Finally back on track although I don't think PD had any choice Earth...They just can't restart everything from scratch at any given time, since GT5 is the base for GT6, GT6 has been in developement on the PS3 platform for almost 8 years now. Imagine having to do everything again just to make it into the PS4 in less than 2 years, maybe T10 can do that but PD...not gonna happen any time soon.

When Square Enix is making better decisions then you are, its getting really bad

It surely wouldn't take them another 5 years as the PS4's programming architecture is much easier than that of the PS3.

GT5 was the anomaly, a lot of people keep forgetting that. The average gap between releases (including from GT2 to GT3) has been two to three years.

Well now that we have more info, here's my latest whine.

The pre-order bonuses are getting out of hand. A million credits and 16 cars?

If I pre-order GT7 now can I get max credits and every car?

This actually makes me NOT want to pre-order.

Always got to have something to whine about, eh? That sarcasm doesn't even make sense as it's not about the length of time beforehand - you just seem to be doing this for the fun of it.

While we're at it, we don't even have the exact release date yet and we've already started breaking the game into chunks and advertising it. I really hate this sort of thing.

Well, you probably clicked on the wrong thread.

In some ways I kind of agree, I already had mine preordered at Gamestop because it's the handy local store I get all my physical games from before anything was announced so I'm kind of stuck with the Anniversary upgrade (assuming it's a free upgrade, which it sort of reads like it might be now).

The 16 extra cars kind of reminds me of the Chromeline ones from that GT5 special (which I never had) or all the Stealth / Academy cars we got as preorders or free gifts, I rarely (if ever) drive any of those gift / preorder cars we got in GT5 so I can happily let them gather dust either in the ticket trailer or maybe garage so I can at least view / test drive them.

I kind of hope the 1mil credits is going to be a magic lottery ticket you can choose to cash in only if you want to, like how we get cars and other tickets in GT5, so I can either delete it / gift it / save it for that rainy day when you need extra cash for a rare Used Car. If it's an automagical bank credit them I'll mostly likely blow as much of it as possible on random / insignificant junk, buy a 1mil car and just leave it to rot or sell it back at half the price and repeat until I end up with as little left as possible.

Yeah, that's the kinda thing you'd expect in a "Signature/Collector's Edition."

Too much bonuses for pre-order, truly an epic thread! :)

While I try not to view the proverbial equine bestowment via it's verbilization aperture, it does seem that if the Gamestop preorder is a free upgrade to 20 cars and miscellaneous other fluff then it's kind of an excessive bonus "just for preordering" :).

I'd have thought getting 4 special cars liveried cars as a general preorder bonus would been fine, the whole Anniversary Upgrade sounds more like something I'd have expected to pay an extra $10 or so for at least.

And for my next whine:

Paint chips are back. Good lord, why? How do I despise thee? Let me count the ways... Unrealistic. Pointless. Arbitrary.

At least we can HOPE that chips are only required for special colors like chromes and mattes. I still won't like it but at least I won't have to buy a 20k car to get a red chip so I can paint my Supra the color I want.

What the bloody hell is a paint chip anyway?

Only ever painted one car in GT5 because of the "paint chip system".

Paint chips remind me of having to use "cards" of sorts in exchange for what you want in something like a zombie apocalypse or something i.e. like in Last of Us they have "ration cards."
You give PD your paint chip/card, they give you paint.

That's how I see it anyway.

It's a permission slip. You paid for the car. You're going to pay for the paint job. But wait, you don't have permission.

The pointless museum cards and pointless horns I can ignore. They're not needed for anything. I just have to flush them periodically.

In any game, I believe, the point is to start from scratch... these bonuses and pre-release stuff are just made for getting moar moneyzz$$$... It's almost like cheating if you ask me... 👎

No pre-release buy for me, no day-one purchase for me, no GT6 for me so far... No nothing... zeero... PD hasn't impressed me so far...

There's more to the pre-order than the cars and credit bonus. I'm honestly more excited about Beyond the Apex II than getting these cars at the start.

Not really no. To me, it all still sounds like GT5.5

I think the improved physics might be more important to me than the livery editor. I still have FM 4 and 5 for my painting fix. :3

Paint-chip dlc. :boggled:👍

Always disliked the paint chip system. I would have preferred to have it so that if you want a standard colour for the car in question you visit the manufacturer. Then there should have been a custom paint shop where you can choose it from a colour wheel for a little more credit. I'm not too bothered about creating custom paint jobs and liveries myself but a lot of people are. I was going to say I'm surprised it hasn't been implemented yet but I'm not.

I am looking forward to seeing how the new physics feels though. I'm a little curious about something though. The general consensus I have seen from people who spend a lot of time with racing sims is that the PC based sims are the most accurate. When it comes to the question of Gran Turismo vs Forza (in particular FM4) opinions become more divided. I have read opinions from some people who have driven both, some prefer Forza and some Gran Turismo. I used to co-own a 360 with my brother but moved out, so only got to play up to FM2 which to me still felt a bit arcadey. When that was out it was still facing up against GT4/GT5 prologue which still didn't feel that great to me in terms of realism (though I still enjoy GT4 to this day). I found GT5's physics were a big step in the right direction as too apparently were FM4's. I own a PC and for me that is the benchmark. For those who have played both GT5 and FM4, how close are they? What are the differences? And how do you feel each can be improved for their next outing?

It sure does.

The paint chip angle was pretty lame for GT5.

It's practically inexcusable for GT6.

I'm becoming more and more convinced that Kaz has ODeed on the corporate cult Koolaid.

They just seem obsessed with the Pokemon collect em all approach, maybe it's a Japanese thing. Cars themselves are a chore to collect, the museum feature needing to be collected it unnecessary, then you have the hundreds of helmets and suits to collect and possibly the most ridiculous, 200 odd horns to collect. Paint chips not being available to buy and being one use is just another excuse to give you something to collect.

I wouldn't be surprised if they add something new to collect in GT6.
