The Le Mans General Discussion Thread

White is nice, but white with some random letters or stripes thrown over it does NOT make a livery.

This is a white based livery. And it's truly sad that we never saw it race ... not because it was a beauty, but it being a beauty wasn't bad either:

I've always wondered whatever became of that car. Would love to see that in any racing sim. In-fact, I may actualy have a car suggestion.

Nope. White is fine for one car but too many cars like that is too much.

The Audi and Porsche aren't even the same so I hardly see how its "Too Much". Again, The Porsche is nothing but pure white with letters. The Audi at least has some strong amount of other colors to break it up.

It was supposed to be a version of the Peugeot 908 with a 4WD diesel-hybrid system (like the e-tron quattro). Peugeot planned to race it, but I think it never happened after Peugeot withdrew their 908s from Le Mans.

There is a skin pack for it in Rfactor's Enduroracers mod. Could do some HDV tweaking...

I like the look of the Audi. Now we need to know what Toyota looks like. I really hope Peugeot comes back.

I really appreciate the overall livery design look of the R18 TDI '2014. Seems to be a combination of the previous R18 liveries from the 2011 R18 & the 2012-2013 R18.

One major flaw of the livery: nose isn't black!

My only complain.
This angle shows it well:

The proportions bear a fair resemblance to a CN group prototype. They look small and spindly.

If we compare it to an LMP1 from 10 years ago, we can see a much more robust and purposeful stance:

Looks so disproportionate and tiny. The older one is much more beautiful and manly.

New P1/P2 regs make all the cars look awkward in proportions. The wheels are tiny.
Erm big wheels doesn't mean fast!

Also they look like ether 17s or 18s, rules limit them to 18's which is the same as alot of motorspot series

Do tell me how does that work

I don't know. What I know is that LMP was always about big and powerful cars. It's something related to the concept of "Motorsport, because soccer only requires one ball".

F1 is for girls with those fragile cars...

I just found it funny that you used Beautiful and manly in the same sentence, which usually doesn't translate to the same meaning.

I like the look of the old one better as well, but I have a feeling looks are irrelevant, it's an Audi so they'll find a way once again to make it kick ass.

Well I hope someone at least gives them a run for their money this year, rooting for which Audi was going to win for the better part of the past decade was getting pretty boring.

They look all spindly, like a cross of 2014 F1 and a Ligier JS53.

Uh! Now I realise what you're saying. I meant 'handsome'! In Portuguese, we use "bonito" (beautiful) to both genres.

Sorry about my brain fart.

It will be interesting to see if they can reharvest that energy over a lap.

Iirc that was the main reason they were thinking about 8mj but in testing they struggled to harvest it rather than down to the weight.

Something in that design reminds me of a 1980's/early 1990's style Group C / IMSA car. Probably how squarish it is from front.

EDIT: Is that the new R-One in the paddock at Paul Ricard or just the Lola's in new colours?

The old cars, they said they won't have the new car ready for the WEC test.
