Are you having a laugh? He gets away with murder most of the time. It really pisses me off how he can just decide he doesn't have to talk to the media because they lost and no one does anything. Any other manager would be punished, I believe Mourinho was at least warned about something like that. Rooney elbows the dude in the face, no card, ref smiles and pats him on the back....FA does nothing, FIFA call up "Why the hell haven't you done anything?" FA still does nothing.
I'm a liverpool fan and we get away with some things well, but Man Utd are on another level.
Yes, I agree some of the decisions that go (or don't go) for United are bollocks. However, I also think that the FA needs to take a serious look at the consistency of its rulings, in all cases. There are far too many times when players or managers say things that could be construed as offensive and get away with it (ref in a Newcastle jersey on Twitter comes to mind), then there are times when one person makes one comment that was clearly not well thought out and gets a 5(?) game ban for it.
The FA needs to decide what the penalty for "dissension" with officials is and enforce it in ALL cases, ALL the time. It's farcical the way their rulings vary these days.
Ideally, they would realize how far up their own 🤬 they are and just let the managers get away with saying what they're thinking, but I doubt that will happen. I don't understand, when they are asked in an interview to give their own
opinion of how the match went, they are still expected to tow the FA's line of 'the officials are always right' when that's clearly not how they feel. I understand the idea of professional integrity and courtesy, but I don't see how it's the FA's business to make sure someone isn't making a fool of their own reputation in the media. The onus of enforcing professionalism should be on the clubs, not the FA. Why is it not up to the manager's employer whether or not their comments crossed the line?
At the end of the day, the FA's decision is the FA's decision. We can 🤬 & moan all we want, and it won't change anything. I just feel that this is yet another way in which football is quickly descending into farce with its kung-fu grip on tradition. It's time for changes, and not just with the FA.
