The Le Mans General Discussion Thread

Haha true man, but I have a feeling PD is dispensing its last DLC before fully pushing forward on GT6. I doubt Toyota is willing to let PD to be all over the car, as it is still campaigning and teams tend to be super secretive about their stuff.

Now as for the Toyota, I'm really interested to see what updates they bring. The rear wing interpretation was clever, and now their hybrid drive seems to have a good advantage over Audi's.

If they're in F1, yes. Sports cars I'm not sure they are that secretive. About their data, well who isn't really but not the car.

Just noticed the Vipers where missing at VIR, what's up with that? What am I missing here guys?

They aren't a full-season entry. They've been shunted quite a few times. This is supposed to be their test season. Don't be surprised if they don't show up to Petit Le Mans either.

Yeah, that's what I thought... But I don't see them missing the valuable test time they'll get at Road Atlanta.

With it being the last race of the season, and one of the most packed races, I can see them sitting on the sidelines and protecting their cars.

I totally forgot about this... any big names?

Edit
Found the Entry List, the only big name is Tom Kimber-Smith, in the #6 Ginetta.

Edit again-

If I were, say, BMW or AF Corse(This is based on class 1 being GT3/GTE), it would be very tempting to send an M3 GTE or 458 GTE, for the sole purpose of blowing everyone out of the water. In terms of Sponsors and such, this is a less than ideal race... But for fun...

Haha, trust me BMW or AF Corse wouldn't be able to run. Whilst the top class was GT3 (no GTE/2 here) they were running heavy noise reduction systems. Put it this way, a Jaguar XF-S Diesel and a Honda Jazz both got black flagged due to exceeding the noise limit. The Jazz later got disqualified because of it...

Oh God! The stupid noise restriction regs have hit Silverstone?? That's sad!

Yet they allow F1... real sense.

This killed Castle Combe. If you live near a bloody race track you should expect to have noise.

I could have sworn that the Class breakdown said GT3/GTE.

But thats a good point on the noise regs. Bummer. You still see my point though, yeah?

People are just stupid creatures, they move in next to a race track or airport that's been there 50 years before urban developement even got there and then start complaining about the noise till they shut it down!

Noise restrictions at a race track... I would ask what the world has come to, but I still doubt there's an answer.

Hey, do any of you know what the heck happened to Jaime Melo? He dropped off the grid...literally.

He was supposed to race in Bahrain this weekend, but I can't find his name mentioned anywhere? Does he race anymore? Some behind the scenes stuff I'm not aware of? He was fast so it would have had to be some other reason for cutting him off the Ferrari roster.

I'm just confused. His webpage doesn't really give any hints that I can find, except a countdown clock to Bahrain, and his twitter updates are in Spanish.

And they're half a year old...

With the "Legend" returning to Le Mans seems, they are starting up their hype machine

Enjoy.

I can see them having the same initial problem that the Pre-2012 Vantage had- Being somewhat limited in top speed by the largeness of the front end.

Its a W12? How are the ACO going to allow it? I thought they'd at least use the new V8 they have...

Probably going to pull a Viper. And further irritate Corvette, who changed their engine size to be OK to the regs...

It's a GT3 car though, so it could end up racing in VLN, FIA GT, Blancpain etc., but not Le Mans (unless I missed an ACO change in GT class regulations for LM).

It says in the title of the article that it's going back to Le Mans. It actually will test most of 2013 and then race late next year. The GT3 is just in the name. Similar to how Porsche uses the 911 GT3 RSR.

No idea. I looked it up and there's nothing mentioned. Maybe just is busy or something.. If there was any scandal then I'm sure the media would've been on it, but I'm sure he'll be back.

GT3 isn't LeMans. Unless they change the rules, or Bentley builds a GTE model. The W12 may be too thirsty, so they might use the V8. BMW uses a V8 in their GT3 Z4 even though the car doesn't come with that engine on the road model. It won't run until late next year though. So we have to wait to see this goodness in competition :(
