GT is a game not a driving simulator... :sly:
IMO, it is somewhere in between right. Definitely no arcade game, when you go racing against each other, time trials, GTA competition, etc.

The physics engine is solid, camber values aside. You can't replicate a slew of specific tires or cars. Some cars are done very well. For sure. The tires can make things unrealistic as does surface and air friction. Unrealistic in terms of speed at times, drag and grip? Sure. Also, brake temps. But, in terms of physics and how the car reacts to the road and it's own movements/suspension...pretty damn good and I've used sims, but more importantly, real life.

Like I said, somewhere in between right now and is no arcade game. The single player is easy as the AI sucks and is slow...but the physics engine is no different. It becomes a little better with each title and update. Just a game outside of single player mode to gather credits is a little much, but to each his own.

I've been racing 125s for fifteen years and have been building old BMW racer for the last ten. A lot of people who make the claim that it is far from a simulator are basing it off of other simulators. Most haven't raced balls to the walls in real life. And many are just regurgitating what other people say, because they are cynical when it comes to PD. They'll have played a simulator, without driving the actual car and then drive the same car in GT6 - somehow they're certain GT6 is far from a simulator, without having driven the car in real life. Doesn't make sense. It's all digital. All of the tuning and modelling is digital, in every sim. 3 degrees of camber in any sim will not feel like three degrees in real life, .01 toe won't feel like it, etc., unless it is a single car, multimillion dollar simulator. iRacing and AC are not spot on either. GT6 is indeed playing catch-up, but the whole game is not ****. There are some car that are well simulated, if you're not trying to turn it into a vacuum with 0 camber. Given the physics engine, to some extent, you get out of GT6 what you put in with the cars that are well modelled. Again, camber aside. People bitch about camber, but it seems to affect balance somewhat to me, still. No doubt it needs to be patched, though.

Step by step.

Its been almost 3 weeks since the Q&A has gone up, and still no answers.

Its kind of obvious what the biggest questions are, they're the same concerns GT fans have had for years now.

I appreciate Kaz is going to answer them, but 3 weeks and not one has been answered?

Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi will be reviewing questions posted in this forum and answering a selection of the most popular (as determined by votes/"Likes") over the next few weeks.

^ I'm just wondering how vague his answers will be this time around.
Maybe, but the fact that Kaz is stepping into the GTP zone is unprecedented. Let's at least give him the opportunity to respond before we evaluate the worthiness of his responses. I see this as a point of no return. If Kaz is forthcoming and more specific and gives us some real insight, we could reasonably say things are afoot at PD and changes may be on the horizon. If we get the usual vague and non-committal answers I think we can pretty much assume this was just to appease the rabid fanbase with no real substance and that's just the way it's always going to be. I am hoping for the former and will continue to remain positive until I'm proven wrong.

I'm still waiting for APEX 2 or whatever its name was. Do you guys remember that? It was supposed to come nicely printed with your 15 anniversary limited edition they then cancelled it and said it would come available via download (pdf format?) and nothing still...

Wonderful, somewhere I can cry!

I do not like the game all that much.

I loved GT 5. I in particular loved the endurance races, searching for that minimum of PP enabling me to beat the AI and the others looking for that elusive car with a low PP. It was great fun.
I am not a good driver, still I discovered a niche. And I restarted my GT 5 career many times, simply for the fun of climbing up the ladder, but avoiding things like special events and licences.
But GT 6 changed all this. It kept the bad things and made them mandatory, and has yet to introduce the good things. No endurance races, and climbing the career ladder depends on the licences. The early ones weren't too bad, but the later ones, and the special events ....they are too difficult for me. I see absolutely NO fun in restarting a short race of 50 seconds or so, only to realize that at the Xth attempt I am 5 seconds short of Silver or even Bronze, and that it will be a long time before I am even remotely close to Gold. I have not the hands, the skills nor the patience.
Oh, I like the graphics and the physics engine etc, and now and then I do a Nürburgring or Le Mans arcade race, pretending it is the real thing. Still ...it isn't, not quite.

Holy crap dat Maser.

