The Le Mans General Discussion Thread

Anyone know how to get cometary when at the track? I'm trying to find a mini FM radio but I also need to find out the station.

91.2FM is Radio Le Mans who are providing commentary for all parts of the race including qualifying over the whole week.

Nice one, I use their site for information but I've never found the FM numbers. Now I need to find someone who can lend me a radio :P

That'd be due to the fact they don't usually have a frequency to broadcast on as they are normally a web based radio station only based from their website. Well worth picking up a radio though if you don't have one or can't get one. They are quite cheap too.

Any recommendations of where I can get one cheap? Looking to spend under 10 quid on a radio, I'm broke from this trip as it is

Back at ya'.

I'm hoping for a bit of rain even though I'm packing 100% shorts :D. Would love to see the cars driving around in the mist.

I'd quite like that too, although I won't complain if there's no rain! I've never been to a wet Le Mans and I plan on keeping that record going ;)

I have a Radio Le Mans branded radio which I bought from the circuit a few years back. Can't remember how much they cost though. Which reminds me, I should probably try and find that before I leave...

The ones I want to win

LMP1 - TOYOTA #7 *

LMP2 - MORGAN #43 and ZYTEK #42 *

GTE-PRO - FERRARI #71 and ASTON #98 *

GTE-AM - PORSCHE #77 and FERRARI #81 *

* - Nothing against Audi, but I do like to see the usual winner lose from time to time :D . #7 because I like this team more. And ... it would be awesome to see a japanese driver win at Le Mans.

* - The Morgan because it's a Morgan, this one in particular because I don't like the others' liveries, be it the black/pink oones or the art car. And then there's Natacha Gachang, a brave woman in motorsports. The ZYTEK because it's the "gamers" one, with Krumm added for a bit of Deltawing nostalgia :D

* - Kamui Kobayashi and Pedro Lamy, enough said.

* - I like Patrick Long, and although I never watched a single episode of any show featuring Dempsey, I do get that McQueen vibe about him. He is humble when speaking of his racing, and he clearly loves doing it so I'll be rooting for a good result from them. The #81 Ferrari because Rui Àguas is in the team! :D

No resolution at Lotus pits. At one stage three phones being used - tow truck still here - all work now stopped on cars.."

Latest Tweet.

Times like this make me wish I had a twitter. This could get quite interesting later.

Try and listen in to RLM tomorrow. They'll be covering it from Mid-Day UK time.

Edit: The cars aren't even being taken by the team trucks. No idea what is going on...

Suspension wishbones removed and boxed up. More inspection of Chassis going on at Lotus pit. #Lm24 - photos of interior being taken.

re- read my tweets - been very careful in choice of words. Ironically the music in the pit is Marley "every little things gonna be alright"

Following a court decision this morning by the court of Le Mans, both the Lotus T128 Kodewa Colin Kolles team were seized today in 17 hours. According to our information, the German team n would not have met its financial commitments to its partners who, in response, decided to appeal to justice. Kodewa The team has until Friday, June 21 to resolve the dispute if it hopes to start the next 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Four boxes of suspension wishbones and two steering wheels taken out of lotus pits.

That would be a major bummer if the Le Mans 24 didn't have a full grid. Hopefully, Lotus will remove its head from its hindquarters and solve the problem.

This ain't Lotus. Lotus are merely the naming and branding. This is Kolles problem.

Then Kolles needs to figure something out. They should not have entered in the first place if they knew they were having financial problems.

Not good if this doesn't get resolved quickly. The two Kodewa cars were not expected to be competitive or even finish the race, but they do look good and are a nice dose of variety in an increasingly homogenous LMP2 field.

Well they've had no sponsors have they? Running two cars with no sponsor in all honesty seems a little bit of a slippy slope to begin with.

I could be wrong but isn't there only one reserve car in LMP2? The #37 Alpine A450

Who knows if that car is even able to pack up and head to Le Mans in time. That's a major bummer.

Level 5 mentioned something about keeping the spare chassis in France in case they needed parts. I can't help but think that Alpine may have done the same, especially since they're on the reserve line-up. Maybe both could be able to step up? I'm sure Tucker could coax a driver or 2 from somewhere..

That's because they are being seized.

Will it affect the F1 team?

No. The F1 team, based at Enstone, England, is only "Lotus" in name only. The F1 team currently receive no funding from Lotus and only run under the name for the purpose of drawing sponsorship and interest through the brand.

The LMP2 team, based in Greding, Germany, is only "Lotus" in name only through sponsorship.

Neither really have any real link through Lotus Cars other than the name so neither affect each other.

Then Kolles needs to figure something out. They should not have entered in the first place if they knew they were having financial problems.

Its likely that something was thought to have been paid for and whoever should have been paid for it (or should have paid off whatever debts)..didn't cough up.

For all we know, Lotus Cars could have turned around and hit the cancel button on payments without telling Kolles. Or the debts owed are from years ago running the Spyker F1 team and have finally caught up on Kolles.

Just nick a couple of drivers from the Kodewa team, they're all ready to go and without a ride now so..
