PD is working on the livery editor, they said they will talk about it at TGS 2013, What do you think? deja vu from 2006 or this time it will actually be in the game?

I suspect deja vu from 2006 at TGS unless they're actually serious this time. You never know what will come out from PD.

Based on the return of paint chips, the existence of exclusive liveries and the admission that there won't be a "full" editor, I'm thinking GT6 might contain something along the lines of the iRacing livery editor.

Basically, you choose the design from a number of templates, choose three colours (or in this case, paint chips), hack on a few game-supplied stickers, select a race number and off ya go. It's not great, but it's better than nothing. And if the templates are well-thought out, it would make GT6 racing grids look pretty good.

I would be 100% content with that because even when I played FM1-4, I rarely touched the livery editor.

I would use it... But mainly what I want a livery editor for is so I can make my cars look unique, the way I want and to put some signs of my car club on them. Or, whatever.

:(... I really had a big hope for a full livery editor, like in Forza... but I am not very good at English, so I am not sure if I understood right, but I think translator-san said that there won't be a full livery editor :odd:... One of my saddest days this month :indiff: :(

May somebody tell me what he really said?:)

You basically understood right. He did say there will probably not be a full livery editor, however there will be a simple one.

Just wait to TGS dude we'll see.

What he said bud. :)

Yeah this will do just fine. :D

Fortunately, at this point, ANY livery editor is good. I do hope we see an extensive one in the future....a la PS4.

What bothers me the most, and I'm sure many of you will agree, is that Kazunori and the PD staff allow us to modify a lot of things: weather conditions. How unpredictable the weather will be. How wet the track surface will be. How quickly daylight/time progresses throughout a race. The starting time, in hours and minutes, that a race can start. How many players can be in an online room. The extent that damage can affect our cars mechanically. Or visually. The level of boost. The slipstream strength. ETC, ETC.

And yet, we cannot put a stripe on our cars. Not one. Not two. But PD has no problem putting them on special cars for us. Worst of all, the cars are the stars of the game. The cars. The vehicles. The things with wheels that have captured our imagination since youth. And somehow they're the least thing we can tinker with it seems (outside of some rims and a few added aero parts). It's got to change. I'm skeptically hopeful.

I do wish kaz would go for the livery editor. I would probably play GT6 forever if it had it.

Well, here's a car in GT5 at the moment; the Nissan Skyline R33 TC.

With a livery editor, I would make these out of that one car:

Agree, I think the dumbest part was not being able to color the stripes on cars that had them.

So......just 1 week till Kaz reveals more information on the livery editor.

What will be revealed at the Tokyo Game Show (September 19th). ?

Hopefully something more solid than "we are working on it" !

So...I was playing rFactor 2 today with the Megane Trophy car...went to ISI Forums (official rFactor site) and went straight to the "livery thread"...found a japanese guy who made this...(my pictures)

Yup..."we DON´T need a livery editor..."

(I asked the guy to make the Nissan GT-R and Corvette C6 liveries as well since we have both cars in rF2)

PS: Judging by what you can do and by how PD does things...if they give us "special" cars with liveries...will it be possible to have a livery editor in the game?...I mean, if you can do exactly the same thing as they offer?
Imagine how not so special the anniversary cars will be if we get a livery editor and can make the same thing in our cars.

By that logic I think we won´t be getting a livery editor...maybe some kind of weird "paint chip" system again. Or decals at best.

A basic livery editor?

At this point in the GT series any sort of livery editor would be fine...

I'd be careful with that. Some people consider being able to change the colour via paint chips in GT5 to be a livery editor...:yuck::yuck:

...who said that? Exactly, where?

I agree that paint chip repainting =/= livery editor, but sometimes you have to take compromise by game mechanics. Look at some racing leagues using road cars. ;)

A basic editor could be a twofold thing:

a) A paint shop where we can choose from colors without having to use a limited supply paint chips. Go ahead and charge me for painting the car. If I can get past the paint chip limits, then I'll be happy.

Note: We know paint chips will be used, however. I'd be okay with them allowing us to match specific manufacturer colors. Even if we had an RGB value selector, it could be hard to get the codes we need.

b) There would also need to be some decals that can be applied. Some basic shapes, numbers and stripe types would be enough. A number of manufacturer decals would be great. We've seen quite a few names all over the courses and the race cars, so they're definitely licensed for use in the game. Let's have the option to put them on our own cars too.

Note: The 'smart' racing number plates used on the RM cars were very impressive, imho. Would it be possible to put them on other cars? People spend quite a bit of time in other livery editors making static number plates from scratch, starting with basic shapes. Having one that is already made and with an adjustable number and font style would be amazing.

That sounds pretty good and its probably not even that complicated to program it into the game. But when Kaz says basic he could mean literally anything...

Yes... I totally agree with this !! 👍

Hi, I am writing here to re-float the thread, and also to ask you if there is something new about the livery editor that we want...

I think there wasn't any info about it at the TGS, am I rigth?
