I won in the RSR using auto gears so it is definitely possible. Did have to resort to some heavy blocking on the last lap to hold off Gallo's NSX.

Absolutely spot-on buddy! Nailed it there. :P

So after 3 plus weeks I finally did it!

What I always find with these challenges is that you initially look at it and think that it’s never going to be possible but with tons of practice and a fair amount of dedication it is possible. So for any that are typing in this thread “I will never gold this” don’t give up!

The only thing left for me now is CE at the Nordschleife (Full race, have golded the individual segments.) That one is going to be a really tough one I think.

As for tactics with this race in the RSR I used a 2 stop strategy on RM.
Fuel map 1 all the way.
Pitted at the end of laps 13 (fuel to 10.1) and 23 (fuel to 8.1 although as I only did 30 laps you may get away with 7.1)
Go nuts at the beginning to try and get to at least P3 by the end of lap 1.

I didn’t think I would say this but even though it took me weeks I really enjoyed this one. It’s such a great feeling when you are 100% on-song with the car and it all comes together beautifully for an entire hour. :)

And as Fezzik says watch that final lap as Gallo catches up real quick!! I was lucky as he only really caught up on the second last bend so with some careful positioning was relatively easy to keep at bay.
As per your previous screenshots, this is different every time you start the event. There is no particular order in which the AI will finish, nor is the time anywhere close to the same. With this in mind, it can be a bit of luck to win if you are very close.

Actually that is a very good point well made. I have edited that part out of my summary to avoid any confusion. Many thanks for highlighting this.

It's a really good race, as are many of the other mission races. The game would be so much better if we could earn credits by doing them again. I just haven't played the game much since they made the brake checking AI at Tokyo cause the loss of the clean race bonus. Sardegna is okay but so much more limited as to which cars can do well, and anything decent for it is going to cost more than you get for winning the race, so you don't increase your credits by buying a new car to try for it if you only do the race once with each car.

I just lost to 100:08.8 less then 30 seconds back in 6th so I didn’t even get the silver bonus, and because I’d already achieved bronze it was a waste of an hour, wish I had your leader, I’d have won mine!

Has anyone managed to win this yet, and if so, in what car and with what strategy?

My best so far is 2nd in the Corvette, with a RH 1 stop.

The winner was the M6 '16 with 30 laps 1:00:56, and I was 12 seconds back. I suppose that's only 0.4 seconds per lap, which is definitely achievable by simply getting better at driving it. I tried the RX-Vision GT3 Concept before the Corvette, but I'd say the Corvette was a little bit better.

Nobody on my friends list has won it yet.

The times have got a lot faster with game updates. The AI is faster, but humans are also able to go much faster, I've done it over 80 seconds faster now than when I started this thread. My fastest time now is 59:34 with the Porsche:

Give the Porsche a try! A lot of it is also about just learning the track and getting better at every single corner.

I noticed after I signed up that yours was the oldest of the thread. I saw more recently people suggesting the Porsche so I bought it and put in a few laps last night, was consistently in the 1:57-1:58’s where my best run before had one 1:56 in the Puegot RCZ but my average there was more like 1:58-1:59 with the odd 1:57. I’m hoping to complete it tonight with the Porsche as the lap times seemed much better, faster on the straights but tougher in the corners than the rcz, really had to focus on exit speed and carrying less speed through the corners than I was used to with the rcz

I run Le Mans for money, clean race there seems to be busted so you get it regardless which helps, over 800k per run

9.5 seconds behind, had about 6 straight laps in the 1:56’s in the middle stint but couldn’t do better than 1:57’s in the first and third, with 1:58’59’s and a 2:00 in there to boot, hate this track and this race, but going to keep at it, this and deep forest are the only two human comedy I can’t gold (mind you I’m usually picking up 30 seconds to 1 minute worth of penalties at deep forest and I can’t figure out how I’m getting ANY of them!)

Just attempted Maggiore 6 more times in the Porsche and spun on the first or second lap out of 4th each time, before realizing on the last attempt it defaulted me back to Racing Hard not Mediums, that explains a lot

Nothing like being comfortably in the lead on your in lap and spinning it out of turn 2 the first right hander and losing 11.5 seconds … I’ve probably just screwed myself, but seeing as every other lap is way faster than all my previous attempts and the in lap was only 3 seconds slower than last attempt here’s fingers crossed the 10th full run is the charm (probably abandoned 10-15 attempts from 4-25 minutes in also)

Edit: Can’t believe it, squeaked out the win by 2.4 seconds at 1:00:13.857, finally done with this and on to Deep Forest

I think meanwhile I have all the gr3 cars and spent so much time finding something that is fast, consistent en keeps that way for many laps... some cars seem to be good for 2 laps and after that it gets worse and worse.

