Nice Ovation guitar in the back! Or is it an Applause (considering they're pretty much the same anyway)? How do you like it as an acoustic guitar? Because I was thinking of getting one at some point.
Although it looks like an real ovation, it really is a cheap stagg guitar.
That said it did produce some nice acoustic tones, but when you compare this with an acoustic in the 500/700 euro range, its not as good as it looks...

Cheap Stagg guitar? That's like cheating! Thanks for the response. I'll probably stick with a normal looking acoustic guitar (because of course I only considered the Ovation because it looks awesome ). :P

Wow, that's amazing! I'm quite far away from that, but I'll try learning it as good as I can. I can't promise how good I'll be though. :D

Thanx @ell470 , the guitar im using on this track is a fender strat srv sig. edition.
Its one of the 13 guitars i have, and yes i can play them all at the same time!
Dont ask me how though :)
Amps im using are a fender pro reverb silverface(early 80's i think), a fender cyberdeluxe, and a fender deville 60 watts.

As for the recording rigs,
Im an ableton live 9 user, with Komplete ultimate as my vst engine, and propellerheads reason as a rewire slave.
So for guitar sounds i can use guitar rig5, which i mostly use as an insert effect.
Most of the time i use my trusty old boss gt10 for my guitarsounds, record 2 signals, one dry (for use with guitar rig 5) and one wet gt-10 signal so im inspired to play.

The interfaces i use now are from tascam, a us-1641 and when im downstairs i use a us-366,
which are nice products but dont quite match my old emu 1616m.

The guitar sounds i used on the demo comes from the boss gt-10, although the 1.1 version ( which will be online very soon) uses the guitar rig 5 vst.

*drooling at pic* awesome collection!! Mine is only 6 guitars, but every single one with a different sound :)

Ah, Fender! That about says it all :)

I've never owned a Fender, had to settle for Squier. Only expensive guitar I've got is a Gibson SG since I record more humbucker friendly music :)

I don't own an amp at the moment, so I use a Korg multieffect for overdrive/distortion straight into my Edirol UA-25 interface & then amplitube 3 for amp modelling.

Wish I could get that clean crisp sound with my Squier Strat (it has DiMarzio pickups).

@ell470 Thanx man!
Do you got any pics of your guitars?

I have one of those stands that you put 5 guitars in & photos didn't show what was what. Since it's nearly 1am here I just put them on the bed for a quick photoshoot :)

From left to right:
Ibanez (can't remember model number, but it has built in pickups).

Epiphone ES-335 dot (has the generic epiphone humbuckers that suck).

Squier Stratocaster with Seymour Duncan pickups (not DiMarzio as I said earlier, my bad).

Epiphone SG-310 special with Seymour Duncan pickups & an old NES controller glued to it.

Gibson SG-310 with a new pickguard portraying a womans sweet behind ;)

image.jpg

Epiphone G-400 extreme (has some special hot wax double dipped alnico pickups)

and as bonus my 5 string Yamaha bass with active pickups.

I'm on my phone so I don't know how bad the photos turned out, but hopefully they'll do :)

Nice guitars man!
Nice dot you've got there!
I have the same one, that's at least 20 years old.
What kinda music do you play on your guitars?

Thank you :)

Your dot is the good ol' version, mine is pretty, but doesn't sound that good unfortunately (built 2011 I think).

When it comes to genres I'm all over the place, I love experimenting with new genres I haven't tried yet. (I tried to give a good description here, but I'll PM you a link with 2 songs instead)

But to label it, I mainly write Punk Rock, Ska & Metalcore/Hardcore.

What is your main genre?

The impression that I've gotten is that you play a lot of guitar driven music, like: funk, blues, jazz etc :)

When i first started out on guitar, soul music and latin (from JB, to motown and Curtis Mayfield to Carlos Santana)was my thing, but i soon discovered Jimi Hendrix, which became one of my influences after Santana.
After Jimi came SRV, which was another big influence that lead me into the blues(BB,Albert,Freddy,Collins).
At the moment im very into bebop, which i very much like.

So yeah, a little soul and blues with some jazz!

Awesome!

Now I know who to ask if I need a really nice guitar part done on one of my songs that my fingers can't manage ;)

Come Monday I'll tidy up the drums, add Horns & maybe put in an Organ for the backing track :)

This is what I'm doing all weekend and why I can't work on the song any earlier...

Excellent! First post updated!

@ell470 - what are you doing? Is that a printer or are you making window blinds?

Ahhh...Ok, cool! Well hurry up and get done so you can have some fun! :D

Believe me, I almost called in sick cause I'm itching to get started :P

Music is my life & if I could, I would do that for a living instead of whitering away in a factory :)

Edit:
If any of you have heard of the band Katatonia, their drummer works here as well :)

Edit2:
Oh, and ex Sabaton (now Civil War) guitarist Rickard.

I have a fair few ideas, it's just a question of can I get the means to record and is my recording stuff good enough.

@Oni91

Haha, No I was born & raised in a tiny city in Sweden with a population around 57 000.

Still live there :)

BTW, @ell470, I plan on recording actual horn parts for this once I have the time - I play all the brass proficiently by trade. I'm sure we can work something out.

That's great! Do you want to write them as well? Or should I go ahead & make software versions of them first? :)

I'm an uncle!

Not only does this mean I have this new-fangled thing called 'responsibility', in a week my bro will have likely moved out and the conversion of my current room into a music studio will begin. The ultimatum here is that I very definitely will have a very definite recording sesh by early March at the very latest, likely earlier.

In other news I still keep buying perc stuff whenever I go into a music store so there's no shortage of ideas, here.

I think I'll try my hand at writing some (I do compose as well), but I'd love to hear your ideas as well!

I'm about to get started as we speak :)

Edit: @Pako @DonJo76 @Driving Park @Oni91

Alright guys! Here we go!

This is the original backing track with Horns & Hammond Organ added: Full Song

I put a bit of Overdrive on the Hammond. If you want me to remove it I can. I almost always use Non-destructive editing :)

This is a .RAR file with the Trumpet, Trombone & Hammond split into individual files: Track by track

I didn't do any drums today... After listening to the track over & over, I'm not sure I even have to. That's your call guys. If you want me to take a stab at the drums I will, but in that case, I will do it tomorrow :)

Tell me what you think & if you want me to change anything :)

edit 2:
I made an 8bit remix of a jingle on http://5by5.tv/dlc that made it into the show! (episode 6)
Made my day :)
