I think you have something here.

If you die (at least online), then you need to build another driver persona and go through the license tests again. Let's see if the @#^$@*& drivers get to smashing their cars into you often. Better yet if you get into a crash you get a big and strong driving wheel spin enough to break your fingers just like the real thing :P.

I would not care much about the visual damage, but i would like to see proper mechanical damage implemented. And if you break your car you'll have to buy new parts for it, and if you total it you'll have to buy a new car.

They could build a better license system too, more of a rating system that goes up and down(kind of like iracing if your familiar with it) and that then leaves your progression all up to your driving, and not just in a license test but in actual races and even online. You could then set lobby settings to what licensed drivers you want to join etc. And also with having incidents like off tracks, wrecking into others, etc, your license can get demoted, i think this would give people a little more emphasis on practicing their driving skills and improving them.

Now to my whine of all this, biggest and foremost, why da fawk did PD not wait to just release this on the PS4. Sony as a whole would of had a better marketing stradegy and could of possibly sold more systems etc. The way they're doing it now, in my eyes, is they expect all of us gt lovers to buy it for the ps3 and keep paying out for dlc, when in long run probably more then half of us are getting the new system and our attention could go elsewhere. Ya i'll be getting a ps4, but as far as racing goes and gt6 being released on ps3(even if i can play it on ps4), they have lost my attention. I'd rather upgrade my PC and run better graphics for iracing at this point. I waited for GT5 after playing GT3 so i can wait awhile again for more common sense with whats available to these developers(no reason they need to be lazy with short shafting things)

This is more of a whine from GT5, when we have race cars in the game, we really need more liveries of that series. They gave us a decent amount of nascar's, but not even using restrictor plates at daytona or just the default difference in the setups of the different manufacturers was waaay off. I don't just wanna see one make of F1(man up and get the license agreement for all of them besides ferrari). Give us more liveries for the super gt series, i mean come on its a japanese series yet you only give us one car in dlc out of the 15 different liveries that could of been available for 500 cars from the year. we get plenty of duplicating freaking skylines. wheres the grand am rolex series cars? don't tease us with a few LMPs either that are years apart, give us the main dogs of today(at least within a few years of each other).

I can keep going on, but I got most of the important things out that could of made things a way better experience for a lot of people.

You hit restart.

That's not realistic. Unacceptable. Arcade.

Those that want a real simulator want REAL crashes! If you crash in the game you should jump off the roof to simulate your injuries! Now THAT'S real!

/sarcasm

Yeah I don't care about realistic crashes. As far as I'm concerned a decent and fair penalty system is WAY more important than how realistic my crash damage is.

bad crash physics means bad physics: period.

News to me.

rFactor had decent crash physics, though they weren't anywhere near perfect.

But their physics overall I find better than most console games being made today.

That's not realistic. Unacceptable. Arcade.
Neither is your disk blowing up, that's not a consequence of crashing. Nothing wrong with another driver getting in and doing the race some other time.

Also, as a simulator, there is nothing wrong with simply rerunning the simulation, which has no bearing on realism at all.

Those that want a real simulator want REAL crashes! If you crash in the game you should jump off the roof to simulate your injuries! Now THAT'S real!
No, because the simulation is limited to the game. Asking for a realistic simulation is in no way unreasonable.

I completely disagree. I don't need a penalty system at all, though a good one might be OK. Damage though needs priority. It's a part of racing and can have huge impacts on a race that will vary with the type of race and race rules.

And what you don't need or want is all that matters. lol

Some love to wield the word "simulation" like a golden sceptor.

But it's a game. It's no more real than Mario Brothers.

Except for those VERY few that advance to the final rounds of GTA, it has absolutely no connection to reality.

I don't play GT online because there is no penalty system to prevent "people" from ruining my gaming experience. Having my race ended by a crash certainly won't make the game any more fun, even if that crash is PERFECTLY modeled.

Figure a way to keep others from crashing me. THAT will make my game more fun.

I simply disagreed and said that I'd like damage to take priority.

No more real, but more much realistic.

Actually no, anyone can connect GT to reality, and it gets easier with more accurate physics. But this is besides the point. It does not have to relate to someone's day to day life. The demand for simulation comes from enjoyment of the simulation.

I don't really have this problem. In the unlikely event that a trouble causing player shows up in one of my rooms, they are kicked. I'm strictly against cutting and ramming, yet I can only remember a handful of times I've had to kick a player.

This, in my opinion, works much better than the built in penalties which actually facilitate cheating and unrealistic driving.

Plus there is league or group racing if you want even tighter control of room participants.

