One thing for sure, it's not a Racing Simulator!GT is a game not a driving simulator...
IMO, it is somewhere in between right. Definitely no arcade game, when you go racing against each other, time trials, GTA competition, etc.GT is a game not a driving simulator...
Its been almost 3 weeks since the Q&A has gone up, and still no answers.
Its kind of obvious what the biggest questions are, they're the same concerns GT fans have had for years now.
I appreciate Kaz is going to answer them, but 3 weeks and not one has been answered?
Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi will be reviewing questions posted in this forum and answering a selection of the most popular (as determined by votes/"Likes") over the next few weeks.
Maybe, but the fact that Kaz is stepping into the GTP zone is unprecedented. Let's at least give him the opportunity to respond before we evaluate the worthiness of his responses. I see this as a point of no return. If Kaz is forthcoming and more specific and gives us some real insight, we could reasonably say things are afoot at PD and changes may be on the horizon. If we get the usual vague and non-committal answers I think we can pretty much assume this was just to appease the rabid fanbase with no real substance and that's just the way it's always going to be. I am hoping for the former and will continue to remain positive until I'm proven wrong.^ I'm just wondering how vague his answers will be this time around.
You know as much as we do...What happened to that new long track in Spain everyone was raving about a few months ago? Did I miss something?
*Mind blown* Oh yeah, soon to hear dat engine sound!Holy crap dat Maser.
Meanwhile, Forza 5 have just announced the Nurburgring in all of it's layouts in a free update along with some (not free) cars.

I don't have Forza so I have to wait for someone like Gamersyde to upload some high def replays, but just from the Youtube video, I have to admit the Nurb looks fantastic in Forza. If anyone hasn't seen the new Long Beach track, go to Gamersyde and find the HD videos of that track and download them, it also looks fantastic. As a whole the Microsoft conference was quite lackluster. However, the Nurbugrgring announcement was fantastic.
People in the GT series always say the tracks, cars, physics, sounds, etc. are the most accurate of them all and their games are "the real driving simulator", but we know they are not when compared to PC sims and to other console games. One of the biggest differences is in tracks, as in even in GT6 there's not a single laser scanned circuit, meaning all of them are inaccurate including the ones that come from GT4 (Laguna Seca, Motegi), GT5 (Suzuka) and from GT6 too (Silverstone. Available since GT6's demo which was GT Academy 2013). This means the layout, bumps (or lack of) and other aspects are not the same as driving them in real life, which inspires less confidence about that one is really driving the real thing. The only exception that's unknown (afaik) is Bathurst in GT6, the last real life track circuit made for the game as of this post, which at least looks laser scanned to me so it might be a leap in quality from now on, which is from GT6's DLC (none thus far), GT7 and so on.
With that said, the Nordschleife is pretty much PD's and this community's proudest piece of content in GT5 and in GT6; however it is not 100% accurate despite whatever PD or anyone in this forum might say. As of today Forza5 has the only accurate representation of the Nordschleife and of the Nurburgring circuit across all racing games/sims, plus the most beautiful. This means the GT series was surpassed once again, and now it hurts.
The following video shows the differences are quite dramatic. Also notice the confidence of the developers and the indirect reference to the GT series, now that they surpassed it on its best asset.
About those cars there's nothing else to be added really. All of them are fantastic additions to the game and to the genre as a whole; stuff of dreams*.
And Horizon 2 is pretty much a low blow to Drive Club. What I like about Turn 10 is that they just deliver; no excuses no delays. If only their games were cross-platform or on the PC

Since this is the 'epic whining thread', it has to be said that GT6 or whichever PD product is not the only thing out there. If you dislike GT6 or want to try content, better physics and whatnot that isn't on GT6 then you do have the choice to play other stuff, or to have those other games as your side racing game or main (iRacing as primary GT6 as secondary, or viceversa or drop GT6 entirely).
I'm not expelling people here or anything, just saying that you can benefit from the current variety of racing games/sims and that if you dislike GT6 you are not forced to wait for GT6 to improve.
In other words and more concretely, I'll not wait for the 1939's Maserati to come to GT6, because lets face it most probably it never will be here, but try on Forza 5 because I and anyone can. Want to have realistic driving Formula 1 cars and drive them in a league in GT but are bored of waiting for both features? Try iRacing. Things are already out there for you to try, and no you won't be "betraying GT" or be less of a fan if you try other stuff.
I love how Forza 5's version of Nurburgring feels more life-like and not as blend like GT5/GT6's Nurburgring. I'll take Forza 5's side because of that.
I agree, GT's looks too clean. On the other hand, in Forza, you can see all the track's imperfections.
So, Forza gets a massive "new" track and 5 awesome cars, whilst we get* some crappy looking Nissan that doesn't even exist. Great job PD. Great :censored:ing job.
*And we still have to wait a few days for it as well...
Road America, Long Beach and 13,000 man hours on a laser scanned Nurburgring Nordschleife...that's what I call a Quantum Leap...oh wait..wrong game..
It's a complete deja vu of what i experienced when i was waiting patiently on GT5 and saw all those great rides being released for FM4 in the meantime... nothing has changed in that regard even though a 'quantum leap' was promised.
I just finished watching the Gamersye 1080P direct download...it looks fantastic. The lighting is superb, they've really got daylight looking like daylight. The detail is just superb, from the mist off in the distance to the trees, to every subtle little mark, nuance, weed, plant, shrub, guardrail, curb etc. etc. etc. Absolutely brilliant. Don't know what PD can do to counter that except go out and laser scan it themselves. Their Nurburgring was top notch for a while, now it really looks like last gen in comparison. To be expected on the PS3, but won't be acceptable on the PS4, not in my books anyway.I love how easily Turn 10 taken down PD's dull and lifeless Nurburgring with their "new laser scanned" Nurburgring that feels more alive, colourful, beautiful and... ALIVE.
Not a opinion, but should be considered a fact because if many have seen it, they'll know excatly what I mean, if they haven't already.
Knowing PD, since Kaz, APPEARENTLY, is too arrogant to pay any attention to the competition, they'll probably just take the lazy route and port over their last gen Nurburgring over to the PS4. What a joke they'll be if they did that, but you never know with PD.I just finished watching the Gamersye 1080P direct download...it looks fantastic.
