They really need to incorporate some additional off-track features. With the unlikely appearance of a livery editor, the car modification features really need to be comprehensive now.

If there is no livery editor in GT6 there's going to be some pretty disappointing sales numbers when everyone jumps over to the new Forza on the next gen system. Die-hard "buy GT no matter what" fans are dwindling.

I have the sneaking suspicion that by "comprehensive" you really mean "satisfactorily complete". Which means nothing more than "good enough for me".

I'd really like it if it were comprehensive, mind you, I just have no such expectation.

Yep you're right. I just want stuff to do off-track. Designing liveries and a good range of rear wings (not just 3) body kits and wheels. Sometimes my love of cars extends beyond just always racing.

You'd think that at the end of the life cycle of the PS3 they would have got the message by now :indiff:

The biggest numbers of this specific genre differ.

To be honest I think that the majority of racing game buyers are getting quite excited by the detailed new physics, the immense graphical quality, and the exciting new tracks, rather than writing it off as a failure because of a lack of livery customization.

I'm not saying that the lack of a livery editor isn't poor on PD's part, but I feel that with the leaps they've taken with car physics (which is what it's all about ultimately) among other things, this will be a huge GT installment for gamers and the company.

It's not because of kaz it's because the PS3 CANNOT HANDLE IT!

But it is because of Kaz, Everybody knows GT is his baby and he wants you to play it how he wants, The series lost its fun and went stale long ago i.e when GT5 failed to deliver, I was intending to get GT6 on release day but if nothing is mentioned r.e a livery creator then I personally will wait and get it cheap next year, Why give the money to PD when they fail to deliver what 1) A vast majority of people want, 2) Still use last gen models, 3) Cant even see what the present and future of racing games is, Rival companies are publishing games that put GT back in the pit lane.

Next time you see a real life racing car without a livery that lasts a full season let me know :)

If there is no livery editor then I'm pretty fed up with Kaz's old school mentality. Get with the times you old man!

Disrespectful.

Also, since when did the inclusion of a livery editor make a driving game in tune with the times? Perhaps PD don't feel it has much of a place in the GT series, and to be honest I don't think it does either. Expressing ones self is fine, but just imagine driving around online and what kind of horrendous crap people would put on their cars. With the way GT is presented, both visually and internally, I can't see it happening.

I always thought gameplay, graphics and innovative qualities are what's important, and will achieve far more in terms of progress than a livery editor. Though I will admit, as stated before, an option of 5 or so official pre-made liveries for each car would be nice, such as the Gulf scheme on the GT40.

That'd be fine it wasn't just a driving simulator it claims to be a revolutionary racer. Also even if it was just driving around, some people enjoy vinyl...

When it's a common feature in its competitors. Would you say having online functionality is in tune with the time?

This sort of argument crops up fairly often "it's not in the spirit of GT, etc etc", but I'd like to know; what is?

You've said this before, so I'll offer the same responses that have been repeated ad nauseum;

  • We can already make some atrocious combinations with the paint chip system.
  • Playing online in other racing games for untold hours has shown far more good than bad.
  • A Report feature, much like LBP or MNR, could be implemented.
  • As always, a simple "Disable Custom Liveries" checkbox in the options menu could protect those who prefer identi-cars.

I always thought gameplay, graphics and innovative qualities are what's important, and will achieve far more in terms of progress than a livery editor.

And a livery editor affects all three of those.

You'd rather PD spend untold hours creating liveries (delaying... who knows what) than allowing the community to create nearly anything? I suppose it'd keep the offensive stuff out...

That's like saying mass public online racing in GT should be excluded due to the amount of noobs and poor drivers out there.

Just don't race with the naff liveries like you choose to avoid rooms with noob racers.

Also how are visuals that may be deemed "bad" (such a cop-out by you carlthesloth), any different from the tons of players on open lobbies that curse or talk about nasty things. I could go all week telling you of some of the disgusting things I've heard.

The idea of joining GTP carl goes beyond defending PD an excusing them for their lazy approach to game building. This is also a place to join groups and drive or race, drift, time trial whatever you want and have such a vast variety that the issue or obscene liveries shouldn't be an issue for you.

Thanks, PD! For putting livery designs on the race mods and chromeline/15th anniversary cars...

No, no....why would we want that feature to ourselves?

It's definitely a disappointment. Who knows...maybe GT7. :indiff:

Err... what's so bad about those "Monster" cars? Too black and fluorescent yellow or something? What about these?

I have a feeling this would be a common sight if we had a livery editor.

No. Just no.

Who cares? Honestly. Sure that theme has been done to death, but what about new cars getting the Gulf livery? Martini Racing? Lotus black-and-gold? And if you didn't like seeing these liveries, PD could very well implement an option that allowed you to not view custom liveries.

No livery maker does not make PD's approach to building a game "lazy". Just an aspect people want to see. No one knows the reason it hasn't appeared, but for the sake of making everyone happy all we can do is hope it changes, or continue to express your desire to have one in GT.

We've been doing it long enough, as has been explained through various threads it is a trend that is seen from PD. Hence why many people on GTP use it to phrase PD, perhaps you can give an argument rather than the holding hands and making s'mores route to why PD have yet to implement it?

Maybe the same reason they don't want to give quality sounds or true damage models?

What're you talking about? Do you or does anyone know the reason why they have not implemented a livery creator? When you do then you can make the claim of them being "lazy". I don't know what the problem is you have with no livery editor, but I only said you can't call a game maker lazy for not including something. Even if it is a huge talking point like making liveries. There are other racing games that don't even have modeled interiors. We shouldn't say they're lazy developers because a feature in other games is not in their game. And no, I don't condone PD's every decision. I had games with livery editors and agree its an awesome feature GT should have.