Figure a way to keep others from crashing me. THAT will make my game more fun.
And that's the thing. GT5's penalty system is supposed to be that. It fails miserably. I don't even think one is really necessary, but I'm aware that there is a demand for it. I really think more consistent results will come from giving the host control of the room though.

I would agree that crash physics is something not very important, at least for me, but what we witnessed in the video was not a crash but rather, something much more disturbing.

The car was just sliding on the tarmac and was brought to a halt in 1-2 seconds. That would indicate that once again, we don't get a proper physics engine with a proper tire model like most modern simulators but a "smoke n' mirrors" one that only works properly under certain conditions (the infamous low-speed physics of Gt5 etc.) which usually means that it's extremely easy to break like the video we just witnessed. I for one am very disappointed in that.

Possibly, but let's not forget that the demo isn't even ready yet. We're not looking at a finished game, and most likely not a finished physics engine.

On top of that all past GT's measure speed based on the cosine of the angle of the car which can lead to ridiculous speedometer movements that aren't accurate. The deceleration probably wasn't as bad as it looked.

And as stated before, it's unknown as to whether or not SRF or any other driving aids were on, as well as the fact that the car may have been equipped with Soft tires.

as well as the fact that the car may have been equipped with Soft tires.

But that's the problem, soft tyres are not magnets pointing at the center of the earth. So much for the new tire model if we still get superman soft compounds.

That is one of the main reasons we started hosting public lobbies with collisions off. No drafting and no crashing, of course there is also no blocking and you can drive any line you wish but it can lead to some very good racing.

Theres been some pretty lame excuses as to why GT6 is on PS3.

Theres the GT1 and GT2 were on PS1, GT3 and GT4 were on PS2, so GT5 and GT6 have to be on PS3 excuse. Brilliant thinking huh? With that logic Final Fantasy XV better be on the PS3 to keep up with the 3 full numbered titles per Sony console or there will be a rip in time continuity.

Then theres the 70M PS3 users and 0 PS4 uers excuse, which was squashed by Forza pretty good recently and of course other successful launch titles of the past.

SEO Jim Ryan even said theres still potential on PS3 for them to exploit. Thats like laboring to squeeze more power out of a 1.0 liter 3 cylinder when you can just throw in a 7.0L V8

I wish they would just tell us the real reason. Was Polyphony Digital simply behind on development? Are the development costs too high to risk a PS4 version that might not sell almost 10M units? Are they trying to give those who arent going to upgrade to PS4 anytime soon a reason to stay on the Playstation brand instead of defecting somewhere else?

Worst of all, GT6 on PS3 puts early adopters of PS4 like myself in a very, very uncomfortable situation. What if GT6 turns out to be actually pretty good? Then what? Set aside my PS4 for weeks or months at a time to get on the PS3 and GT6?

I also agree with your car criticisms. Gran Turismo has become too much about 'sampling' a large variety of motorsports instead of being able to truly indulge in one or the other. NASCAR is there but the events and tuning are nothing like the real sport.

As you say all the Le Mans prototypes are years apart and by that they perform nothing alike. Why couldnt we have 4-5 prototypes from the past year or two and 4-5 GT cars from the past year or two, instead of a dozen scattered over 30 years? The Peugeot 908 rightfully butchers the R10, so why not have a R15 or Aston Martin B09/60 or Dome S102? Or is the prototype class imply limited to Le Mans winners or Japanese Le Mans prototypes?

Theres just so much potential with the Gran Turismo series and I hate to see it wasted so badly.

Theres been some pretty lame excuses as to why GT6 is on PS3.
There doesn't need to be any excuse at all. It is on the PS3 and I for one am very happy about that. I was pretty sure it would be even before GT5 was released due to some of the comments made by Kaz saying that they were already working on GT6 and that some of the content for GT6 may become available for GT5 as DLC which very strongly indicates that GT6 was being developed for the PS3 all along.

Now if they would have decided at some point to do it for the PS4 instead then we would likely be waiting another year or 2 before we see the game and of course would have to buy a new console to play it. As it is we will be playing it this fall/winter and with a little luck a couple of years from then we will have GT7 on the PS4 and it will be even better.

Then theres the 70M PS3 users and 0 PS4 uers excuse, which was squashed by Forza pretty good recently and of course other successful launch titles of the past.

This is not so much an excuse, as an observation that they're guaranteed a direct return on investment on PS3. It's pretty much guaranteed to sell well.

On PS4, it obviously won't sell the same raw numbers because of the userbase, but you'd expect that they'd get value all the same from driving (ha!) people to buy the new console. GT is a console seller. More consoles > more games sold in general > more profit. But it's a long road, they won't see that money for some time. If they're selling the PS4 at a loss initially, it could actually hurt them in the short term.

