The Le Mans General Discussion Thread

I might be going out on a limb here, but for some reason I'm seriously thinking perhaps Ekstrom.

Nah. They only run 3 cars for the whole season. I bet they'll move Rocky or Romain Dumas to the #2 car, and then find a replacement for one of the lower cars.

Has Ekstrom driven an LMP car before? Jarvis got a seat because he had driven the Kolles R10 back in 200?.

I wonder who will replace Dindo since he retired.

I really hope romain dumas. He has been my favorite driver for a long time (before he was with Audi)

In reality it will probably be mike rockenfeller

Just to clear up any confusion, the #45 Lizard was the only Porsche to be disqualified. No issues were found with the other cars.

That aside, I really enjoyed the race. Mosport is a fantastic track. 👍

They should recruit some of the frenchmen that gave them so much trouble in the past.

Just saying.

Aren't most of those already taken? As long as it isn't Montagny, I'd agree.

Well, I've been sorely missinformed then. Ok, screw everything I just said on the page regarding Porsche Desperation.

Well it's at least somewhat reassuring that this wasn't a problem with the manufacturer, I hope whatever went wrong with the #45 was just a mechanical failure, I really like them and hope they can give the Corvettes a challenge this year. Also great news for the other Porsche teams. Big fan of the #17.

After the race they block the air restrictors and attempt to start the engine. If it stalls it means there is no air reaching the engine and the restrictors are functional. The #45 started which means either the restrictors have failed or there is air entering the engine from some other source which could theoretically increase the power of the car if there is more air reaching the engine in race conditions than the restrictors allow.

What about Nick Heidfeld? He would be a good candidate! But you guys are right, they will most likely use existing resourses.

Audi Wins the 2012 6 Hours of Silverstone

Ok, well, not yet anyways...

It seems Toyota are sending a single car with Wurz, Lapierre, and Nakajma. I think they stand a real chance at doing better than 3rd, since this race is shorter and they will have hopefully worked out the bugs that plagued them at Le Mans.

Audi will contest with the #1 Hybrid(Lotterer, Treluyer, and Fassler) and the #2 Ultra (McNish and Kristensen). This is their race to lose at this point...

JRM(Brabham, Chandok, Dumbreck),
Strakka (Leventis, Watts, Kane),
And both Rebellion-Toyota-Lotus cars (#12-Prost/Jani, #13-Belicchi/H.Primat) will also be fighting for LMP1 honors.

In LMP2, Starworks has their "Regular" line-up return, with Stephane Sarrazin returning from his week out with Toyota.
It'll be interesting to see if Olivier Quesnel(Former Peugeot boss) has managed to whip some pace into the Oak-Morgans.
LMP2 has the deepest field, so use the link to get to the Entry list.

GTE looks pretty full this time around.
The Pro headline should be whether or not Aston Martin can come back from a 3rd at Le Mans.

In Am, it seems that Aston Martin are bringing an additional car, making it 3 Astons on the grid. But they dont appear to have a driver Line-up sorted.

Af Corse-Waltrip is (Thankfully) not using a NASCAR star this time around.

Ok, I'm tired. If you want more info, click the link.

I'm surprised that AF Corsa-Waltrip is not at least bringing Brian Vickers with a Fourth in class at Le Mans and the following week at a world class circuit in Sonoma/Infieon/Sears Point or whatever they call it now Finishing fourth as I remember but would he be considered the Pro on the team

Nice shots Mac. 👍

...To our surprise, the No. 45 did not stall during this test after the race and was disqualified. You can imagine all the mechanics and engine people pulling their hair out trying to figure out what had gone wrong. We could not see anything wrong, and so protested the disqualification. We investigated the issue more thoroughly when the car was returned to us, and found that the air cleaner had been improperly fitted. This caused the device to flex during the race and the seal to eventually fail. This is very likely what caused us to fail the stall test. While we are not certain that this caused us any advantage, rules are rules, and we support the Steward’s ruling. A very disappointing end to a great race. Now on to Mid-Ohio!

Oops!

^^Definitely agreed! Beautiful car indeed!

Sucks for FL, I bet whatever ammount of air that was leaking wasn't making much of a difference if any! At WOT the air is gonna follow the path of least resistance and the low pressure zone in front of the filter is more than enough to overcome the vacuum a small leak can cause... Oh well, bring on Mid-O and the Vipers!

Awesome shots again Mack!
