The Le Mans General Discussion Thread

Wish it was a GT3 homologated car! They really need to look into Blancpain or World GT... The Nurb is great and God knows I'm all for the N24 and VLN, but it would be nice to see more of the car. VLN is kind of an unknown series for many people...

@Racecar, Loving the new avatar!! C7.R is going to be a sweet sweet looking car on the merger series!

The N24 is one of the most well known races there is. That's where the LFA will be. It was intended as a GTE car (not GT3) for LeMans (the WEC). Those are the two most well known 24 hour races in existence. So maximum exposure is granted.

Artwork? Official?

Fan render, just imagine this with a Vette badge.

Sorry, but I completely disagree with that. There is no way you can somehow switch badges and no one could tell the difference. Those two are just too polarising in shape to look alike.

Known by us hard core car lovers that look it up on Youtube and every livestream from the most remote corners of the planet just to catch a glance of it!
For the masses and cassual fans, they'll never even know the car exists! LeMans is a whole different animal, it's widely broadcasted trough the world, unlike the N24.

You have a good point, even those who have no interest in racing have heard of Le Mans.

Wardez, great find 👍. I know when I see John Sibal's works of art, always mind-blowing in many ways.

That C7.R is just perfect, but now what if they do more of a widebody similar to the C6.Rs on the new Corvette racer for ALMS and WEC.....💡

Hey, just because the good ol' US of A doesn't have it on TV doesn't mean it's not world known. Trust me, besides the LeMans 24 hour race, it doesn't get any bigger. It's officially an international event. Broadcasted around the world. Even has it's own live feed for the whole race. Over 200,000 people attend the race. It's been run since 1970 (at least the 24 hour version) and way before that as a 1000km race. Definitely not remote. The 'Ring is well known, probably the most well known race track in the world. 👍

Anyone here heard about a rumor going arround that we have 4 incoming Delta Wings for the ALMS?
There's a thread over at the iRacing forums but very vague information and pretty much all speculation.

All i know is that the deltawing will have a permanent space in the ALMS. I havent heard/read anything about 4 of them joining.

Will this year be a 4v2 again between Audi and Toyota? I hope their's an equal playing field like when Audi raced against Peugeot, 3v3.

Also, does anyone know if Liz Halliday will be racing at Le Mans? I can recall her saying something about trying to get a drive during last years commentary.

I read an article that said 3 had been sold. I'm guessing 3 plus the factory team = 4.

LMP2 may end up being nothing but Delta Wings now that Level 5 dropped out. At least it'll be cool to see some actual liveries on them. :)

That's my thinking as well. They'll have IMO the best drivers in Sarrazin and Davidson. If they get ample testing done with Toyota and some experience in a race (Spa), they will be in good shape. We saw how good Toyota was at LeMans last year in only their first try, passing Audi on track. Can't wait for Silverstone!

You forgot to mention Wurz. Since Watching him lead that team, he has no doubt proven that he is a fantastic driver.

I'm hoping Wirth Research made some crazy-innovative move, and counting on JRM and Strakka to come dominate Le Mans, winning by 10 laps.

I can dream, right?

Disappointing from Toyota, once again. They won't win Le Mans and they won't win any championships. They are going to learn the hard way that you don't half ass against Audi in sportscars.

I hope that this has to do with Toyota saving money for the 2014 car. I'd like to see three of those cars since they can't use the TS030 for much longer.

We can hope, but it doesn't look good. Toyota's decision could also very well be a sign that they are pulling out at the end of 2013.

Either way, I feel sorry for Davidson, Sarrazin, and the entire team at TMG in Cologne. They are making things happen, but the suits in Tokyo are not taking this project seriously at all. 👎

All Audi are any good at it beating privateers. 👎

They were thrashed by Peugeot in the ILMS and Toyota made them look silly in the WEC after Le Mans last year.

Neither team will invest much in this season if they hope to be able to live with Porsche next season.
