EPIC RANT MODE ENGAGED

First let me start with my feelings - I had these often while playing the game:

"So boring"

"The AI so slow!"

"The AI just totally rammed me again"

"The AI just totally rammed me again and I'm off the track:censored::banghead:🤬:banghead:"

"I am forcing myself to get all the stars - oh gawd.. I choose bore fest championship N.9 - let's get over this quick"

Obviously I get some positive feelings from the game too but let's stay on topic :P

Finished the thing yesterday and because I took much slower cars than AI in 550pp and 600pp championships the AI cars rammed me in the straights 15-20 times :banghead: - so I ended the game "experiencing the AI"

OK - fine you have a faster car in the straight + ULTRA GT STYLE DRAFT allows you to catch up - not complaining about draft either (which is ridiculous) but why oh why if there is space on the right or left they choose to instead bump me ? SO DUMB!

They are really pedantic about car models - but why the same level of professionalism isn't required for all the other aspects of the game ? What is it ? Caropedia ?

"Nope this AI is CLEARLY not good enough - we at PD will work till we get it right!"

Nope - it's terrible and they are fine with it. The guy responsible for AI should be replaced - he did nothing since GT4.

Also sounds - they did almost nothing and simulated few samples to be used for several different cars.

"We are working on it" - imho NO they DO NOT worked on it for SO LONG. You do not "work on it" for YEARS without any form of improvement.

They did almost ZERO work there to cut costs. I simply don't believe them. It does not take SO MUCH time to record a car sound nor to come up with a method you like.

People - we're talking YEARS here not days, not months - FREAKING YEARS!

Ok so let's imagine them "working on sound" - I mean in PD office.

The sound guy had 3 freaking years after GT5 was out. So after the game is out he does what for 3 years ?

Wake up, go to office think about engine sound - rinse and repeat for 3 years straight ? You want to tell me that this person or group of persons did exactly that for 3 or more years without ANY real progression ?

No - they simply DECIDED to not spend money there. Same for AI and "making it accessible" - NO it's just easier and less expensive to NOT WORK on those aspects.

Career reeks of being putted together in a hurry and it don't uses all GT6 assets!!! Show me another game that does that!!! Its unbelievable!!

I mean

Nascar - no dedicated championship - just usual drive here and there, done. Extra perk - dumb AI makes it infuriating.

Rally - many rally cars but no dedicated championship - make it like a WRC game!! No point to point! Extra perk - can't see 🤬 because of AI cars rising dust in front of you - again brilliant idea. 👍

Formula GT - never used in the game - what we are suppose to do with that car? Ah...time trials..

No qualify, no practice no standing starts - because "let's party like it's 1999"

GT6 is not even robust online - as of today and probably forever it is a time trial game with lots of tracks and cars.

Did anyone at PD even played the 🤬 game AT ALL ??? Next time there is an interview I want the sound guy, the AI guy and the game-play guy to be publicly FIRED!!!!

Come to think of it and seeing as we don't see ANY CHANGES AT ALL in some parts of the game I think those people are there from the GT1 and Kaz is too soft to let them go - could be the case.

In the end - the most frustrating part is that GT6 could be so incredible with proper AI, engine sounds and modern career mode that feels more like racing.

Such a shame.

Zero hope for GT7. I think the issues will be carried over - they simply see GT like that - "lots of cars, lots of tracks - we're done here"

Some people think - oh well GT6 is 🤬🤬 but GT7 will be surely the 8th wonder of the world.

It wont.

The flickering really does hurt it. A couple of anti-aliasing filters thrown over the top and it'd be truly stunning. I think GT6 kinda needed the extra processing boost the PS4 would've given it.

