I think it's quite likely that Trump would step down if he felt he was definitely going to lose the election. He has repeatedly demonstrated that he has no sense of loyalty to anything other than himself.

I agree. He would have no problem leaving the GOP in a complete power vacuum months before an election because he doesn't care about the GOP at all.

Wouldn't Pence automatically become president? If for some reason he couldn't fulfil his duties then I think Nancy Pelosi is next in line to the "throne".

Yup, that's the line of succession and it would cause an absolute cluster if it were to happen right before the election. I'm not sure how the Republican party would respond, especially if Trump stepped down after the convention. Basically it would null out all the primaries and leave the GOP in a bit of a mess. Not to mention the fundraising Trump did would be ripe for corruption since god only knows who'd scoop up a piece of that pie.

In addition to all that, states would need to redo all their ballots and ensure the wrong ones are properly destroyed.

If Trump is truly going to stepdown, it's in the GOP's best interest he does it sooner rather than later. The closer the election gets the stickier the situation.

Trump won't step down because it's an admission of defeat. To him, it would be far more palletable to run, lose the election and blame it on rigging, fraudulant votes and everybody else until the heat death of the universe.

As Joey is kind of indicating, what I mean is that I sincerely doubt the GOP would want Pence to be the candidate because he has zero charisma. Yes, he would be president if Trump stepped down, but the election would be a complete mess.

It can be difficult to get into the head of someone like this. But Trump could leave a stronger legacy (in his mind) if he bails than if he goes on to lose or has a bad second term. His faithful are still faithful. That might not be the case if he stays the course.

As I understand it there are significantly large sections of the American population who would vote for a hairbrush ahead of Biden provided it was sufficiently endorsed by the Grand Ole Party. I can see how it would be a massive problem logistically however.

I couldn't help but have a good chuckle to myself at the thought of President Nancy though, and at all the people who would be in apoplexy at the thought of such a possibility however infinitesimal.

Hard to say. Of course Trump would blame it on millions of illegals/dead Democrats voting. He could also claim some kind of family/health emergency - that's a usual tactic. It's possible that he will leave some kind of Peronist aftermath with a loyal core... it's also possible that he will be disgraced & repudiated by a re-constituted Republican party.

Came across these two contrasting "family photographs" of the Trumps & the Obamas that speaks volumes:

These are images chosen by them to publicly represent their families. It remains astonishing to me that so many millions of Americans would think that Trump is someone who looks out for their interests.

You're suggesting gold plated baroque furniture, Trompe-l'œil vaulted ceilings, crystal chandeliers, and Corinthian columns do not represent the heartland? When you realize it's all likely cheap & fake (those column capitals are probably Styrofoam slathered in plaster and spray painted gold, for example) it does feel slightly more representative in a way...Trump should be the mayor of Las Vegas really.

Trump's family photo looks like a Twin Peaks dream.

You know, where the model in a gold trimmed penthouse is hanging out alongside the middle aged shirt-and-tie weirdo with the child riding a lion?

All it needs is some mirrored reverse speak.

It would be funny if he forgot to formally declare in any state. Hasn’t the deadline passed for most states, even for an independent?

Funnily enough, Joe Exotic got nearly a thousand votes in 2016.

Oh, and Elon Musk endorsed him right away. Dis gon’ be good. At least he stayed true to his word to what he said in 2015.

He's trying to take votes away from Biden for his buddy Trump
He’s got the same credentials as Trump: being an outsider with no experience, and he seems like a populist, just like Trump and Bernie are. All it could take could be plenty of disenfranchised Bernie supporters to spice things up. My voting plan is for Jorgensen as of right now despite the blue text. Looks like that’s not going to change.

Not sure how he plans on that. The voter base one would expect Kanye to immediately grab onto is the general Youth of, & Black America, except because of Kanye's vocal support of Trump, a huge chunk of either voter base likely wants nothing to do with him. I believe in May, he had already insinuated he was voting for Trump.

It would be humorous if he actually did vote for Trump.
That being said, has there EVER been an election where one of the candidates running did NOT vote for themselves?

I don't think he'd be the greatest president of all time (of all time) and wouldn't expect any ringing endorsements from other black presidents after his stunt at the 2009 Video Music Awards.