I had a couple of trial with the lexus RC F GT3 '17 car. I gave it a go earlier today. managed to get 1:58 without any slower laps and now and then a 1:57. Leading place pitting 1st time. Leading when pitting 2nd time. I got very agressively rammed off the track by Wong in my out-lap (Mother *******:banghead::banghead::banghead:). didn't see anybody passing me. I caught him after 1 lap and continued my similar times. ended 9th right behind the porsche... what a bummer. Would I have won without that crash... I guess I'll never know....

I try to be smooth but I think you need a steering wheel for this. the PS5 controler is probably not the most precise.

by the way. how on earth are you guys doing 1:55 or 1:56... I see youtubers living of racegames getting slower times...

I practised yesterday with manually shifting. First did it as training in the world map so I could just try and set times without any other cars around me. I had a couple 1:57 after 3 or 4 laps. But also some horrible 2:00 ones.
At the same time the car is not restricted in the training mode on weight or power.

So I tried it in the human comedy race. looking at the laptimes, I'm slower but somehow it feels quicker. I feel less vibration in the controller which would mean I am nog oversteering or spinning as much but at the same time I am probably braking too much on the engine when downshifting. It just helps to keep the car on the inside of the turns... However a corner taken good, does seem to give me more speed advantage than it did with the automatic gears looking how I close the gap to the car in front of me. Going consistent with it and faster is going to take many more attempts... not so easy...

edit: added balast and restricted the power to be able to compare to the challenge restrictions. I managed 1 lap 1:56:02 so it really is possible to be quicker with manual shifting if I manage to do it so fast. I'm not that good and been trying on automatic for long time to reach 1:57:00 or lower. I'm now looking for the right moment to shift and what gears to use on certain turns. for instance I have trouble taking the double left-right combination (not the first corners but the ones after the first long straight) with manual shifting, while it was much easier with automatic, even flat out... the very first corner is also difficult not to end up on the grass...

I don't remember when was the last time couldn't win a race in this game, what is the deal with this one? Is it something with the update thats making it impossible or Im I getting old ? 😅

Still possible, though the AI Supra seems pretty fast now, but loses time for doing an extra stop instead.
Lap times have become slower a bit.

I tried som many times and the best I maneged to get is second place on the first lap and then the supra just leaves me behind. After some time comes the blue bmw and punts me out every time, I broke the coffee table out of rage and Im now truly afraid to try anyone...

Fresh attempt, not as big of a lead as with the previous version, but not to worry about being 2nd.

I'm shocked. I'm watching Youtube video and it's recommended to use Peugeot RCZ gr3. My best lap is 2:00, and AI common laps 1:57-1:58. Even with new tires (race normal) AI faster then me on the lines.
It seems like this Mission is created for users who can get Gold for Race expirience, and I can get only bronze.
It's pitty, cos I have got gold almost everywhere in GT Sport. And I can't get even 15th place in this Mission. Is it normal? I don't understand it. I'm not a great racer, but not the worst. I think that difficulty should fit for the most of users, not for the fasters 10-20%

I just did this mission and exactly the same as you I went with what is commonly recommended the RCZ and I was flat out on every lap and my best was a 2,00.15 loosing seconds to the leader on every lap. I ended 15th behind the winner lapping me in the M6 Endurance. On the medium race tyres I massively over steer so loose so much time in the corners compensating. One guy here said try the AMG but there are two AMG's one is a 2011 and the other is a 15 ir 16 so didn't know which to buy. Another said he did it in his Jag F-type both of which id have to buy. Feels like I've constantly to spend 450,000 for every mission and sometimes only to win a few thousand.

I am halfway through the cars on this version
Currently only 3 (both Audi and the Lambo) I didnt manage to finish at all, they are eating tyres too fast.
And only once did I not win, which was the Ford GT LM Spec II Test Car
Other players definitly are faster than me, and maybe some cars just dont fit my skills, but other cars were comparitively fast and others really slow.

The fastest AI time I have seen would have betten me quite often.
But there are ways to keep Rubilar behind, the AI will overcommit, and when you force it a few times, it will make him force to take an early pit and maybe an extra pit. See videos below.