So basically what you can read into this is that they needed cash more than they needed something to push the sales of their new console.

you guys are being serious or just being dumb because of the thread?
if you guys are serious then I'M JOINING
WHAT THE HECK PD?! WAS THAT THE BEST THING YOU GUYS GOT? SRF IS BACK GUYS.
and those sounds, terrible crap sounds along with standards and stupid ai. let's play some catch the rabbits and have some fun(not)

Looks like you haven't been reading any of KY's interviews.

Then theres the 70M PS3 users and 0 PS4 uers excuse, which was squashed by Forza pretty good recently and of course other successful launch titles of the past.
Oh it was, was it? Any details for how that is the case?

SEO Jim Ryan even said theres still potential on PS3 for them to exploit. Thats like laboring to squeeze more power out of a 1.0 liter 3 cylinder when you can just throw in a 7.0L V8
And yet GT2 still came out on the PSX within 4 months of the PS2's launch. And it's pretty clear that PD has made some big strides in getting more performance out of the system than they ever did in GT5.

I know this is the whining thread, but come on. You do realize that E3 doesn't really start till tomorow - well, today, and that both the PS3 and Vita games were only shown as trailers. This was the PS4 show. Everything else will be poured over like ants on a picnic table this week at E3 itself.

Well, at least one of the two issues I mentioned was addressed. No talk of the Livery Editor in the interview, which leads me to believe it won't be in the game.

Improved AI is very good news, but again, I'm sure I recall reading that GT5 had improved AI. So exactly how 'improved' the feature is is something we won't find out for a while.

Theres been some pretty lame excuses as to why GT6 is on PS3.

How is this for an excuse?

"We can probably sell 10,000,000+ units and including DLC, probably generate $1Billion in revenue, all the while letting the PS4 install base grow so we can launch GT7 in 2 years and make another $1Billion".

Makes perfect sense to me.

At Silverstone, you described GT6 as a modular platform that can easily be expanded upon. How will you decide what content to include within the game and what to add later as DLC?
“Well, that’s really not been decided yet!”

I hope the decision is pretty easy for themselves to answer, to be honest. Is the content complete at the time of release? Include it in the game. Is the content not ready at the time of release? DLC.

I'm pretty sure the decision must already be made if they can be sure they can provide DLC tracks once a month after release.

It should to everyone.

Improved AI is very good news, but again, I'm sure I recall reading that GT5 had improved AI.
It was improved! It... just ended up in Arcade Mode, don't ask me why. :P

I am stunned that we got more info from the Silverstone event than we did at E3, but for some weird reason (maybe not so weird as Europe is a bigger racing game market) Kaz is again saving a big slab of meat for GamesCom. Stuff will probably dribble out in the meantime, but not much, and this is going to make August seem forever away again.

Makes perfect sense to me.
Believe me, I have all kinds of sympathy for Earth's position on PS4. But at some point you have to face realty.

SONY needs cash.

GT6 will be out on PS3, and generate lots of cash.

And man, it is looking amazing for a PS3 game.

Oh well, gonna paint me some more rides...

Say it with me now, WE ARE THE PLAYERS AND WE WANT A LIVERY EDITOR!

As long as we are given the ability to put a number plate on any car I will be happy. If I can edit in a series name on that plate that would be amazing to me.

The paint chip system is fine with me as long as it's unlimited use once obtained or we are given the ability to repurchase a chip that was obtained and used.

A true livery editor isn't that big of a deal to me, especially compared to some of the other features I think need to be implemented or improved. In fact I will be disappointed if they do a livery editor before other new features or improving many existing ones.

It was improved! It... just ended up in Arcade Mode, don't ask me why. :P

Whenever I've gone on arcade mode, the AI has been pathetic. So having AI being a tiny bit better than GT4 is still a long way away from where it should be. GT6 AI needs to be somewhat revolutionary compared to GT5, and I hope that will turn out to be the case. I too was expecting more information from E3.

Yes, until you or one of your friends wants to create an online racing league. Say a pal wants to do just that. He gets GT6, fires it up, checks out the online tools... say it doesn't have a Livery Editor. He begins grouching, and you tell him, "But look, you have a number plate and license plates which you can put 'RACYROO' on. What more do you need?"

I don't think he will be too charmed by that. ;)

Honestly, I can't think of anything worse than a racing league with a bunch of tuners and supercars that look like they're gathering for a weekend motocross.

Say it with me now, WE ARE THE PLAYERS AND WE WANT A LIVERY EDITOR!
STROOTH! AND RACE MOD FOR MOST CARS!
