Well I’m pissed off.
grabbed the RX-Vision and off I went, regularly putting in 56/57’ laps with fastest of 55.6. RM tyres and FM1. Couple of mistakes, but nothing more than a second or two lost.

Fraga decides to pit of lap 30 however, he was 8 seconds ahead of me and wins by 2 seconds with a total time of 1 hour 11 seconds. Frikkin gutted 😭

Edited to add…
while my head was still bothered by the above, I figured I may as well give the RSR a quick try and it may suit me better overall. Bullied my way to 2nd place after 2 laps and 1st place while going through the 3rd lap. Ok that’s only 3 laps, but shows enough for me to leave it for another day and go through it with the RSR 👍🏻
Completed! 😃 RSR was definitely the one for me. I won with 22 seconds in hand against 2nd place and 30 laps dome. 😎👍🏻

Anyone tried the new nissan gtr gr3 in this race? Is it any good?
I haven't tried any other cars since the last update, so don't know how this compares now, but it's 1 second slower than I did with the RX Vision some time ago. The new GT-R is very easy to drive, with a lot of grip on corner exits, I didn't feel the need for any TC. Tyre wear was a little front-biased, so it became a teeny bit more understeery as each stint progressed. You want to shift at the full red bar, I filled to 66% at the 1st stop, and 73% at the 2nd stop, anticipating getting through 30 laps before the hour ran out.

I heard this car was instantly one of the metas in gr3. Only tested it in a lap arround le mans and it felt great in handling but a bit slow on speed. Didnt know if the bop in this race would put on top or not.
I did redo this with the mazda rx vision, and yes it is great right now. Won 1st try.

As a few people have mentioned the Porsche, I gave it a try, went through 30 laps in 59:34, which is the fastest time I've ever done for this race, but other cars might also be faster than they used to be after the latest update.

One thing this showed me is that the leaderboard doesn't sort by time for the same number of laps, I think it must give precedence to the earliest performance for a given number of laps. It has left my RX Vision performance on the leaderboard, presumably because that was the first time I did 31 laps, even though I did a faster time in the Porsche today. IMO it would be much better if the leaderboards sorted first by number of laps, then by total race time, and showed the total race times on the leaderboard, like ACC does for its fixed duration time trials.

By negative experience I can tell, this is not the case (or bugged to my loss).
Maybe sorted to fastest lap..

This is the last car I'm testing for this race with this update, seeing as how we still don't receive any credits for it. 59:39 for 30 laps with the RX-Vision. I think it can actually match the Porsche if you shift at half bar the whole race. This costs almost no time due to how flat the power curve is at the top end, but saves a lot of fuel. I did it for stints 2 and 3, but forgot to re-calculate the fuel needed at the 2nd stop, so had 2 laps too much fuel as you can see in the screenshot. Saving that refuelling time would bring it down to around the same total race time as the Porsche.

Mazda rx vision and porsche are really good for this race right now. Tested both and won the race with not too many problems.
Mazda is faster but a bit harder to control, Porsche is just so good at handling.
They are about the same in terms of fuel economy.
Absolutely recommend both.

Also tried the hyundai to see if was still good for this race as it was months ago. It still is! Won the race.
I would put the hyundai between the mazda and the porsche in terms of performance. Not as fast as the mazda, not as stable as the porsche.
Still recommended.
I have the feeling the last updates to car physics and tyres made this race easier than when it came out.

Yes, I think it has to be a lot easier now. I remember early on a top split driver won with around 1:00:40, beating the AI by certainly less than 30 seconds, might even have been less than 20 seconds. Now I'm able to win by 40+ seconds, and I'm a fair bit slower than that top split driver in the time trials for credits.

Finally completed this today, had been trying with the 4C, best time was around 1hr and 30 seconds, the BMW won with 1hr 9secs that time!

Gave the Mazda a go, tried a 1 stop on hards first, had a massive collision with some AI that cost me 12 seconds, ended up about 15 seconds off the winner so thought it'd be possible, but had dropped down the 6th by then.

Gave it a go on a 2 stop RM, first stint first 5 full laps were in the 1:55s, was in the lead by the 3rd lap and had a 5 second gap which magically I then couldn't extend any further despite maintaining 1:56s for the rest of the stint...

Did an extra lap on the first stint, noticed I had used more fuel than the others so I short shifted for stints 2 and 3, pitted for the second time and after much deliberation stuck in enough fuel for 9 laps, despite being on lap 22...

Came out just in front of V. Gallo in the NSX, had a good fight for a few laps then he pitted, ultimately ended up 27 seconds ahead once everyone pitted, realised I had an opportunity to get 31 laps so went fuel saving for the last couple and completed the 31 laps.

Glad it's out of the way, was my last one for all gold in the missions.

May try the Porsche but I'm saving up to get the 3 Le Mans 67 cars for the trophy, that and 50 Sport races will be the platinum :)

Well I ended up trying the new nissan gtr '18 gr3. Won the race aswell.
I'd say this car is close to the porsche in terms of performance. Handles amazing but average top speed.
If you like the porsche you probably going to like this gtr aswell.
Also recommended.