I'm glad somebody made this thread. Although GT6 obviously has strong points, it has plenty of weak ones (some of these more likely than not have already been pointed out).
-Almost none of the amazing Original tracks from GT1-4. Especially rally tracks, the only reason I, personally, got into playing this game.
-The transmissions of the car need to learn to shut-up. I drove the Audi R8 LMP car and, even though my volume was on 10/100, It was so loud that I couldn't even hear my parents yelling at me for having the game on so loud. Mind you, this is just the transmission, not the actual car.
-The sound engine glitches often. I bought a Mazda 787B, which has had an orgasm inducing sound since GT3, and it's amazing rumble was completely gone the first time I drove it. I'm glad I contained my rage and just restarted it to see it was a glitch. It happens with other cars too, but this one definitely stuck out in my mind.
-So many premium FWD Compact Economy cars. Who the hell starts up a racing game thinking "I can't wait to drive a Toyota Prius. This will be so fast-paced, exhilarating, and fun." Not even as starter cars are these useful. Meanwhile, there are no premium Toyota MR2's and Supras, Original Nissan Skylines and R33 Skylines, Rufs, and other legendary or atleast fairly famous sports cars and even a couple of race/rally cars that have made atleast some kind of an impact on racing history.
-Aero kits do almost nothing, except flat floors and rear wings that give you **** for downforce.
-The rubber-banding in Enduros is ridiculous. I did a 10 lap race. I wasn't in first for the first half, and my rear tires went down to 6 before I pitted at then end of Lap 5. I got into first on Lap 8, and then my jaw dropped as my rear tires went from 7 straight down to 0 in one miraculous lap, despite me not spinning my wheels at all. I had a half minute lead, and it dropped down to negative one lap by the end of the race as I couldn't even go above 50 mph without my car losing control. I had to drive an LMP car into this event just to win with a three second gap. Come on PD, if you can't make AI that will RACE then don't try to over-compensate.
-Speaking of enduros, these are pathetic. Granted, GT5 had way too long endurance races, but come on, the most "intense" event in the game is 24 minutes long?
-The abundance of the same car appearing over and over again in a dealership. An updated model is okay, but having 20 different versions of the same car just to give off different colors is sloppy and makes it obvious PD is just trying to boost their number of cars.
-Even worse than the point above is when there are cars that have one premium version, with ~5 standard versions. That is just so sloppy and lazy. Why even bother to include it if there is a better modeled version in the game already? Oh yeah, that's right, you gotta have 1200 cars somehow. Except that I would rather just have 600 cars that are all premium and not have to cycle through endless copies.
-Why can we only earn cars for entire leagues instead of just a series of races? I would rather have that happen and have this game feel like the GTs with good career modes than get a log-in bonus.
-The menu isn't bad, but often times the cursor goes in the wrong direction for me.
-On Route X you can see a different route with more turns rather than 20 miles of straights. Why not have this one instead? Is it too arcade-y? Then why is there a track with Hot Wheels styled Loop-de-Loops? Did you decide 15 miles of straights wasn't enough to determine your top speed? What other tracks have 5 minutes worth of straights that would make the current Route X remotely useful?
-Why is Increasing Body Rigidity not just in the parts section like in GT4?
-Actually, speaking of GT4, why is this career mode so much smaller than the GT4 one that kept me entertained for weeks and weeks on end?
-Have you forgotten the FGT? It is in here, but can't be used for any career mode events and hasn't even a special event of its own. This makes me sad, just like the lack of rally courses.
-The photomode is horrendous. Only 5 locations? Really? 2 of which are probably mostly the same? GT4, the first game of yours with photomode, had ~15-20 places to choose, all of which looked stunning.
-Why count reverse versions of a track as an entirely different track? Just let us select Foward or Reverse. Same for time and weather changeability.
Overall, it isn't a bad driving simulator, but it is a terribly frustrating driving game.

Think you are being a bit hyper critical there mate, I think it looks awesome, the lighting is gorgeous.

I never said the lighting wasn't gorgeous. I said the shadows were dodgy. That's not hyper critical, it's the truth. Most of the track looks amazing, but there's a few standout bits that are less than OK. Shadows are one, I've had problems with the track surface occasionally not being rendered in time, and there can be issues with pop-in at high speeds.

Nothing completely deadly, and the track looks undeniably spectacular in still shots. But in motion, I don't find it to be particularly any more spectacular than any number of other tracks with minor issues.

