, showing that something changed.

I really wish that GT7 turns things around for the series, but chances are slim.

I too have been playing since the first in the series and I have a big place in my heart for the series. However I was disappointed with GT5 and the decision not to buy GT6 was a case of voting with my wallet. It is kind of like when two people drift apart. My interests and priorities do not seem to be shared by Kaz and PD, so maybe it's time for me to move on. I hope GT7 changes my mind, but my gut tells me they are interested in making a different game than the one I want to play. Time will tell I guess.

I pray this isn't the case, but you may be right. It would really suck to lose the GT franchise, myself basically growing up on GT, but if it happens they have nothing to blame but themselves. Besides, I don't have a gaming PC yet, just a PS4 waiting for pCARS :P

This brings back fond memories of the GT5 epic crying thread in 2010. I made a humorous post epically crying about the epic crying thread. I received a warning about "abusive comments" which is still on my record these 4 years later.

You must be very cautious about your humor here, for the humor police will come knocking.

At the rate things are going, not much people are going to be there for the course creator when it's finally released. Look around, outside of GTplanet, barely anyone is talking about GT6 anymore.

GT series is on a downhill. And things are about to get really ugly.

Competition is getting worse, and KAZ is not listening to us one bit. No worries though. If GT series and/or KAZ can't Wake up, then someone else will.

For fun I played Ayrton Senna Monaco GP 2 on Sega Genesis/Megadrive the other day, and damn, before the race, you have a qualifying round !

Why isn't it the case in GT5 / GT6 ? Why shall I start last when I'm one of the fastest (not to say the fastest by far, seeing how slow the IA is in the curves) ?

I'd rather start 3rd and battle hard with someone sticking on my tail, than start last and overtaking 2 IA cars in one turn.

PD, please give us a Qualifying lap !!

I want B-Spec more than anything. Frustrating as all hell waiting for something that SHOULD have been there from the BEGINNING.

I do not like the way the gaming industry is headed. It seems they all wish to follow the business model of EA Games, which I have boycotted, and releasing un-finished games and then charging for additional content is my main grievance with EA Games and it seems PD has followed suit. I should have known after GT5, now GT6 is ten times worse in that area.

IMHO, when the last update is released and all promised content is released, it will be worth $60. Until then, I have been robbed, and to add insult to injury, I am, in essence, paying PD to be their beta tester. A little backwards if you ask me.

Tried to email PD and let me tell you, it's no easy task. Had to go to their Japan website and go from there. Got a response surprisingly fast that said they were basically not open to suggestions. After that, I got another email with a survey asking if I would recommend using their site to anyone. I almost crapped my pants from laughing! I laid it on them pretty thick for the fiasco they call Gran Turismo 6, but wouldn't be at all surprised if they ignore that as well.
At this point, they better come up with something pretty impressive or I, like many others, will be saying goodbye to this franchise. I guess we wait and hope they produce a miracle

This. They can't see reality, they can't accept that they are lagging behind the competition.

I'm selling my copy of GT6, by the way...

As it stands right now GT6 is the last GT game I’ll ever play.

I never played GT before GT5P. I was so impressed with GT5P that I preordered GT5 CE as soon as I could, even though it was years late. My disappointment with GT5 matched my awe at GT5P.

And GT6 is everything bad about GT5 minus a lot of the things I liked about it.
GT5 had a few races (mostly boring) but it did have enduros. GT6 gives us more boring races but no enduros.

GT5 had B spec. GT6 “sometime in the future”.

GT5 had a course maker. GT6 “sometime in the future”.

GT5 had big money seasonals. GT6 “sometime in the future”.

What does GT6 give us to replace these missing aspects? Coffee breaks and a moon rover.

PD is not open to suggestions? That could not possibly be more obvious.
