I'm about to get started as we speak :)

Edit: @Pako @DonJo76 @Driving Park @Oni91

Alright guys! Here we go!

This is the original backing track with Horns & Hammond Organ added:
https://sparasmart2.comhem.se/Shares/Home.aspx?ShareID=12a32d59-e816-4be8-ac02-96f35183a08d

I put a bit of Overdrive on the Hammond. If you want me to remove it I can. I almost always use Non-destructive editing :)

This is a .RAR file with the Trumpet, Trombone & Hammond split into individual files:
https://sparasmart2.comhem.se/Shares/Home.aspx?ShareID=398527b8-cbcb-4a17-b8b0-622f34b56c69

I didn't do any drums today... After listening to the track over & over, I'm not sure I even have to. That's your call guys. If you want me to take a stab at the drums I will, but in that case, I will do it tomorrow :)

Tell me what you think & if you want me to change anything :)

edit 2:
I made an 8bit remix of a jingle on http://5by5.tv/dlc that made it into the show! (episode 6)
Made my day :)

Letting the creative process happen here, but I have to say man.... I was listening to the track and wanted to get out my big shades and my bell bottoms. Awesome fun!!! It moved me man, had some serious groove potential. :D

Thanks man! :)

Yeah, I think it turned out ok! Didn't want to go too bananas since it's only meant to be backing the solo performances :)

Nice man! I can't actually record anything tonight but I have the hits I want to record written down in Sibelius. I based some of it off some of the little riffs you made if you don't mind.

Here we go! Got the horn backgrounds I wrote last night recorded in a little practice room (I just used the rhythm backing track, so no Hammond yet). Check it out! 2 cornets, 2 trombones. I started it with a little soli to lead into the first solo...hope nobody minds. :P Time to record some solo tracks! Actually, I think I'll leave the soloing to someone else...B major may be kind to guitarists, but it is certainly not kind to horn players. :P

Ah! Real Horns always beat the crap outta Software! Wicked skills dude! I love it! :)

(And now I know who to ask for help with my SKA songs) ;)

I had a 9 piece SKA band back in the day (2 trumpets, trombone & alt saxophone). I wrote most of the Horn arrangements back then & you Sir, have bested both my writing & my former band colleagues :)

Thanks man! I used to play in a ska band in high school...it was a very informal affair, with just 2 horns (trumpet and bone) and mostly covers. The bandleader wasn't what you would call organized :P

@Driving Park @ell470 @Pako You guy's rock!
But to be honest, i think real horns are the way to go.
My bad though, didnt think of the b maj key to be such key-unfriendly for you hornplayers.
Thats a problem, i think?
Maybe c Maj is a better key for all instruments?

Nah! We save the key change for the next song collaboration ;)

@DonJo76, all I have is the .wav file of the track. The Audacity files are lost as it crashed right after I exported it to .wav (and didn't retain the files, even though I had saved previously). :indiff:

Hi Guys!

How's the song coming along?

I have a week off from work again starting monday. I've decided that I might as well try to pull off a solo if there's still space for it.

@DonJo76
I'll let you decide if my solo makes the cut or not, I believe in your judgement when it comes to music :)

Im going to pm you anyway, just awake for a few minutes. So I need to grab a koffie first. Im also off from work the next week..

I'm gonna try recording in a couple weeks, now's not a good time because in true out-of-the-frying-pan fashion, the moment I had most of the house to myself, my dad got all ill :/

Something like this would be awesome for the verse !

What a feel good song!

No one's calling you a liar, but there's now smoke without fire! lalalala!

Man it s*cks that your files got lost!
Is there any chance you could re-do the recording?

It may be possible to retrieve the tracks...I found the files while in Audacity but they don't appear anywhere else on the computer, including in the folder where Audacity says they're in. But they're there, somewhere, so I may be able to salvage them.

Hello @DonJo76 , remember me from Melmac, ha hah aha, ?

Now I'm not joking, I found this thread as a pleasant surprise (since I was so involved in timetrials with the guys of WRS), because I'm a lover of music and bass player myself .
Maybe you dont need collaboration since you have the best on the bass (Jaco/Pastorius/ @Pako), but anyway I though it would be nice from me to say hello to musicians 👍

Is it a SRV Strat in your avatar?

Lol! Mr Alf is back!
Did you enjoy your trip through galaxies and nebula's? :)
Didnt know they had musicians on melmac!!!

But anyway, Mr pako pastorius is one hell of a bassplayer!
If i remember correctly, he used his fretless bass on this track.

So youre a bassplayer yourself?
What kind of genres/styles do you play?

About the avatar, it is indeed a srv strat from 96.
Which was pretty much my roadgoing strat for the last 10 years.

Some live sounds on a jamsession i did a couple of years ago....

To bad the bassplayer was searching for the right notes.:ill:

Cheers man!

Thanks DonJo76. Yes I played bass (by ear) in late 70's in a cover band for local dancings and parties. My favorites at that time were Deep Purple, Led Zepp, Santana, Pink Floyd, King Crimson, Hendrix, Clapton, JL Hooker, Muddy Waters - Crazy times with hundreds of more names. Then in 81 I was liking all the jazz-rock "new" names - Wheather Report, Return to Forever, Miles, Hancock - and started classes in a jazz school but only had half a year. The whole thing had to wait almost 35 years because of my profession that had nothing to do with music :grumpy:.

I stopped working 2 years ago, went to a jazz school again  and now i'm studing and playing jazz standards, but never forgeting blues, rock, funky and soul ;)

Re the SRV I also have one (its recent, 2009) that's why i recognized ...

Good news! In about a month or two I should be able to record vocals. I'm working full time now and recording gear is at the top of the list of things to buy. :D

@ell470 Nice!! Bring it on!!!!
I will put youre solo in the mix tonight!

So....,
The first soloist has made his contribution to the track, i really hope more will follow!
You know what people say...:
If there's one sheep over the dike..., then the rest will follow!:confused:
Oh wait a minute, what i meant was uhm... Come one come all!
:D:D:D

EDIT: First solo is a fact, and reposted twice by other soundcloud members!👍:)