Never really seen these 'dodgy-shadows'. What do they do that's bad?

I'm going to put this in white text below, and you can highlight it if you want to read. It's a "once seen cannot be unseen" thing, and knowing isn't really going to make your experience on the track any more fun.

In the middle distance, the shadows are greatly simplified to the point that they become squarish blobs. As you approach they wobble and morph until the turn into something like a real shadow.

I find the blobs in the distance to be a minor distraction, and the shimmer as they change into real shadows more so. It's just too obvious a performance hack for me.

Hopefully the Honda NSX race cars handle better within the next few updates. I loved driving all of them in GT5, they were my tools of war for online racing. However, in GT6 they aren't as fun to drive. They lose control way more easily, even if you turn aids on.
I also loathe the stockyard with every last ounce of my being. Why couldn't we have just gotten a normal garage that held as much cars as we wanted?

the more cars I accumulate, currently about 170, the more I dislike the "excel" style car listing in the garage.

For me it is too text heavy and it´s difficult for me to recognize the cars from the tiny thumbnail depiction in lateral view. In this particular part of the game, car presentation, which IMHO is a central component of GT, is unloving.

Along the same lines I am missing B spec because it offered a nice opportunity to appreciate the beauty of the cars on track while earning the money to purchase them later on.

I have to say this is a very good critique IMO. But like I have said before, there are a good variety of things to look forward to, some games have everything the player wants and after a few months of playing, and completing become useless, furthermore if any sequel is introduced it is usually lacking being simply the same game with different looks.

GT has bugs, that is good, we have something to expect. Though if GT7 on PS4 doesn't drop jaws like the transition from gt3 to gt4, then I will join in with pitch forks and torches. :)

GT 5.5? I hope not.

Lets face facts. PS3 is an obselete piece of kit.
1 3.2GHZ Power 5 CPU and 6SPUs that are non independent. All instructions are fed through the Power 5 core.
It has a crap (by2013s standard) GPU, an Nvidia 7800GTX GPU and split memory pools of 256MB XDR@3.2ghz and 256MB DDR3.

Its a mess, YET, Guerilla Games, makers of Killzone series ported their PS3 engine unto PS4. They had a press conferance today detailing it.

The PS4 has 8 Cores, each between 1.6GHz and 2GHz.
8GB GDDR5 ram at 176gb/s
and a HD7850 GPU.

What they did was basically emulate the PS3 instruction set on PS4 by having 6SPUs emulate by the 6CPU cores on PS4 to distribute the CPU loads. They used the remaining two PS4 CPU's to emulate the POWER PC Core, and then ofloaded the rest to the GPU.

SO, why didnt PD announce GT6 being cross-gen if its that simple to do????
The PS4 Graphics Card is literally 10× the power of PS3s AND, there is a unified pool of memory.
I am disappointed. I really am.

First GT I may skip......... :(

its a bit rough to bag a piece of kit that was developed years ago and is still capable at many levels and try to compare it to Latest Tech, and i think you will find its NOT That Simple To Port across and for-seriously who cares if the graphics is 10x awesome-er, we want a working game not a pretty picture that breaks all the time.
actually i think they have squeezed a lot out of the PS3 and it just shows how capable the hardware is. my PC still has a HD4870-512Mb ram and it works fine for most FPS thats older than 12 months old, lets face it, nothing in the last 12 months has been woth wasting money on.
im glad i could get at least 3 games outta the PS3 (GT5+6 and WipeOutHD) and was not forced into paying for a new PS4($500-600) as well, certainly glad now that i know how dissappointing the game is.

Why is it that AI cars always want to hit me, but then when I need them to push my i-MIEV up the hill at Matterhorn Dristelen they back off? C'mon, help a guy out!

I've got a new one to add - supposedly "500pp" races that have cars blatantly over that limit that get stupid ten second leads on the first lap. Even when you enter cars of exactly 500 it's only just possible and even then you have to pass the lead car at EXACTLY the right time to win.

And to the guy bitching about economy cars being in the game. Perhaps Burnout is more your scene.

