The Le Mans General Discussion Thread

Big crash. Porsche heavily damaged, Di Grassi Audi wrecked heavily. Seperate accidents.

EDITS: #61 Ferrari off.

Wow...great job Di Grassi it was yours to lose cause you were definitely faster than the Toyota. Perhaps it was an issue with the car but I don't know it looked more like driver error and team choice not to change tires when everyone else had.

Slicks coming out for the Audi who's driver realises that this is a 6 hour race.

I'm finally glad to see the memo reached them

 he is now going to limp it back home with body work spilling away from it... Audi do you even know who you guys are in this world?

#13 Rebellion-Lola also with issues.

The other Audi is now in the gravel.

No. 1 car is retired. Either they can't fix it or they were told they can't restart after receiving external assistance.

It's surprising to me just how slow those Lola's are compared to the rest of the P1 grid. I realise they aren't hybrids, but the difference between their performance versus the hybrids compared to last season is staggering.

They still look great though.

I just now thought, if Rebellion's R-One is just going without a hybrid system, how the hell do they expect to compete with Audi, Porsche, and Toyota? I know the Lola is a old car, but still...

They have dream power sir, they know what they're doing. See there dreams of wanting a hybrid system are so powerful the outweigh the need for an actual hybrid system. Thus they can compete.

LMP1-L (Privateer entries) are not permitted the hybrid systems.

I wonder if the #14 will get a drive through for unsafe pit release? I suppose it depends on how he lost the tyre.

Makes sense.

Commissioning an LMP1 car and not actually competing with the top doesn't make much sense to me.

Call me frugal but pissing money in the wind has never made sense to me either and usually the frame of mind I have every year. I scratch my head and wonder why are they still spending all this just to lose. Like do they get ready each year and pump each other up by trying to figure out how not to lose as bad as they did the year prior?

#1 audi out ??

both of them were out, now I think only one is out and the other is very far behind.

#14 Porsche in more issues. LMP1 is now split into two categories - LMP1-H for the factory hybrids, LMP1-L for the others.

Yeah I know but still, there is a reason LMP2 exist perhaps someone should go inform them of that. I mean I love their cars and their ambition, but their reality....
