thats a lot of restricting, but i'm guessing lightweight body mods and increased effeciency of the engine and exhaust system make it faster than the stock car.

I would agree that Long Beach is one of the coolest street courses. But the "old" Long Beach layout. The one pre- 1995.

The same for Vancouver and Toronto Street courses. The tracks were amazing. Why CART had to change them?

PS: Don't forget Detroit road track at that park.

This year sucks. Theres like only a few 350Z's competing as it's their 1st proper year, half a dozen Supra's, a few NSX's and one Ferrari. Only 4 different types of car so far. I think the GT300 is more interesting now.

There were only 3 Skyline GT-Rs the years before. All the teams that used to run Skylines now run Fairlady Zs, so there's no difference in the number of Nissans. And the Supra has always been the dominate car.

JLOC will be returning in the next race with a Murcielago R-GT s well, so GT500 really isn't that different at all.

Well over the last few years the GT500 has been deteriorating then.

Thats good to hear about the Murcielago's though.

The next race of the championship is next weekend, so this is why I'm updating this thread. The Sugo Circuit in BEAUTIFUL (no, it really is lovely) Miyagi Prefecture will play host to Round 2 of the championship. Meanwhile, the photo album appears to be ready on the JGTC official site. So check that out and see some of the new faces for this year. Anyhow, May 23rd, Round 2 of the JGTC Championship. After that, the next race isn't until June 19th at the Sepang Circuit in Sepang, Malaysia.

As a late update to this topic, the JGTC will have two All-Star races in China and in the USA. The United States race has its own special website. And of course, round 2 of the JGTC was LONG over with Round 3 to take place a week after the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Check out this site for the race to be run December 17-19 this year:

Now to the racing action from Sugo, and if you love Toyota, you would have loved this race. Congratulations to Round 2 winners:

GT500 WINNERS: #38 Team AU Cerumo Toyota Supra
Yuji Tachikawa/Seiji Ara

GT300 WINNERS: #19 Wedsport Toyota Celica
Takayuki Aoki/Nobuteru Tanuguchi

Next round in Malayasia. See you then, June 19!

The Viper was unable to compete real well because it was not factory backed. All the teams in GT500 that do well are all Nissan, Toyota, or Honda factory teams, with the exception of the McLarens who aren't true factory teams.

I don't want to do this, but i'm about to catch you on something.

The 2 McLarens and the Nomad Lamborghini Diablo..

Did they switich to a Murcielago yet? I think they did, i'm not sure.

I purposly left out the Lamborghini merely because they never did do well. The McLarens actually won races and got poles, the Lamborghini usually never finished.

The SOK McLaren dropped out at the end of the 2002 season. The Yellow Corn McLaren dropped out at the end of the 2003 season. JLOC had their new Lamborghini Murcielago RGT-1 at the 2nd round of the JGTC season but did not participate due to lack of spare parts (they had only received the car a few days before). There was a rumor of a 2nd team entering another Murcielago R-GT, but they haven't shown up.

Round 4 Winners (from July 18th, 2004):
GT500: Masami Kageyama/Michael Krumm; Motul Pitwork Z/350Z
GT350: Shinichi Takagi/Morio Nitta; ARTA Garaiya

Sorry I haven't been updating this thread with JGTC information, but this race took place on Japan's Hokkaido Island. To the rest of us, that means the island north of Honshu. I best know Hokkaido for the lovely city of Saporro. I take a look at the JGTC 350Zs/Fairlady Zs, and at times, I confuse the car for the Mugen/Dome NSX. The 350Z/Fairlady Z kind of has headlights like the latest Toyota Celica. About the worst case of Celica-style headlights has been this Honda/Acura NSX converted with Celica headlights. It was a rather distasteful tuner mod.

Anyhow, the next race should be next month. Here's the rest of the schedule from Post #26:

September 5: Twin Ring Motegi- Road Course (R5)
Motegi-Cho, Japan

October 31: Autopolis (R6)
Oita, Japan (?)

November 21: Suzuka Circuit (R7)
Suzuka-Shi, Mie Prefecture, Japan

Motegi, get ready for JGTC action in three weeks time! And again, I apologize for not updating.
