The only relevant scrap of information from TGS came from the GTP interview with Kaz.

GTP: As you know, people discovered ways to modify the game data in GT5, and it became a very popular thing. Did you learn anything from that, in terms of how people were customizing their cars? Has it had any impact to your view on game design moving forward?

Kaz: “We knew from GT1 that players and users have a strong need and desire to modify their cars, and it was just kind of a re-confirmation of that fact, and in GT6, we’ll have a lot more car customization options for the game.

Kaz: “I was even thinking about providing something like a ‘Pro’ version of Gran Turismo, like a ‘Gran Turismo Pro’, so that you can really get into detail with the car customization process.”

GTP: I think that would be very popular!

Kaz: “Yes, I’d like to get it to a point where you can make your own custom cars. The issue is that would be really complex to do, but it is something I really want to do, to make a professional version of Gran Turismo.”

--Side note: During E3 2013, we saw pictures of rims in various sizes. So, tire selection and rim size will likely increase. But for me, the best customization is a livery editor.

Pro version huh?
And it will obviously cost arond 150 euros.
Jesus why not just make a normal game that will have the same functions for people who can't afford paying 150 euros for a game and a steering wheel for 150 and some other **** that's expensive. I don't understand why not make it as it was before in the times of GT4. Nothing just GT4, everything there and no advantages for rich pricks like getting ultimate 900MPH cars with so much downforce it can take the Corkscrew in Laguna seca at 400KMH..
Also to the livery editor. When you say that people will have bad decals like dicks. It would not happen because I remember in Forza I made a decal "No free rides, gas or ass" I got banned for a month for using inappropirate words and decals.

Careful with the language fella....or you might suffer the same fate here..

Well, here's a car in GT5 at the moment; the Nissan Skyline R33 TC.

With a livery editor, I would make these out of that one car:

On a side note, I love that PD essentially copied an existing race car and called it their own creation.

My neighbor has the same decal on his Civic Si! XP

At least he confessed.

Gran Turismo Pro, with livery editor that let me import .png files from USB, lots of race cars, better sounds, competitive AI, custom events, and solid online?
150 euros? I'll gladly pay 250 for that.

Not joking.

me too 👍

Yeah but I have just been fired and have only 50k left for my company that I collected throught these years, and I need 100k more so I can't really spend thet money, not even for GT6. I have to pay 1600 euros a month for the house, car tax, water, electricity, etc. And I have 150 left for food/ petrol and 200 for the company.
I mean it should be already in the stock version and not give the superiority to rich people.
At least not in games.

I'm glad he finally came out and said it, he should have ages ago. For me it was quite hypocritical to give GT awards at SEMA or Pebble Beach to highly modified individualized cars and not allow that same implementation for the virtual side. As if we don't know what we want are cars to look like, or have to have someone pick already customized cars for us.

As much as I'll occasionally say "meh, we don't need it", I do remember how much time I spent doing it in that other game, and how neat it felt to have a car that was truly mine driving around. Made the replays a lot more fun, because the car actually stood out, especially if you were replicating an existing car.

So yeah, we definitely need this. But I have a feeling that "extra customization" to Kaz just means more rims, spoilers, and ground effects. Hopefully he'll at least give us completely control over the paint job. I don't want to have to "unlock" paint chips, either... just give me a color wheel.

So is the R32. I prefer these Touring Cars as opposed to their real counterparts because we can paint these, PD probably wouldn't allow us to paint the real counterparts.

Same here! If I were to ever start a GT500/GT300 series (which I probably never will), I would use these cars instead of the real ones because they are more personal, you can designate your car number, and you can create your own "teams" by having matching colors.

The comments above about the touring cars now for some reason make me want a few more custom Gran Turismo touring cars. That and I kinda liked the custom race cars that PD made in the past. If PD adds any more of their TCs, I hope the next one is a Toyota Supra MK. IV that looks similar to the castrol supra GT '96 from GT1 & 2.

Well yes you're right. Should be in the vanilla game.

So, about 5 weeks out and we still haven't heard if there will be anything in the game that resembles a livery editor.

Like most of you now, i am resigned to the fact there wont be one, even though the majority of us here, in 37 pages and over 1000 posts want one.

Just hoping the game makes up for it in other areas.

/:(

We can only hope for a better online mode and a longer off-line mode...

Livery editor??? I think it's not going to happen...

Fair enough there's no auction house or store front to sell your car creations through, but I can't believe there's not even a basic livery editor. Such a massive fail. Even with 8 years of development throughout GT5 and GT6 this fundamental feature is still missing. I'm stunned.

Ooh, let's make the stars pretty! Cos that's what the game needed!

On GT7, you would stop your car at Mulsanne straight, get ou of the car, lay out on the tarmac and gaze upon the stars.

I wonder if PD will use the same old tired excuse for the lack of a livery editor: "We want people to focus on the beauty of the cars"

I have about as many customization options for painting a car in GT6 as I do coloring a tank in Battlefield 4.

Nevertheless... These are some exciting times indeed!

Exciting that, so far as the official site tells us, we have the exact same number of painting options as we did in GT5, nothing more?

Unless PD is really holding this back as their final ace in the hole (doubtful given the massive info dump yesterday), there's no livery editor.
