That's why I don't even bother going in US or a few UK lobbies. They are so disorganized and are full of kids. JP and AUS/NZ lobbies are so much better.

I don't mean to be rude or racist, but US lobbies just suck in general. The other day I got kicked out of a US drift lobby for no reason.

id join a AUS/NZ lobbies but they only allow AUS/NZ gamers. I get kicked every time i join for being a Brit and 100% agree on US lobbies. Full of mouthy kids.

Trying to find good clean lobbies can be difficulty.
I run clean & realistic club races every Friday night, having heavy damage & strong penalties enabled is a great way to discourage people from crashing into each other.

to stop myself from Epically Whining and Crying, I have just resorted to grinding the 🤬 out of the latest 600PP (That Toyota TS030 is just wonders on that event), so that if the fix does arrive (take note: "IF", not "when"), I'd have a crapload of money to spend with and then buy and tune whatever car I fancy.

I just had this thought and i didn't want to make a thread out of it, so i figure this is the right place to post:

Has GT become a children's racing game?:

Think about it; offline is easy and the bots let you win, there is a major focus on fantasy cars, racing rules/conditions are low on PD's priority list, endurance races scaled down, no focus on improving car models/sounds so they can keep the matchbox like car count alive...
Well, Kaz did talk about ''Gran Turismo for Boys'' prior to GT5's release. Although GT PSP is said to be a rendition of that vision, I think they've 'unintentionally' turned the latest main entry into one by further dumbing it down.

For an adult male that grew up with motorsports, i suppose you can't really say that the way the franchise is heading is very appealing anymore. GT used to be the closest you could get for a realistic racing experience on consoles, and also one of the first games to introduce a wide selection of real life cars, but in recent years the realism/ appeal has been greatly diminished due to their awkward design decisions, and that original 'realism' formula was scaled down and altered in a bad way to the more childish formula we have today.
I've personally come to the conclusion that I've gradually out-grown the series. While I've been wanting a more realistic racing experience (such as the one offered by pCARS, perhaps even G:AS), GT has pretty much stuck to the same old formula and somehow managing to make it worse in the process. Maybe GT7 will turn things around, however I very much doubt that. I would love to be proven wrong though.

As for GT6, I haven't touched it since - let see - last Novemeber and in June before that. The game is currently in my friend's possession and collecting dust at his place.

Don't you have a small boy in the family that has a PS3? He would be happy with it, he can drive over cones on the moon, race batmobiles and generally learn racing games the easy way, so that when he get's older he can step over to the real deal :D

Ha! I don't but my friend has a kid, though he's more interested in real toy cars than virtual Hot Wheels - unfortunately for PD.

I'd like to contrast the bollocks that is the GT Pitstop blog (and GT public relations in general) with one of my favourite developers, Blizzard.

http://us.battle.net/heroes/en/blog/18543837/conversations-around-the-community-matchmaking-4-3-2015

This is the sort of stuff that we're getting fairly regularly about Heroes of the Storm. Matchmaking is a big issue at the moment, and so Blizzard takes the time to explain what's going on with actual data. Some things will stay bad because it's a beta with a small population but will be changed as the game gets older, other things will be adjusted, and some things feel like they need adjusting but when looking at data they actually don't.

Meanwhile, in Polyphony land, nobody knows what Polyphony is thinking or even if some of the problems with GT are recognised as problems.

For those of you that had GT as their main racer all those years, i'm glad there is finally going to be some grade A competition on Playstation now in the form of PCARS.

It will be such an eye opener for many. Energy will be diverted from complaining and waiting for features to arrive to actually having fun.

Got a G27 a few days ago. Tried to get back to GT6... Wow... What's this wonderful wheel good for if the damn clutch doesn't work properly? If PD dares to call this game a "simulator" they should fix the clutch. Other lesser games do it better like ETS2. I drive stick in real life, so I know how terrible the clutch is implemented in this game.

The wheel works well, but it's definitely harder than I though. That is my fault for being a newbie. However, I must note that street cars shouldn't have such a hard and erratic feel to the wheel. I completely hate it. Can't even cruise at normal speeds without the wheel trying to break my arms off. Absolutely stupid.