I will never Gold this race :(

It feels like I don't compete with the same material are that they have an unfair advantage.

I lap constant high 1:56 and low 1:57. As I'm handicapped and only have one fully functioning hand it feels like a real achievement.

But then again, the AI is doing low 1:55 and high 1:54 so after lap 3 I'm already 20 seconds down on the first three. No way I can achieve this times with a BoP car. And on top of that it is always the McLaren, the Corvette or the Subaru that is on a no stop.

Their finishing time was this time a 1:00:01,615 and I'm roughly 50 seconds behind in P7.

Also the amount of grip is ridiculous. The M6 often passes me around the outside with much more grip and speed.

And no matter which difficulty level I use, the outcome is always the same.

Best AI lap of the race 1:54:5xx and my best lap 1:56:3xx and over half a minute behind the leader.

All missions, all license tests and all circuit experiences I golded without a problem. But this race shows me my inabilities.
Really frustrating. No race makes me feel more handicapped than this race.

The main problem with rubilar (blue bmw m6) is that his performance doesn't seem to be afected by tyre degradation. So when your tyres degrade and you start getting slower, thats when he starts getting closer and closer to you.
But AI drivers often waist a lot of time passing backladder cars. Use that to your advantage when you are behind.
I recommend to you the following strat:
Use racing medium tyres.
Pit stop at lap 10, full fuel.
Pit stop at lap 20, fuel for just 10.3 laps.
Race ends on lap 30.
For the car I recommend mazda rx vision. Its one of the fastest cars atm. But porsche, hyundai, the new nissan gtr are also great choices.
If you can consistently get lap times between 1.56:xxx and 1.58:xxx, you will beat this race no problem. Good luck

But it is exactly what I did. Same Strategy, same car. (Mazda)

But as I said. The first 3 cars lap constant 1:54 high and 1:55 lows. So even with my constant 1:56 highs to 1:57 lows I lose up to 2 seconds each lap.
That's why I always end up 30-50 seconds behind them in the end of the race.

Thats weird.
In my plays the best lap done by AI was 1.55:9xx. And thats a rare ocasion because most of their best laps were arround 1:56:xxx.
And I did with 4 diferent cars and ai behavior was mostly similar.

Can you post a screenshot 5 laps in, say, to show the race situation and your first 5 lap times? It sounds very odd, I've never seen anyone post a race result where the AI completed more than 30 laps.

Perseverance pays off! I don't think I'd have it in me to do it three times. Would be much more motivated to try them over and over if there was a payout each time... but that's another topic all together.
Not having a go at you because everyone is different but I never think of the payout, for me it is all about the challenge.

I have tried at least 10 tines using different setups and am still a fair way from cracking it, but I will keep on plugging away. Sone of the CE Golds took me days, I’m a very determined person! 😂

Right lads. I have been trying this every day for about 3 weeks now. I have used almost every Gr3 car too. 😂

I drove the race of my life on this one with the RSR and achieved my highest position ever (my previous was 8th.)

I did a 2 stop strategy (lap 11 and 21 I think.) I would appreciate any tips that I can try to make this quicker. I didn’t even make a mistake for the entire race and most laps were 1.57.xxx with a high 1.56 too.

I love the challenge that this particular one throws up but am getting a bit frustrated with it. 🙁

There really is no trick to this event and it comes down to how good you are with the car you want to drive.
I have done this with different cars, but I desperatly need to avoid Ferrari and Ford GT, I just dont keep them on track.
My personal favourite is the Jaguar there.

2 things to consider:
1. no need to be fair, the AI on that track is poor and there is no clean racing bonus. It may or may not help you, though hard dive bombing doesnt make you faster ;)

2. there are 2 turns in which the AI will always make the same mistakes when it attempts to gain a position. You likely have already seen it, turn 1 and the banked right after long downhill. In both cases the AI will try to take the inner line and go wide at the end of the turn.

Hey. Many thanks for the tips!

Yes the amount of times the AI has punted me out of the race (usually later on in the race too 🙄) I show them zero respect.

I see what you mean about the mistakes especially on the banked turn. The BMW seems to go off quite a bit there.

I’ll keep on plugging away! 😀

As said before I have tried all manner of cars and it seems that I am most consistent with the RSR.

If memory serves me correct, you have to short-shift in the RSR - at the top of the power curve - it makes a massive difference.
Due the random nature of the AI, it can be won with a time of 1:00:24 - so it is just a matter of getting the right race where the AI are a little slower overall.

Thanks buddy!

I can't do manual but that last time of mine was 1:00:21:866 so I'm in the right area. :-)

I haven't tried this race yet, but after my experience at Sardegna in the Gr.3 cars, there's 5 cars I'd be choosing between:

Aston Martin DBR9
Chevrolet Corvette
Jaguar F-Type
Mazda RX-VISION
Subaru BRZ GT300

All tend to be rapid and good with fuel.
