In less than four years, we’ve gone from Jim Mattis to Patrick Shanahan to Mark Esper to Richard Spencer back to Mark Esper and now Christopher Miller. Have I got that right?

It wouldn’t surprise me if it was nothing but a political move to show that he’s still in charge.

This time around, I'd imagine it was due to Esper's aversion to using armed forces to quell various BLM protests over the last many months.

Was checking the numbers on CNN's website and I here are 2 questions from a curious foreigner:

1. Why is Alaska still under 50% of votes counted, almost one week after the election? People were making fun of Nevada but but that one is over 97% now and has been called already so not too different from all other states.

2. Is there a reason for the fact that North Carolina hasn't been called yet? With 98% of votes counted and with Trump leading there by nearly 80.000 votes is there any fact I'm missing that means this could still change and flip for Biden ???

Some (most) parts of Alaska are absurdly remote so it takes a while to get the vote count in. A week does seem long enough, though. I can't say I know how long it typically takes.

If there's 2% left, that's about 109,000 votes. I'm sure it won't happen but if Biden got 73-ish percent, of those, he could win it. But he won't.

Last time I checked, there as still enough of a statistical chance for him to take it that they didn't want to call it. I think it is possible even based on existing statistics, for him to pull it off, which is why it's not called.

I've still been watching Arizona and Georgia. They're trickling votes in. Arizona is very tight. The lead in Georgia has been going up, so I'm not sure which state will end up closer in the end. I still expect the hammer to drop in Georgia and for it to tighten when the whole thing is tallied.

Next month is going to be a load of "you won't believe what we found" and "it's looking good" until it all gets certified. Then they'll still moan.

It's not over, that's for certain. I had genuine concern that he'd do something supremely detrimental (immediately so, rather than the constant gradual erosion of freedoms and confidence in the system), and I suppose he still could, but really it's basically over, and it didn't end with a bang, rather many, many, many, many whimpers.

The latest Georgia update puts it at 11.5k spread to Arizona's 16.7k spread. If Georgia could pull up to 25k, a recount could be avoided (that seems very unlikely). Still, I wonder which of these states will end up being the real closest call out of this election.

I really expected that some sort of juicy story would "leak" to the press about Biden, right before the election but it seems that this career politician's worst behaviour is sniffing hair and having a son with what seems at worst a love for the good life*. He's a Democrat so I my expectations remain low but when your predecessor hits rock bottom, the only way is up.

*Charlie Sheen style.

I'm willing to bet that there were some dead people who voted. And some attempts at Fraud. I mean, heck, we already know two deranged Trump voters from VA tried to plant a bunch of false votes in PA. For all we know, there may also be fraudulent votes for Biden and not just Trump.

But is it the 40,000+ in PA? Or the 11,000+ in GA? Or the 20,000+ in NV? And realistically, it would HAVE to be all of the above to overturn the election. It's done. Which is why the vote was called. But iif you look at social media, it's clear that there are thousands, probably millions of Trump voters out there who really believe that Trump is somehow still going to pull it off. They are fully convinced he's still going to win. I guess, this is the kind of illusion one suffers when you obtain all of your news from social media and you don't trust legitimate news sources.

It seems like their only shot was their belief that the Hunter Biden "story" that would turn into a Hillary's Email Server disaster; and once they realized that the public at large rolled their eyes at it and made jerk-off motions with their hands they were stuck.

If GA and AZ both go Biden (which they currently look like they will), then Trump would have to overturn 36 electoral votes. So that's Pennsylvania, Arizona, AND Nevada for example. Georgia, Arizona, and Nevada wouldn't cut it.

Over 4 million though? Because that's the difference in popular vote. It's not even close.
