Thomas Enge one of the great unfulfilled talents of motor racing he had the get so far...

Well they may pick up Enge for the longer races, with Fernandez apparently gone.

Anyone know who will be piloting the ALMS TRG Astons?

Doub't they will do so, don't think any factory team ever will.

Anyways, saw this on the tube and thought I'd share:

It seems he tested positive for a controlled substance at Navarra this past season in GT1(Or 3, whatever we call it today). He claims it was a medication taken for Cardiac issues.

Again!!! Damn it!!! That's the same thing that costed him an F1 career!! Some people never learn, such a shame and a waste of an incredible talent...

Came across THIS earlier while reading about Ferrari using Toyota's wind tunnel exclusively next year for their F1 car. Shows some great pictures of their tunnel and scale models of the early TS030!

Wish it were a bit larger to make out some of the values on the screen!

Despite the high likelihood that LMP2 will continue in 2014, not a single team has confirmed or committed to an ALMS P2 program

Dempsey Racing claims they had their 2013 year sorted, but the merger announcements killed all their agreements, and they now have to secure some sponsorship quickly to get their LMP2 program to Sebring, much less to La Sarthe.

Conquest Endurance is being asked to give their Morgan chassis back to Oak Racing, due to the lack of interest in the P2 market in the States. Additionally, their primary funds (DHH) have moved on to a full-time WEC seat.
To me, this seems silly. Wait until they announce that P2 will be a part of 2014, and I'm sure you'll get SOMEONE who wants to buy one, especially since they regularly out-paced the Level 5 Honda's... They would have a jump on the market, especially since the Oreca isn't even used over here.

Speaking of which, Scott Tucker doesn't want a repeat of 2011, and is unwilling to commit if noone else does.

There is another P2 team which may come to America if their WEC plans don't work out, but the article didn't say who that would be.

Maybe they know something we don't?? Perhaps LMP2 is going bye bye??

Friday can't come soon enough.

They seem to love the delta wing so much, and the delta wing is supposed to fit in with the P2 cars...
Oh wait, this is NASCAR sanctioned. What am I thinking.

That sucks. The LMP1 class in the ALMS had some of the most exciting action this year, including the other classes and the DeltaWing. If the LMP1 were good, what about LMP2?

I'm hoping someone will get in the LMP2 class soon. And what happened to Dyson, Highcroft and the others recently? I'm wondering if they are planning anything for the LMP group.

Highcroft = Deltawing, they took a gamble with the concept and it sold! Nissan is writing their checks now. Dyson is coming back to LMP1, Rebelion is joining the LMP1 party and Muscle Milk is looking for Pettit LMP1 redemption! Seems like afterall LMP1 will be the class to watch!

I'd be willing to bet that Porsche will come over too.

Yup! Same here, just didn't want to mention it because nothing has been officially confirmed...

Which one, the 991 or the P1?

I'm sure someone will get the 991, but I thing Porsche are keeping the P1 for themselves

In the ALMS? I don't see how. This is the last year of the ALMS. The Porsche doesn't come out until next year.

Edit. Something I've just seen. American Class Structure Announcement on Radio Le mans tomorrow 5PM

They said they're going to bring the proto out mid season next year. Just in time for the last ever Petit Le Mans as we know it. That, and Porsche loves racing in America. They will come here for any realistic excuse they can get.

That announcement is early! Can't wait! Might have to skip my Chemistry class to listen. hehe

That's good news for everyone, glad the LMP1s have love here in the States. I wonder if the DeltaWing is actually going to be placed in P2 class or P1. If it's in the P2 class, could it mean a new beginnings to the LMP2 group? 💡

👍

Can't wait to see that LMP from Porsche! They'll be a hit, just like Audi and Nissan with their cars. :D

The Porsche LMP1 will be a 2014 car. How will it be racing in 2013 regulations? When they said it'll make it's debut, they mean that's when the roll-out of the car will take place. Not when it'll be racing. 👍

So Manthey is running a factory-backed pair of 991s in the entire WEC to practice for a 2014 LMP1 effort in... AmLMS?

I don't see any full factory LMP1 efforts in any of the second-tier endurance series in the near future. ELMS and AsLMS have don't have LMP1 (anymore) and should benefit from a more competitive top class, AmLMS should do the same.

Apart from the fact that the p2 class in the NALMS is currently non-Existent

Watching Petit Le Mans, it seemed healthy enough with Level 5, Demsey, Conquest and a few others. But I guess that was misleading with the additional ELMS runners.

I guess that's a problem, just a few cars in each prototype class. :indiff:

You missed the most recent link...

Right now noone has signed up to run P2 this year.

I'm still thinking everyone is waiting on the announcement. Naturally, the GT class will be the only class confirming programs since its been up to now the only one confirmed to stay the way it is.

Then why have Rebellion and Muscle Milk confirmed programs?
