Hopefully the "maybe" turns into a no go for the Delta wing and a faster more efficient evolution of the current DP!

They very specifically said "Maybe" for 2014.

You do know that Dr. Panoz stands to make money from the car's success, right? As he's the one that will be building them. And he's on the board for the new series. And that he wants to make an initial production run for the 2013 season of ALMS. And that part of the agreement between the two series when they merged was that the DeltaWing have a spot on the grid.

Speed TV Merger Details
** Part of the merger agreement is for the DeltaWing to be accepted into the new series, granted it meets safety and performance standards, which Panoz said it has already achieved at Le Mans. Whether it races in a separate class for alternative technologies or among the prototype entries is to-be-determined.

I don't see how any of that points to "maybe".

Details on the DeltaWing as an Indy Lites car.

AAR was responsible for the construction of the first DeltaWing chassis which raced at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June, but Panoz, who sits atop the DeltaWing program, has repeatedly expressed his desire to mass produce the unique car through his Georgia-based Elan Technologies firm.

I think that, if the Indy Lites deal happens, that might be the only reason we don't see the DeltaWing in Sportscar racing, as the IRL might want the car to remain exclusive to it's series, instead of seeing a slightly different version also racing in another series at the same time.

"For 2014, the new series would incorporate Daytona prototypes, Le Mans prototypes, and maybe even a DeltaWing."

Thats from the link you gave me. So don't say that I'm wrong, and then pull in other sources that I wasn't aware of.

Oh snap. For a second I forgot who I was talking to. Apologies.

But still, yeah. The link I was given said "Maybe".

It does, but I'm gonna chalk it up to a playful figure of speech, especially since it was quoted. The DeltaWing is looking more and more like it's going to have a very good chance of going racing.

^Fair Enough.

So how much longer does DHH get to be an "Amateur" driver? When you keep pace with LMP1 all day, while Scott Tucker keeps a pathetic pace, I would assume that you're no longer just an amateur.

He's what I would consider a very aggressive amatuer

Guys, anything and everuthing we've seen or heard comes from the press conference where France use those words. Nothing official has been anounced since, even the Delta Wing people where surprised when they heard it.

"In the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), the two Audi driver line-ups are fighting a thrilling battle for the title. As of the sixth of the season’s eight rounds in Bahrain on September 29, a new strategy will guarantee absolute equality of opportunity. Audi will start to compete with two hybrid vehicles to set the agenda for the future."

Which would leave two Ultras for Petit :dopey:

I know it doesn't quite mean that, just wishful exadurated thinking.

Toyota feel they'll be in an even better spot next weekend in Bahrain. There are 7! braking zones for hybrid regeneration. That's equal to LeMans. All but two of the turns following those braking zones are under 120kph. That plays into the hands of Toyota's rear drive hybrid.

Let's see if the team though can provide the same performance again. The car maybe a bullet, but that Audi team is still one effective gun.

That said, I really want this car in GT6.
