The Le Mans General Discussion Thread

In any case though, It'll be smart on all teams using Lolas to help each other out on parts while shopping for new cars.

Definitely. It'll be interesting to see if any teams currently using a lola stick with it for next year though.

What the heck is Dyson gonna do next year? I mean I had heard they were already running into parts issues mid-season.

was listening to Radio Le Mans the other night and they made a good point saying perhaps a company will be set up dealing in lola spares (or creating lola spares). I see that being quite a strong possibility.

Lola Composites is still operating, which presumably owns some of the spare parts.
To be fair though, Lola really struggled to give a lot of support to teams using their cars...so its not really a huge difference.

The situation with Dyson is a pretty hard one, but I see Rebelion going to HPD next year.

You sure? HPD has what they want in Strakka and JRM. With the Toyota connection, I can see Rebellion springing for a modified Oreca perhaps?

Where are the AMR-ONE Chassis floating around at? Pescarolo have one, Deltawing has one, which means there must be one or 2 more.

Maybe Rebellion will pick up this year's Toyota frame, when Toyota builds another (If they build another)?

Not sure about that. Seems risky to suddenly abandon the Toyota Connection they've had for the last three years. Maybe just use another chassis from Oreca (assuming they aren't exclusively Nissan) or (assuming they have room) TMG could take up doing parts for Rebellion. If the other Lola teams decide to switch to Toyota Power, they would also benefit from having some parts. Could be a win-win as Toyota would have more teams with its petrol powerplants and the Lola teams left with no spares now have a powerhouse team to supply them.

This situation is really bad, and complicated! Hopefully we'll know something soon! Who knows! Maybe Dallara could suply chassis and parts to the Lola teams!? Panoz?

So basically all of the Lola teams have no choice but to go to someone else. I'm still sort of clinging to the Toyota Connection for Rebellion though.

This. Especially with a team that's knows the pros and cons about Lolas. They can give the most help with the others on the parts department.

Sometimes I wonder if all the teams would go to Toyota. Like you previously mentioned, it could be a win-win situation for all teams and Toyota.

Strange and uninteresting qualifying at Fuji...Toyota grabs pole and everyone sits in the pits? Tire conservation?

No reason to go back out with 3 minutes left. They probably felt the track conditions weren't going to improve any. Toyota and Audi played the waiting game, it looked like both were seeing if the other was going back out. Nakajima put in a stellar lap though. He is good there at Fuji (holds the Formula Nippon track record). Did anyone catch Akio Toyoda congratulating him? ;) When the head of Toyota is there smiling, it's definitely a good sign.

<==== Watching!
How the hell did the 2 GT leaders managed to open up such a huge gap so fast!!!?

Decided for fun to try lapping at Fuji in the Peugeot 908 HDI and see how close I could get to the pole time set by Crash..er, Kaz Nakajima.

Pole Time: 1.27.499
My Time: 1'27.520

Took 14 laps as for whatever reason the rear is more unstable then I remember (maybe a result of update 2.08), but I came pretty damn close. I'm sure if I can get the rear to stop dancing, I can actually beat it.

Does the Toyota have some sort of new aero package?

Its been on it since Silverstone.

What were the specs of your Peugeot RACECAR?

Other then the Front and Rear Downforce settings as well as Soft Tires, Pretty much stock (Out of fear I might screw it up). I actually managed to just edge it out just now:

Pole Time: 1'27.499

New Time: 1'27.469

That car has a lot more BHP than the current cars in the WEC.

Toyota need a splash and dash so this race is a lot closer than it looks.

5.3 seconds between the Toyota and Andre's Audi!!

5.1 seconds now! Andre is slowly closing the gap!!

Andre looses 3 seconds behing the GT cars, up to 8.4 seconds now...
