What did you do in GT7 today?

Since moving to PSVR2, my GT7 days are totally different.

The immersion of sitting IN my cars compels me to try car after car, simply finding any event just to experience the interiors. It also means that I'm tending to work my way through the slower cars which provide more time to look around.

My garage has an incredible number of cars I have never driven, and this is being corrected.

I have no idea if I'm driving any faster, however that doesn't matter in the slightest. I've always loved driving, and now I do more of it.

Last night I bought 3 lime green Plymouth Superbirds. One meant to remain stock, one for tuning its default engine and another for an engine swapp experiment.

Also, I test drove some super? hyper cars? I don't know for sure what's the correct lingo for cars over 900hps.... Anyways, I tested'em and ended up selling some of those cars in order to keep trimming down my garage to the cars I like better.

The despicable wheel gave me a fully customizable suspension for an old Nissan car I can't remember.

I got my free Hyundai and gave it a livery. Took it to LeMans and I thought it was the worst car ever and drove like a boat. Came back later and instead of trying to drive it like a car, I drove it like a 2 ton SUV. Much better, do I wish PD added the fake gears. I got 500K cr from my extra menu. I took the Merc Evol to Lemans and it was like driving a merry go round. So I took it to Laguna Seca and actually did some tuning to get it right. Got a 10k cr from 4 ⭐ 🎟️ from the daily marathon

Rage quit after 35 attempts to get gold on the Eiger CE. I was able to do it in the first go on my main account, but on my alt I can't seem to get it down.

Thursday night I got a safe gold at the newest online time trial and I don't have plans to come back to it.

Friday morning I finished the whole weekly challenge set of races and the final ticket gave me a Honda Sports VGT which I could sell for almost 700K.

Besides that I started tuning a Vette C4 and engine swapped the Superbird only to realize that wasn't gonna work. Sold it along side another batch of cars that were just collecting dust.

Driving experience wise, I'm still surprised that I actually like the Hyundai Ioniq and also surprised how cool the Volvo 240 wagon I used in the weeklies really is.

I tried the AFEELA Prototype for a couple of weekly challenges and it actually felt pretty good for what it is.

Currently trying to get gold in Master A-4 (Ferrari F12 at Tokyo Expressway) but I just cannot get it done. Gold is 27.380, my best time is 27.803. I’m using the controller.

Ran out a few practice races for the GTWS Daytona. Then paced my way up to a 1:46 lap time. (Twice. If you run a series of laps, hit exit! Restart will not save your fast lap!-Yes, I knew. Hazard of :banghead: and age.) Anyway, I followed the fastest Viper as a 👻. 1:49 to 1:46 over a few hours. I'll take it.

After getting the PSN services and connection restored I uploaded my lap from the current online time trial.

Then I drove my Porsche 911 (930) around the Nurburgring.

A stupid 3 stars ticket gave me 10k for my time.

Mostly focused on Free Run stuff today. I wasn't really keeping track of lap times, just going over a range of cars and just trying to adapt to them quickly and have fun.

It seems like scrolling through the car selection menu makes it very likely to crash right now. Had it happen twice, so I ended my session.

...also jamming out for better laptimes:
Jacques Greene - Let Go; Drop Location; For Love (JD Twitch Remix); Whenever (CFCF Remix); Nordschleife
MXOWMANE - WRC RADIO VOL. 1 & 2

Nurburgring Nordshcleife (Daytime)

Mazda Eunos Roadster (NA) '89
Nissan Fairlady 240Z (HS30) '71
Ford Roadster
DS AUTOMOBILES DS 3 Racing '11
Mercedes 190 E 2.5-16 Evo II '91

Tokyo Expressway - Central (Nighttime)
Nissan Fairlady Z 300ZX TT 2seater '89
Corvette ZR-1 (C4) '89

Suzuka GP, Sardegna - Road Track - A
Ferrari 365 GTB4 '71

The DS 3 was really surprising and fun to drive. I don't know if it is the physics update, but its very responsive compared to how I was expecting FFs to handle. The Ferrari on the other hand, didn't like being told what to do. Being impatient and having sloppy pedalwork is going to make the car kick you in the teeth, so you have to slowly tease out the laptimes. It's a lesson in pushing the car while trying to stay calm.

Played Skyrim instead while I waited in vain for the PS App to tell me that PSN was up and running again. I guess a 24 hour outage is not sufficiently serious enough to, you know, "communicate".

Also, I was reading the Wikipedia entry on the Mt Panorama racing circuit and in the description of Mountain Straight it says “In the days before modern aerodynamics, drivers would have to lift off the throttle to prevent becoming airborne over the crest halfway up the straight.” Then adds “citation needed”.

Just 2 or 3 days ago, I had this experience. Would that count as "a citation"?

What a terrible car to drive, brakes like an oil tanker made of cinder blocks. Fake engine sound but no fake gear shifts, why one but not the other? The fake gear shifts may have actually helped to make it less terrible to drive.

It has a CVT transmission rather than an Automatic transmission so it technically never changes gear where as a Slush box/PDK/Dual Clutch (in automatic mode) all have "gears"

Oh I know, but the real car has fake gear changes to go with the fake engine noise, to make it a little more fun to drive. That’s all, they are totally fake.

Completely agree. I drove it for the weekly challenges and was shocked at how poor it was. Not sure what PD was thinking not one but 2 crossovers in a single update. There are so many better cars they couldve put in. I'm still waiting for PD to add an older Audi rs4 wagon.

I know this is being picky, however the Ioniq 5 N has no gears, and certainly is not a user of CVT technology.

A CVT transmission tries to keep engine revs at a constant rate, which is kind of the opposite of the approach in this, and most other, EVs. So a CVT is actually constantly changing gear ratios when the road speed is varying, and this EV never changes gears.

It depends on the type of CVT system, there aren't gears per'se just for simplicity where a drive belt sits on a cone in some systems.

What it definitely isn't is a dual clutch or fully automatic and the nearest conceptual proxy is CVT you can't command a specific gear as there aren't fixed points to reference in the transmission

I wonder how the real one does it? Or does it just pause the power/throttle for a moment to give the sensation of a shift? 🤔

Edit: A quick search found this.

I'd imagine it's mapped to speed points or rev points to pretend. But honestly I have no idea either.

Edit: "delivers an authentic 8 speed experience"

Fake it till you make it I guess :)
