The biggest change is that the car is now all-wheel drive. The new car packs a 3.7-liter gasoline V8 engine supplemented for the first time ever with an Aisin generator up front and a Denso unit in the rear. That's 513 horsepower from the V8 and 473 horsepower from the electric systems. Together, the powerplants put the car close to 1,000 horsepower.

Power isn't the only reason the hybrid system is more prominent this year, Toyota says. The teams are now required to use 25 percent less fuel than in 2013, which has resulted in various powertrain and aerodynamic changes.

if( car.front.is_ugly() === true ){
if(car.has_won() == true){
if(car.has_won({ 'beat':'audi'})){
print(' Who cares if it\'s ugly, awesome');
return;
}
print(' awesome, but couldn\'t they make it better looking? ');
return;
}
print(' Couldn\'t they make it better looking?, 1000HP... and to think this company makes the prius ');
return;

}

looking forward to the 24 this year 👍

:lol:

I can't wait for Le Mans this year!!

Last year the fastest P1 qualifying time at Spa was 1:59.961. The fastest qualifying lap from the 2012 Belgian GP (2013 quali was wet) was a 1:47.573.

F1 will surely get closer to last year's times by Spa, but certainly not surpass by much if at all. We could see LMP1 cars be within around 7 or 5 seconds of F1's pace this year!

Here's how the TS040 V8 sounds btw:

I'm somewhere between "that's rather hideous" and "that's beautiful". Squarish front doesn't do it any favours, and the Le Mans spec is still rather... "interesting", but...

It's a TOYOTA, so it's automatically the best car.

:P

But the Prius sucks though. :P

On the serious note the front looks horrible. Are modern rule changes designed to make cars uglier or what, seems all new reg changes ruin them, shame. I guess that will take some getting used to.
It's all about efficiency now (massive fail on the ACO's part making P1's smaller than P2's :boggled:), and that requires some horrible designs it seems. It's a shame. Just 5 years ago we had absolutely beautiful racing cars.

Love how this wasn't a problem last year, despite Audi having their mostly white and silver livery and Toyota's Still white and blue colors.

Also, not digging the series configuration of the TS040 (the front end specifically). Its extremely close to Lister LMP levels of unbearable.

I'm predicting many commentary mistakes this year...

How? The Toyota is wearing the same livery and the Audi has black and Silver color. It can't be that hard to tell these cars apart.

Please someone turn back time to 2012...

I mean, the rear looks absolutely fantastic, but the front is just a disaster. For their sake I hope it's fast.

Interesting to note how the Porsche looks as flat and long as this year's cars, yet the new Audi and Toyota look like compact LMP cars.

I don't understand how anyone can mistake one car for another... They're all vaguely similar, sure, but they're all very different. It's not like Alfa Romeo and McLaren in the early 80s, who both wore Marlboro branding...

I think the Porsche looks the best of the three. I'll get used to the Toyota soon enough. The Audi is a visual mess.

Porsche running in white really isn't a surprise. Other than 1988, I find it hard to remember the last time they didn't run a mainly white livery.
