Jon Bolton. Latest "Never Trumper" to emerge from Trump's administration.

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-53086042

I think I'm starting to see a pattern here ...

BBC News
The Trump administration is trying to block the book from hitting shelves.

Better than a jacket quote for boosting potential sales. Trump's niece must be rueing the timing of her tell-all book release as it looks like the old warmonger has sunk her battleship publicity-wise.

And this is what we call "voter suppression".

Seriously, the whole country just needs to move to mail-in ballots with in-person voting on the day of the election. It'd resolve so many issues.
Which is why I'm expecting Trump or one of his minions to demonise Tiktokgate in order to use it as a justification not to allow a vote-by-mail option despite this episode proving that voting in person is just as, if not more susceptible to manipulation by unscrupulous parties (pun intended).

They also have mail-in ballots. They just need to be postmarked by Tuesday.

And when did you need to fill out an application for them by? In Utah every registered voter just gets a ballot in the mail like a month before the election, you can then mail it back in, drop it off at any city hall in your county, or drop it off at any polling place on election day. I can also go to any polling place I want in the county to vote and they'll look up my information and give me a ballot, we open polling sites a week before the election.

Any place that tries to cram all voting into one place, on one day, or puts in stupid restrictions is just suppressing voters.

Kentucky is not a vote by mail state, so they are not going to mail out ballots to every registered voter.

This is a primary where the top of the ticket for both parties has already been decided. Only about 200k ballets were requested in a state of over 4 million people. It doesn't seem to me that there is much demand.

The polling place is at the Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center. It's a huge place, and there will be voting on Monday, and Tuesday.

So you have to request one? Would you do that if you're expecting to vote locally?

Only about 200k ballets were requested in a state of over 4 million people.

Looks like people were expecting to vote locally given that voter turnout is normally around 35-50% in Kentucky.

The polling place

In the current climate it's hard to imagine all 616,000 registered voters in Jefferson county getting safely in and out, regardless of the size of the exhibition centre, no?

Elections obviously are being manipulated by all sides, left, right, inside and outside. Somebody - maybe everybody - considers what they are doing as fair. For many, the ends justify the means, and playing the game like an honest, sincere schoolgirl is for losers. Perhaps the dirty tricks will balance out. Maybe it's down to fate. Why worry?

That's pretty a pretty nihilist take from the guy always going on about how life must have purpose.

Do you mean he's fiddling while Rome burns? (Not sure with what.)

Hmmm...I think fiddling is too passive. This is more what I had in mind:

When Trump writes his best selling tell-all book after losing the Presidency & the Senate in November ... , he will reveal that he's been a Democrat all along & just spent the last 4 years in an epic troll of the Republican party. :P

The choice is clear. Sleepy Joe is suffering from dementia & can't string a coherent sentence together ... whereas Trump faced by a "gotcha question" from a hostile MSM reporter nails it:

I mean... he talked coherently at least. Even if what he said had absolutely **** all to do with the question.

Frankly, it's pretty evident they are both too old. The saving grace for Biden is that he is not an egomaniac & will listen to the advisors around him, whereas Trump has arrived at a situation where he as co-opted the Republican party & no longer has any advisors that he listens too.

In addition he seems to be running out of cash if this article in the British Indy is anything to go by. I can't see that being a problem for long though as I'm sure GOPers will drum up the readies for him in a heartbeat if it looks like Sleepy Joe is pulling ahead. Whether or not Trump's fabled money management skills will allow him to put it to the best use is something else again.

All Trump has to do to get money is host government or Republican functions at his own properties.

In the former case it's bish, bash, bosh, free money from the taxpayer whilst charging double.

Trump retweeted a video of people saying "white power" and has since deleted it.

Someone needs to do a "what did the Romans do" style video chronicling his negative actions and comments in relation to black Americans....

Cross-thread to keep it on topic quote!

But I feel like this is starting to change. The political efficacy of millennials and Gen-Z'ers is higher than any other generations, and they are beginning to realize the power of voting,

So, you'll vote 3rd party in November, or will it be Biden because he isn't Trump?

Based on his history with bankruptcy, Trump is inclined to throw in the towel when the situation looks unwinnable. I'm sure it would involve some biblical levels of victim mentality. I don't think it's likely, but I don't think it's implausible either.

That's fake newzzz. The polling numbers are fake.
Of course they'll say this despite those polls predicting the result of the popular vote fairly accurately. Perhaps they should poll state electors as well.

Reluctantly I’m Ridin’ with Biden. Although I vehemently despise both candidates (after all, both are rapists), at least Joe acknowledges the existence of climate change and has a plan (though vague and lacklustre) to combat it, and also he would keep the Supreme court more balanced. There's no way that Ruth Ginsburg will be alive, or at least able to serve, at age 92, especially given her health history. Under Trump, the supreme court would be 6-3 while under Biden, it would be 4-5, given Ginsburg is no longer a justice. Like I said, Biden sucks and I don't feel any enthusiasm for him. On the political compass, he's significantly closer to where Trump stands (both are authoritarian right) than Bernie (libertarian left).

Even Trump has endorsed Biden if I am reading this article correctly:

Indy
"He's going to be your president because some people don't love me, maybe," the president told Sean Hannity.

Provided he's packed SCOTUS with enough right-leaning judges I wonder whether he has the power to exonerate himself on the way out of any crimes of which he may be accused? An alternative scenario is that he makes an immunity deal with the GOP in return for stepping down ahead of time. Being unfamiliar with US law however I'm not sure how likely either of those options are.

Either way, how narcissistic is it to even consider the possibility that the majority of US citizens love him? It sounds kinda Kimesque to me.

Yes because an independent president while democrats and republicans control what that president gets to sign in law is going to work.

I think it's quite likely that Trump would step down if he felt he was definitely going to lose the election. He has repeatedly demonstrated that he has no sense of loyalty to anything other than himself.
