Some questions, possibly naive and possibly already answered:
- Has the global or national percentage of homosexuality been constant over time? What is that percentage - 10%?
- Do other species - say termites, mice, whales, cows, crows or wolves, have a similar, constant rate of homosexuality over time?
- There is the simpleminded argument that if everyone were homosexual, then civilization would end and the human race cease to exist due to failure of procreation. What is the counter to that argument?

Not sure about the first two, but when it comes to the third question:
That's a very big "if". Yes, if everyone was homosexual, there's a good chance the human race would die out. Similarly, if everyone hung themselves, there's a good chance the human race would die out. But it's never going to happen, so there's very little point discussing it.
Also I know a few gay people, both male and female, who have had kids. So it's not like being homosexual and parenthood are mutually exclusive.

I just find it odd that this is such a "debate". If it weren't for how much gays are discriminated against it would actually be hilarious how much the anti-gay lobby cares about what hole other people like.
From a citizen of a country where this was done and dealt with pretty much drama free like 10 years ago, it's just such a non issue that I can't get over how much opposition there actually is. Unless you want to marry someone of the same gender it's such a non issue.

The issue of same-sex marriage shouldn't be debatable. Human rights shouldn't be voted on. (Yes, that's me taking the stand that marriage is a human right).
This is my hope for the direction that the US is heading. I hope the Supreme Court goes bold with a sweeping ruling and then we can all just move on.

Yeah, I mean I just find it silly that "the land of the free" is so caught up with this. It's honestly hilarious how juvenile the "against" arguments are. And the fact that this is actually a "tough" decision for the SCOTUS. It's something my 14 year old brother understands.

It'll happen eventually. When it becomes legal the country will just move on and it won't be an issue any more. That's how it's been in Canada, it just happened, there's no drama or anything and everyone moved on with their lives.

The world is not freely because of the corrupt Government and their phonnie Amendments and because of sin. But if the world gets freely imagine all the violence that would be spreading across the world. I now see why there are laws and rules so they can protect us. Freedom comes with consequences. I know this will sound dumb but what if the pedos did a rally for saying we can have true relationships with kids, sounds sick but anything can happen. PETA says animals shouldn't be abused or hurt but yet they killed over 8,000 animals. The Government abuses their power.

Marriage shouldn't ever be a legal institution up for regulation of any kind.
I see DOMA getting kicked out but the state level stuff being a split decision that may go either way.
But the Supreme Court surprises often.

Freedom and rights have limits at the point of directly impacting another person. If violence was spreading then it wouldn't be a "freely" world. A free society that recognizes freedom, liberty, and rights does have laws and rules that protect freedom, liberty, and rights for everyone.
No no no. Kids are not consenting adults. They cannot agree with proper and mature thought to that relationship. A relationship, gay or straight, requires two consenting adults. Pedophilia has as much in common with homosexuality as it does with heterosexuality. Just watch the next To Catch A Predator special to see it in action.
PETA's goal is to have animals recognized as being equal to human. It's nuts, since they are (very tasty) food. But they are trying to legitimize their point if view with government. And the number of animals they have euthanized is more like 33,000 since 1998.
Yes, like denying basic equal treatment to consenting adults due to their choice of which consenting adults they wish to consent to act with.

What about adults who are unable to agree with a proper and mature thought?
To my experience a lot of people make important decisions without giving it a proper thought.
Ah, finally the last obstacle on the way of a perfect society would be removed. I own guns and would probably find enough similarly thinking (and armed) people to establish a totalitarian regime of my own. Finally those hippies and commies could be locked up for good.

I hope you were sarcastic. In my country, just after we became independent, the government was weak and had no standing army or other than a local policeman per village/town. The socialists and anti-socialists (nationalists) started forming their own armed guards, which finally led to the socialists starting a civil war against the government and the nationalists. Foreign powers (Germany and Russia) started then getting involved, which finally led to 40 000 dead (and a nationalist victory).
Just because the government lacked enough power to prevent those private guards from being formed. Only a fool wants a situation where the government isn't strong enough to maintain peace - after all, the first and foremost reason why there are countries controlled by their governments that they can maintain peace that is necessary for the society to prosper.

I like target shooting. They would also be useful to resist tyranny or to protect yourself should the society fall into anarchy.
Pretty much nothing, I just wrote a reasoning why anarchy doesn't work and for what we need governments strong enough, and I see he was provoked by my post.
We however don't need oversized governments, but what is oversized is again subjective - is marriage unnecessary intervention by the government, I don't think so. On topic, gay couples could be allowed to similar economical help and legal status, but you already know my opinion on this, IMO "marriage" as a word has for a period of time so long been used (all the time it has been used in England and English language, for example) to describe a man-woman union only that it should stay so, if only for the historical value.