Meanwhile, Forza 5 have just announced the Nurburgring in all of it's layouts in a free update along with some (not free) cars.
1989 AUDI 90 Quattro IMSA GTO
1967 Brabham BT24
2013 Ford Formula EcoBoost
1956 Lotus Eleven
1939 Maserati 8CTF

As a whole the Microsoft conference was quite lackluster. However, the Nurbugrgring announcement was fantastic.

People in the GT series always say the tracks, cars, physics, sounds, etc. are the most accurate of them all and their games are "the real driving simulator", but we know they are not when compared to PC sims and to other console games. One of the biggest differences is in tracks, as in even in GT6 there's not a single laser scanned circuit, meaning all of them are inaccurate including the ones that come from GT4 (Laguna Seca, Motegi), GT5 (Suzuka) and from GT6 too (Silverstone. Available since GT6's demo which was GT Academy 2013). This means the layout, bumps (or lack of) and other aspects are not the same as driving them in real life, which inspires less confidence about that one is really driving the real thing*.

With that said, the Nordschleife is pretty much PD's and this community's proudest piece of content in GT5 and in GT6; however it is not 100% accurate despite whatever PD or anyone in this forum might say. As of today Forza5 has the only accurate representation of the Nordschleife and of the Nurburgring circuit across all racing games/sims, plus the most beautiful. This means the GT series was surpassed once again, and now it hurts.

The following video shows the differences are quite dramatic. Also notice the confidence of the developers and the indirect reference to the GT series, now that they surpassed it on its best asset.

About those cars there's nothing else to be added really. All of them are fantastic additions to the game and to the genre as a whole; stuff of dreams*.

And Horizon 2 is pretty much a low blow to Drive Club. What I like about Turn 10 is that they just deliver; no excuses no delays. If only their games were cross-platform or on the PC :P

The only exception that's unknown (afaik) is Bathurst in GT6, the last real life track circuit made for the game as of this post, which at least looks laser scanned to me so it might be a leap in quality from now on, which is from GT6's DLC (none thus far), GT7 and so on.

Since this is the 'epic whining thread', it has to be said that GT6 or whichever PD product is not the only thing out there. If you dislike GT6 or want to try content, better physics and whatnot that isn't on GT6 then you do have the choice to play other stuff, or to have those other games as your side racing game or main (iRacing as primary GT6 as secondary, or viceversa or drop GT6 entirely).
I'm not expelling people here or anything, just saying that you can benefit from the current variety of racing games/sims and that if you dislike GT6 you are not forced to wait for GT6 to improve.
In other words and more concretely, I'll not wait for the 1939's Maserati to come to GT6, because lets face it most probably it never will be here, but try on Forza 5 because I and anyone can. Want to have realistic driving Formula 1 cars and drive them in a league in GT but are bored of waiting for both features? Try iRacing. Things are already out there for you to try, and no you won't be "betraying GT" or be less of a fan if you try other stuff.

I am a huge GT fan, but I am really jelly of the Audi 90 IMSA.

I don't have Forza so I have to wait for someone like Gamersyde to upload some high def replays, but just from the Youtube video, I have to admit the Nurb looks fantastic in Forza. If anyone hasn't seen the new Long Beach track, go to Gamersyde and find the HD videos of that track and download them, it also looks fantastic.

And this is almost enough to make me take a look at going to XBone instead of PS4 for my next gen console:eek::eek::eek::

Ok, so I have been playing GT6 from day one and I have had the game freeze under stress. Usually after a long championship or extended playing (I have a 2nd/3rd gen fat PS3, this may come in handy later). When the recent Senna Update came I had to delete the GT5 Prologue game entirely to download the update. After dealing with that I went in and did the first Senna event. After that I did the second event. Once I got Gold on that event I moved onto the first of the Lotus events. Once I managed to get the car around the track corner-by-corner I manged gold. So I went to exit the event to change my uniform and the game FREEZES! So when I rebooted the data and made sure everything was there I put GT6 back in and it tells me my data is corrupted. It took me awhile to work up the guts to say "no" to reload the game. After deleting the data it made me restart from when I completed the first of the Senna events.