Hi!

Iam sure theres got to be many posts with the same ideas and complaints that i have, but i really dont have the stamina to read through the whole forum so here i go:

1: I want the opportunity to build an online career individually and with a team.
I think the online mode is like gt5 minus the fun shuffles... An example of a game with pretty fun online races was project gotham racing 2 and 3 (I think). Get it done PD how hard can it be?
I want the oppurtunity in game to find racing equals and not have to go to the internet and find a (great) forum like this to find good clean and evenly matched races. Again how hard can it be?
Frustrating to go in and out of rooms with demolition derbys trying to find "your people".

2: Offline is a joke. Way to easy and you can hardly call it racing at all. I want to be put to the test offline and online. Not TO hard but so hard that a podium finish actually feels good. I realize that not everone is as nerdy or should i say dedicated but can it really be so hard for the ai to adjust to the players skill? I mean softwarewise iam no expert but its 2014 and the 6:th game in the series. I know you could make it more interesting by lowering your cars pp and racing with worse tires and so on but i dont think thats the way most of us want it. I wanna battle for it all the way, make it happen pd or iam out of here.

3: Dont spend hours developing and or programming cars that none of us wants to drive like the prius for example. I want the game to be about racing and hence racing cars.

4: Brake up with red bull...

Over and out from Sweden

A couple of months ago, my folks announced over dinner that they were buying me a car, and my dad pulled out his check/cheque book and started writing. Wow!!! I was thinking "Lamborghini?", or "Ferrari?". Maybe both!

Then I saw the amount he had written, so I started whining.

It gets worse. They told me the only car I was allowed to buy was a Honda Fit! A Honda Fit?? WTF? All my friends would laugh at me. So I whined some more.

When I realized it was going to take some actual hard track work to earn credits to pay for better cars, I whined again because it would take too long. But I quickly realized I didn't like the career mode since it is too short, so I whined about that too. Often in the same sentence.

Anyway, it's been two months now and I still haven't earned enough credits to buy all the 20,000,000 credit cars in the world. WTF??? As I told my parents, I'm two months older and I'm entitled to everything, don't you agree? I didn't get into GT6 to enjoy the pleasure of driving. I call that "grinding" because it is such a chore. But I do like whining about grinding. That's fun.

My parents won't give me money for microtransactions, so that's another reason to whine.

And I'm sick of these patches coming at me thick and fast adding stuff that should have been in the game to start with. What was this "Kaz" guy thinking? Doesn't he know I'm entitled to have everything immediately? I think he's been talking too much with my mean parents who just don't understand. Kaz gets to go everywhere he wants and drive any car he wants to. Well, I'm a better gamer and driver than he is, so I should be treated better than him. After all, I know more about what should be in GT6 than he does (obviously, duh!), and I know just how easy it is program stuff into video games, so I'm entitled to whine about Kaz. And PD.

There's a lot more I could whine about, but I see that there are a lot of fellow whiners in these forums so you can read what they whine about while I think up more complaints.

And finally, I want to complain about the Guinness Book of Records. I expected to be listed under "Winners", but they only recognized me under "Whiners".

Way to mock people who have legitimate complaints.

Me? Mock? Unlikely. :D

I especially love this attitude. Buy a $70 game, drop $250 on a wheel, a $G on big screen, several $G's on a sound system, spend a few hours building my own rig so I can...wait for it...WORK to earn credits. Absolute genius there.

I play the game to get away from anything that even remotely resembles work. Silly me, I thought that was the purpose of PLAYING a GAME.

Fail. You were shooting for irony, but 1/3rd into your story you transition from game world to real world and kill it all.

For the many people that misuse the term trolling, I do believe this is what it looks like.

Me? Mock? Unlikely. :D
Looks like it to me. That's a thin line you're walking.... This thread is space set aside for people that want to complain about GT6, not to ridicule what others feel are legitimate grievances. That's called trolling and it won't be well received. Word to the wise - if you wish to be a part of the community, baiting people for no reason other than selfish and puerile gratification is not the right approach.
