The Le Mans General Discussion Thread

Did anyone notice the Lotus didn't have that Lamborghini sound it did at Long Beach? While it sounds good now, I just kinda miss it.

I've fallen for that Lotus straight away. Very nice :) Oh, and Mack, the Beast Mode shot is now the background on my laptop. Stunning shot of my favourite sportscar :)

I guess I might as well spam some of mine that I've done so far, since they're bit different (there's also a BMW shot of mine a few pages back).

Awesome pics, Mac! I snagged a few high res copies from your flickr to use as my backgrounds. :)

LongbowX, your post processing rocks! I really love that white-washed FL. Link to some 1080p versions and I'll add them to my background rotation, too.

Thanks guys! I will work on a few more...sometime. I haven't quite finished.

I generally don't offer them in that size sadly, as I had some work stolen in the past...but I could give some individually when I get to it if you point out what you'd like. ^^

Just don't claim it as your own please :). Nice stuff Longbow, especially of the Flying Lizard, it doesn't even look like it was taken at Mosport.

Dominik Farnbacher, Tommy Kendall, Ryan Hunter-Reay, and Alex Bomarito is a pretty good line-up.

I still dont think the car will be up to pace until next year...

Wait a second. Tommy Kendall, THE Tommy Kendall, is coming out of retirement to drive the Viper?

Yes.

At Le Mans, the Viper Club kept harassing Justin Bell (Who was doing pit reporting) to drive it. I think this will satisfy them, however.

I'm honestly surprised Beretta was not part of it. Having not seen him in any race outside Daytona and Sebring left me thinking maybe he got the call.

I realize using other teams ideas is sort of part of the race in gaining the advantage, but blatantly copying a design with very few distinguishing differences is abit too much.

I'm not sure its actually a legal issue until intellectual property is stolen *cough* coughlan *cough*.

There's not much Audi can do. Designs get copied all the time in F1.

It makes sense. It works really well for them. Why change something that isn't broken?

I bet if you took a look at the Toyota in bare carbon you'd think the same!

Not quite. The Toyota is actually different enough that even in bare Carbon, I could tell the difference especially those strange endplate connectors on the bonnet and the nose.

Wheel wells are extremely flat on the front in the Toyota as well 👍

Thats about the only thing it has in common with the Audi, you can tell the rest of the car apart even if it were in carbon.

I could honestly tell these apart if they were bare carbon. Theres many elements that make the Audi what it is and the Toyota what it is.

This "Lotus" is more along the lines of 90% Audi, 10% Imagination.

The rear wing on the lotus is much different than the audi

Upon looking at it again after posting the pic, Its actually 50% Toyota (Rear Wing Endplates, Diveplanes, Rear Fender Scupting, Front Wheel Well Sculpting), 45% Audi (Splitter, Nose, Roof Intake), 5% original (Mirrors, louvers). So its basically copying two cars.