I came back on today because I was already too ticked off to continue on yesterday. So I logged on and when I went to change my uniform and the game freezes when I exit that menu. WTF!! I love GT6, this game could be good if they had put the dang thing on the PS4. I know that they want two games per-console, but why couldn't they make an exception. Now the game is unplayable for me and there is no point of getting a more recent PS3 to play it. I don't have that kind of money. Now I have a vacant G27 in my basement collecting dust until Drive Club and/or Project CARS comes out.

If anyone has some miracle solution to this, please help.

I agree, GT's looks too clean. On the other hand, in Forza, you can see all the track's imperfections.

Which is a part of laser scanning, including bumps, elevations, that tracks are not perfectly flat across all their width, etc. With that method, with such precision tracks become alive and the Nordschleife in particular the roller coaster that it is in real life.

I listed the other reason but I'll say it again: it's completely different to 'drive' a track in a game knowing for sure that it's exactly like the real thing. That feeling is crossing the wall between game and simulator.
That barrier has not been passed yet by the GT series, as of this post (except maybe Bathurst and only Bathurst. Still I don't know if it was laser scanned or not, official info. Even Silverstone is clearly imprecise, can tell by the naked eye).

Oh and again I'll say these posts are not mean to criticize the GT series or anything. Just saying that for us players it's a good thing to embrace all sims/games and that for us players it's also positive that Forza5 is improving. Extreme brand loyalty leads to not enjoying the best products, or have access to what you want.
Right now the considerably best version of the Nordschelife is in Forza5. The usual approach here in GTP would be to blame PD and whatnot, but I prefer to try to get access to that version somehow, for example by playing at a friend's house. If you want more content or are dissatisfied with GT6 then instead of blaming PD what you should do is to try other stuff that deliver it, today. You all will be happier.
Lets put ourselves in the 'opposite side': Forza fans shouldn't complain to Turn 10 because there's Goodwod and this much Senna content in GT6. What they should do is play the things they want to play about GT6 (Goodwood, Senna, some 'exclusive' cars) and then play whatever game they prefer. Same goes for if you want to try good rally racing then GT6 is not what you look for, or for racing in the current F1 seasons with all the grid and tracks, etc.

So, Forza gets a massive "new" track and 5 awesome cars, whilst we get* some crappy looking Nissan that doesn't even exist. Great job PD. Great :censored:ing job.

*And we still have to wait a few days for it as well...

It's a complete deja vu of what i experienced when i was waiting patiently on GT5 and saw all those great rides being released for FM4 in the meantime... nothing has changed in that regard even though a 'quantum leap' was promised.

I don't need to have the car to know it looks crappy and doesn't exist.

EDIT: Yep, its the same old tosh :ill:

Road America, Long Beach and 13,000 man hours on a laser scanned Nurburgring Nordschleife...that's what I call a Quantum Leap...oh wait..wrong game..

I love how easily Turn 10 taken down PD's dull and lifeless Nurburgring with their "new laser scanned" Nurburgring that feels more alive, colourful, beautiful and... ALIVE.

Not a opinion, but should be considered a fact because if many have seen it, they'll know excatly what I mean, if they haven't already.

I just finished watching the Gamersye 1080P direct download...it looks fantastic. The lighting is superb, they've really got daylight looking like daylight. The detail is just superb, from the mist off in the distance to the trees, to every subtle little mark, nuance, weed, plant, shrub, guardrail, curb etc. etc. etc. Absolutely brilliant. Don't know what PD can do to counter that except go out and laser scan it themselves. Their Nurburgring was top notch for a while, now it really looks like last gen in comparison. To be expected on the PS3, but won't be acceptable on the PS4, not in my books anyway.

Knowing PD, since Kaz, APPEARENTLY, is too arrogant to pay any attention to the competition, they'll probably just take the lazy route and port over their last gen Nurburgring over to the PS4. What a joke they'll be if they did that, but you never know with PD.

Dont get me wrong, the flaws in this game kill it for me, But I have driven the Nordscheife in real life, and I can quite confidently say that PDs representation of it is second to none at this stage.

The Forza 5 'Ring' certainly looks to surpass that though. It looks AMAZING!!! DAMN YOU XBox one!! Why must you tempt me so much!!!