In the RCZ im getting massive understeer so the corners are so painful. As a result the tyres are go and I've no grip within 6 to 7 laps. I struggled to finish 15th so I was thinking to try something like my Ford GT LM or Corvette, maybe the RCZ is not a great car for my driving style?

Just have a look at the list and decide if any of the cars you already own could propably be good enough.
If you suffer from understeer I guess this will carry throughout all of the cars for either going in a little to fast or trying to step on the gas a bit to early. And stick to racing mediums.

Besides raw performance and consistency, fuel economy should no be forgotten.
I had a try with the M6 (2 stop on mediums), where thought I was comfortably on the way to a win until Gallo made his last pitstop and surprisingly came out seconds ahead of me. (I was leading before we both stopped.)
After I finished second with a 1 second gap, I had a look at the replay and realized he had far more fuel left at the pitstops and therefore had faster stop. (Refueling is painfully slow.)

I think the car I finally did it with was the 911 RSR.

I'm in the RSR now and I'm doing no better. End of 1st lap i was 8th and the leader was 14 seconds ahead. I'm just coming to the end of lap 10 with the tyres RM almost completely gone and I got rammed by Gallo on lap 8 so now I'm running 13th ffs. The leader is now 46.722 ahead so looks like I'm wasting my time again 😒 so annoyed. Not sure the RSR suits me either or maybe its this track 🤔 best lap I could get so far was a 2:00.995. I'm going to fill the tank and put RH on and just see how I get on. Not holding my hopes that I'll get any higher then I am. The AI race pace of cars around me is so unrealistic.

Practice is the missing link.
Something that needs you to recognize where you are losing time.

I tried with
34/44 done (list above)
29 wins
2 losses (1 of those potentially avoidable to me and one I dont see possible)
3 did not finish

2 cars of the winnirs were able to do a 1 stop on racing mediums, whether this is actually much faster than 2 stops I havent tested yet.

We had the same day on the same track!!
Don't worry, I've ended 13th today with the Mazda RX-Vision GT3. I had only few laps below 2:00:00, which is not enough to expect silver or more.
Tomorrow, I'll try the RSR but mainly, I know I must improve my driving skills by being faster in curves.

Hahaha, well I drove the **** today out of a Mazda RX-Vision GT3 today and no matter what I did I could only manage 2:00.559 best lap, most average was around 2:05.00 the Mazda was actually better to drive unlike the Porsche and Peugeot which both felt like they didn't want to turn but simply I was not fast enough. First stint was good on RH made it to lap 12 but after the first pit stop taking so long to fuel up I came out 18th and pushed for next two stints to finish 15th. I seen someone said try the Corvette C6 which I already own. Tried the M6 today sprint model finished 16th. Constantly beat by the M6 endurance model but I can't spend another 450,000 already brought 3 cars trying this mission. I'll let you know how I go in the Corvette.

You really will have to find pace. If I remember correctly, you need to lap between 1:56 and 1:57 for the RM 2-stop.

Thats the "old" version, with the current speed 1:58 is enough (depending on the time spend in the pits).
AI total lap time most often is slower than 1h50s
Assuming a first lap of 2:08 and 2 pit laps of 2:40, you would have 1:58,5 to be faster than this total time, though this isnt a guaranteed win.
But baiting the AI into overcommiting (both videos a few comments earlier) will result in an early pit for them or in extreme cases even an additional pit.

Phased back into GT7 on a break from other games and jumped on these endurance races like a shot. I managed to gold most first time out and only a couple forced one re-take… however….. this one is a total pain in the ass….

I prefer oversteer massively in these gr3 cars and this track is a total tyre muncher so I’ve been trying the Peugeot out (lunches front tyres, understeers like a mofo) and I’ve gone through the corvette, Mazda vison, Audi so far and even balls out I cannot lap below 1:59 in anything.

I read the recent updates affected handling so I’m not sure if it’s me just not being used to it or what but it feels strange the other races were so easy yet this is mega ….

Will keep plodding on, RSR next and then I’ll have to try and buy a grippy as **** , less understeery car and blast it…

To me the Subaru BRZ felt like the best car in terms of cornering, with no real downside to brag about.
It just isnt as fast on the straights as the actually fast cars and stays with the same average as most of the lot.
Most of them will reach around 260km/h without draft and 270km/h with draft, the fast ones add +10km/h.
