I have heard some chatter that Secret Service is under orders not to let Trump "inspect" the White House bunker, and a group of Republican senators (Mitch McConnell's name has been floated) is either at the WH or on its way to talk him down into conceding...

Has someone told Trump that the White House bunker isn't on a Par 5?

We were talking about protocol for removal by force. They're all with the same agency despite working different details of protection, so I'd wager they'd all work together to ensure the safety of everyone involved, and it won't come to Trump's detail versus Biden's detail.

It's insane that this has even been discussed, but now I want little more than to find out as events unfold.

Report it if you don't like it or, you know, take it in the light hearted manner it was meant.

To be fair to numbnuts, I wouldn't want my (user)name being 'shopped onto comments I didn't make.

Seems like the sort of thing a Trump worshiper would do.

-----------------------

I do wonder how many Republican voters did so depite Trump, rather than because of him? I could at least understand wanting the party of your choice to win and the guy in charge being something to put up with to make that happen; I'll never be able to comprehend voting for Trump because they actually like the guy.

I know quite a few who did not trust the Democrats and held their nose for Trump.

Respectfully to Mary, she may not be the best source for that sort of information. She may be absolutely correct, but there's an awful lot of animosity there...as you can probably imagine given that she's related to the ****er.

She was entertaining during the debates, that's for sure.
Isn't she estranged from him? Even though she may know his character, she's literally nowhere near him physically and may not be able to completely explain anything current family members are saying to him.

I gather she's a Trump in name only, much of the bad blood resulting from contests over Fred Trump Sr.'s estate. Robert actually filed suit to block the release of her book, though that was resolved in court prior to his passing.

Impossible to quantify that, but hopefully someone will crunch the numbers to quantify how much better republicans did in general compared to the presidential race - they're looking likely to take almost all of the tossup seats.

According to Lewandowski on Twitter, the venue was chosen because "all great Americans in PA use Four Seasons Total Landscaping. They love this country and are American Patriots"

:lol::lol:

And true American Patriots squeeze every penny out of being in office that they can, including taking "contributions" to hold events in the parking lots of random gardening contractors. That's the businessman's way, the capitalist way, the American way.

Some rumors swirling around:

What are the odds of Trump actually conceding?

I'd say there's a higher likelihood of him withdrawing his concession without having actually given it.

I have heard some chatter that Secret Service is under orders not to let Trump "inspect" the White House bunker, and a group of Republican senators (Mitch McConnell's name has been floated) is either at the WH or on its way to talk him down into conceding...

To be fair, it's probably in the Republican party's long term interest not to back Trump in this. Trump will never get another shot at the presidency, but that doesn't mean that the party doesn't need to look to the future. They don't need to be seen condoning refusing to hand over the presidency, as I imagine they'd like to get it back from Biden at some point.

Mitch McConnell is many things but dumb isn't one of them. If letting Trump throw his toys out of the pram is going to be damaging to him and the Republican party then he'll be there with everyone else trying to stop it.

Quote from that article:

I worry about what Donald’s going to do in that time to lash out. He will go as far as he can to delegitimise the new administration, then he’ll pass pardons that will demoralise us, and sign a flurry of executive orders. Remember, he will also still be in charge of the US response to the pandemic. There could be a million Americans dead by then under his watch.

That is precisely what I'm most concerned about right now - him burning the place down on his way out.

I was hoping Biden "officially" winning would actually take longer so Trump would have less time to do... whatever he's going to do.

Heh.

Edit: The comment above didn't appear until this was posted. Not that the comment above isn't appreciated, but it didn't contribute to my mirth in quite the way that the discussion above it did.
Heh.

By my calculations, which are actually NYT's calculations, Dems currently control a +7 majority in the House which is considerably weaker than what they had. Reds net gained 5 seats. But Dems could get +8 due to CA-39 which currently has nearly 320,000 votes counted but a Red margin of only 3,000 a 98% completion. It hasn't been called yet.

I'm right there with you and I think it's an entirely legitimate concern, however it's a concern founded upon a pattern of behavior and the apparent temperament of the subject, even in Mary's case because she doesn't have access to privileged information by virtue of her being his niece; she's practically persona non grata in the Trump family proper.

Yeah, the counting isn't done, but we all know that things won't be done when the counting. We know something is next but what that is, we can't say with any kind of confidence...so, "yes."

As an aside, I really like this. Sure, it's the color used to represent that side, but there are also connotations within the country's history, not only very early on but also in the last ~70 years. It's also super satisfying to contrast "Dems" because it has a vowel and consonants in the same quantity and in the same arrangement.

Basically nil. That's fine by me, of course; I hope for him to be dragged out of the White House, kicking and screaming.

This needs to be a primetime pay-per-view event. Think of the money it could bring in for a country that’s just spent a bunch with 2020 being what it’s been.

Poetic justice for the US to make money off Trump right as he leaves office.

I mean...I have genuine concerns about what's to come, but right now I'm trying to focus on what puts a smile on my face.

Also that'd be an opportunity to make money back, because he may have donated his salary, but he also cost the country an awful lot of money for golf alone, and after having criticized his predecessor for the very same activity, though much less of it.

Normally I’d call them Reps but they’re not even good at being reps so I’m going to avoid that from now on. Reds it is. Or Rebs which is also accurate. Classical Dixiecrats have morphed into modern Rebelicans

WHAT IS YOUR MAJOR MALFUNCTION, NUMBNUTS?

So... the Four Seasons Landscaping press conference... that was actually a real snafu by the Trump team? I'd thought it was a joke. Love it.
No prizes for guessing what pizzas they ordered for their guests...

Wait, what? Veggie Supreme!? Can't they get anything right! :ouch:

Reds has a completely opposite connotation on this side of the pond so I'm amusing myself (and only myself) by referring to them as Pugs (as in "Repugnicans"). This is no better than their side referring to Dims or Dumbs though so at some stage I guess the traditional GOP abbreviation will probably come back into play for me.

Not Chicago, that's for sure... Detroit and NY-style are probably off the menu as well.

I believe McConnell has previously said there will be a peaceful transition regardless of what Trump says.

If McConnell is actually going to talk to Trump, he probably is the one Republican who can get him to concede. The amount of power Mitch has in his party, it's almost surprising he never ran for President (tmk).

"I am shocked! Shocked! Well, not that shocked."

This is the same campaign that reportedly had tricked its donators into accepting recurring donations every week until December once they made a first donation.

Mitch is a lot like Nancy. They are power brokers. Their interest lies in the gamesmanship of the political process. I doubt either one of them has a sliver of interest in becoming President. And in both cases, neither have the Charisma to pull it off.
