The Le Mans General Discussion Thread

I believe that same car tested in preparation of a possible TUSC season this year, correct?

How many Radical SR9 Ecoboost's can there be?

It tested last year for sure, but it never raced. I dont' know if it has been on track this season or not

I think they're trying to sell their EcoBoost Turbo engine to LMP2 teams, but no one has bought one so far

There's only one team backwards enough to buy that engine, and that's speedsource Mazda!

Seriously though, Ford have an engine that fits straight into P2 regulations without issue, it would just need to be detuned, and well that motor has won the Bathurst 1000 2 years running now, so reliability and fuel economy wouldn't be an issue

Well...

You know how much rage would ensue if this happened to be the real thing or look close to it (though a joke)...but why wait when we can subtly ask indirectly of a certain person *cough @R1600Turbo cough*, a simple sorta, no or yes will suffice.

From the original pictures it's going too look like to me a GT-One with a modern or revamped R390 nose, but that's my guess

So otherwise it's spot on @R1600Turbo?

Nissan's next Le Mans racer is Luke Skywalker's Landspeeder in a thin disguise, then? Cool, but probably not within the rules. They may want to rethink that.

So...we didn't even know Ferrari were planning on creating an LMP1, and now we've seen their prototype...

...while we still know nothing about the Nissan!

Glickenhaus. Might aim for GTE in a couple years. Chances are slim though.

Hate the idea of a front engine LMP1 from Nissan. It basically says, we know we cant build a car fast enough to win, so we're going to show up with slower alternate technology (like the Zeod), so we get attention not for being fast but for being different. If so I hope it fails like the Zeod

It wouldn't meet GTE rules unless he's going for garage 56?

Was discussing this on the RLM FB page... It wouldn't go into GTE as the manufacturers wouldn't allow a small volume sportscar in (heck getting the Viper in with a waiver was hard enough), and it has no "new technologies" to qualify it as G56.

Its a hybird type set up like the zeod was.

So what is it exactly? I mean...it looks cool but...what is it exactly? LMPGTE-1? :P And what's it powered by? That sounded like a twin turbo V8 to me.

Either way I love it...something that looks like a Fezza and has a V8.

I don't think a front engined car is necessarily an instant write-off. After all, there have been plenty of Aston Martin, Corvette and Viper wins over the last 20 years.

If it does end up being front engined, I'll give Nissan the benefit of the doubt and just be thankful there is some more variety in LMP-1 past hybrid types.