Off from GT6 again. Will wait for GT7 in hope that all of this is fixed. (I didn't really buy the wheel for GT anyway...)
That's one thing I can complain about: the clutch is a joke. Basically for me it's pretty much an "off" switch. I'm still really enjoying the rest of the game though. :) 👍

Indeed. But sadly, many will still have this blind belief that PD is the best developer in the racing genre even though they're aren't anymore after GT4. There are so many new racing titles out there just beat up GT with ease, especially there developers that actually listen to the community. IMO, it's never good to stick with one title that hasn't been improving and correcting its errors since 15 years. Once you've tried another title that's actually better and has everything you've ever wanted from a racing game, you'll then wake up and see the truth behind PD. You then move on to said title and want to try other titles because well, you're intrested in wanting to try them; never looking after you've finally found something you really enjoy. Therefore like @mister dog mentioned above as my example, a title you'll probably play for years over this title that's been very dull lately.

You see, I was one of those people during the days of GT5, but after playing other titles and seeing the truth behind PD I've finally moved on and haven't looked back since. I even hardly come on the GT boards and GTPlanet in general, though I mostly go on here for boards like Forza and pCARS. Love those titles and there community. :D

It's sad that Kaz's "vision" for what he thought would be the best racing game, has turned out like this. Essentially every gt is just another attempt to make his "vision" come to life, and they all seem like variations of the same game, each with their own unique list of flaws, and a core list of flaws that never changes (sounds, massive variation in quality of content, gimmicks, lack of options/customisation, boring/easy career).

I remember thinking back when I had gt4, that if it wasn't for the massive car list in gt4, V8 Supercars 3 (TOCA Race driver 3 in uk I think) would be my favourite racing game. Looking back now, I can't remember having as much fun with gt4 as I did with v8sc3. Project CARS looks like a proper next gen race driver game, the way the career is set out, and the multiple classes of real racing. Can't wait to get my hands on that one.

I still play TRD3 every now and then. GT4 had more cars but the racing experience was way better in TRD3, I really like the car selection, especially the open-wheels, and there's a very nice track selection too, proper races with standing starts, balanced grid with 20 cars on track, and sim options such as qualifying, mechanical damage, and flags/penalties.

Exactly, it felt like proper racing, and not just a car collection game, where the racing is an afterthought.

Toko, you have summed up my feeling towards GT and PD exactly. All you need to do is change PCars for Assetto Corsa, I was not lucky enough to get into the Beta testing for Pcars, so I havent played it yet. I cant wait till it drops though, it looks amazing.

My poison has been AC in the rift lately on my new computer. It makes GT look, feel, and sound like the game it has become. Crap.

GT has only become fond memories for me from the GT1, 2, 3, and 4 days. in fact, 2015 is the first year since 1997 that I have not had anything GT related in the house. Sad, but oh well.

I have downloaded and played PC. Apart from the fact that it had to be downgraded to Standard car level to have some sort of framerate. It is as boring as watching paint dry. You can drive anything at the start. There is no money. It is too realistic, and not enough fun. And it was a Kickstarter. After seeing south park on kickstarters, I never want to hear another one.

Hearing about the new LMP2, where's the rest of the relevant WEC cars? No R18 e-tron, no TS040, no Rebellion, no GTE cars either. The whole FIA partnership is beginning to sound like the biggest pile of smoke and mirrors alongside the Course Maker.

Well, it's been a while since I've been in this thread and the last time I posted; I think I said something along the lines of "I'm starting to think that there's not even a point of criticizing PD or GT anymore".

Well, I'm back and now I have to say that I'm convinced that there is no point of doing that anymore. Polyphony Digital's game management clearly hasn't been the best with how long the features they promised since launched to be included within updates taking way too long. Polyphony is taking way longer with their Vision GT project than expected and there isn't even that much real car dlc. GT6 hasn't gotten much better than GT5 from the start. I could mention more, but I think I would just be repeating things said in this thread already (AI, standard cars, short career mode, & etc).

Which leads me to this question, how do people do it? How can they still be willing to criticize a series that has become so flawed and hasn't even gotten much better than in the last GT? How can they still criticize a company that clearly is not willing to break out of their shell? I ask this, because I just don't see Polyphony Digital getting any better at their series. I see the opposite with GT just getting worse until it gets lost forever or something.

So yeah, I'm open to an answer.
