The Le Mans General Discussion Thread

Did something happend to 1 of the Porsche and the 2 Audis?

The two Audi's ran off at the same place, the first after 1 hour, and the 2nd after about 3 hours. This happened at the old pit area (high speed right hand turn). The Porsche suffered from hydraulic problems.

Also, one of the Rebellions had to withdraw as a result of gearbox problems.

What was the comparison in pace and fuel economy like before the Audis and Porsche crashed? Are there any conclusions yet to be drawn from this race, or too early to tell?

The Porsche's have been rather underwhelming IMO. They have yet to show the same speed as either the Toyota's or the Audi's. Toyota and Audi were very equal, with the Toyota being faster on straights, and the Audi's having the advantage in the corners.

Looks like the mighty V8 petrol shall win this one, and that Toyota have finally come into their own. Audi has a real challenge on their hands this season.

Doubt it, The Toyota's are running thier low drag set up and Audi the high downforce set up and the Audi's are actually faster.

Thou puny 6 cylinder diesel shall not challenge thé holy V8 petrol. :D

I don't know, when the commentators talked about it, they stated that the R18 was faster in the corners, which makes sense as they are running with the high downforce package. And the Toyota were faster on the straights.

In any case, you can't deny that they were running much closer than they were the last two years?
